2.0T Community Thread

These videos really don’t do the sound any justice... but I guess that’s what you get when you’re recording with an iPhone 6... not exactly made to record clear audio, but it’s all I got, so it will have to do.

Valves closed:

Valves open:
I do like the sound of it!
With the valves closed, is that a k&n typhoon shortram intake you can hear?

You can still hear it but the camera was right next the the exhaust so that’s all you could hear.

Hello fellow 2L Owners!

There seem to be very few of us (at least comparatively to 3.3TT owners) on this forum, so I wanted to start a thread specifically for us.

Who else owns a 2L Stinger? And what mods (if any) have you done?

I will kick us off..

I don’t think one has been made for the 2.0
Yah. That's what I thought. The only thing I found was this one size fits all cars plastic strip that you stick on the bottom of the front bumper.
....no thanks.

In other words like this one? But it is that cheap flexible kind attached with screws.

Recently got the Magnaflow Cat-Back exhaust and wanted to give a review. I have the base model so I don't have the fake exhaust sound pumped into the car, so from the factory the car is lexus quiet inside, and I just wanted a little more sounds. I ordered it from Magnaflow Exhaust Solutions, they currently are running a 20% off sale so I was able to buy it for $959.14 with free shipping. I do want to mention that hottexhaust.com has very mixed reviews and their BBB rating is awful, but my order went through fine and I received it less than a week later.

As far as installation, I had a local muffler shop install it for $180. It was a little loud from inside but I thought it sounded pretty good, and the drone didn't bother me, but my daughter said it felt like her head was about to explode riding in the back seat. I went back to the shop and mentioned I heard on the forums that exhaust tips helps with drone, but the guy said that was hard to believe and insisted on Vibrant Resonators on each side. After installing the resonators the overall sound got lower but the drone/reverberation was 10 times worse, felt like the pressure you feel on an airplane when you go up. Went back to the shop and insisted they try tips, he was adamant that you don't want to have exhaust tips fixed to your exhaust pipe and squeezed through and touching the bumper opening, so he suggested extending the pipes to almost to the end of the existing tips but not touching the tips or body of the car. Whatever, I just wanted to get rid of the drone so I agreed and I also asked to take the resonators back off. After, doing that it was night and day difference with the drone. If fact there is ZERO drone with the tips extended and overall it's way quieter - my daughter agrees. I actually wouldn't mind if it was a little louder.

From the outside it still sounds pretty good. I was worried an aftermarket exhaust for a 4 cyl would either be raspy or fart-can boy racer but it has a nice deep sound and it's not too loud, it's enough that people around you can hear and do a double take, but not annoying. Feels like driving a different car now. Highly recommended!

I CAN ATTEST to your Stinger and the mod you just did. It sounds simply amazing!!!!! Well worth the money!
FYI - I still want your lowering springs. Hopefully I can buy them on Friday!

Hello guys! Proud 2018 2.0 rwd premium owner here, silky silver!

I’ve owned the car for 2 days so it has no modification, about to order a rebadging kit.
Not sure what other things maybe to come? This is a daily driver for me, it replaced a 2007 Acura TL
Loved my TL and so fare love my Stinger.

Interesting story for you. I bought my stinger from a nearby dealership. The car was a leftover 2018 original sticker price $38k I payed $25,200. Great deal I think!? Car had 1264 miles on the clock, the only thing I lost was 11 months of the warranty because the car was put in warranty service in early 2019.

Anyone have any input on improving gas mileage? I was a little surprised it wasn’t better for a 4cly?
My 12 year old Acura with 150,000 miles on it and a 260hp V6 got 34mpg on a highway trip.

Welcome! You have the exact match to my car. Same color, year and model. I’ve also got remote start and all the possible premium goodies that were available for 2018......all the safety nannies.

I drove to/from PA from NC around Labor Day and got 32-34mpg going 75-80mph on Eco. Every day driving is usually 25. Can’t complain since I have a heavy foot. Completely stock under the hood but MANY exterior mods.

You got a great price for only having 1200 miles in it. I just passed 8000 today. No issues at all to date. (Loud sounds of knocking on wood).

Welcome. I have the 2.0t and I have added the cold air intake which helps with gas mileage and HP.
I have also added JB4 and pedal tuner. Once you add those mods you will never go back to stock. Have fun!!

Hello everybody. I have had my 2019 Stinger 2.0 base for about 3 months now and am coming out of a 2016 Optima SX 2.0T.

What is everyone getting for 0-60 times in the 2.0? After I few months of driving I felt like the Stinger was a little faster than my Optima but the other day I took it out on some back roads and did some 0-60 times and was pretty surprised to be getting in the 7 to 7.5 second range. Pretty much right where my Optima was.

I have had a hard time finding 0-60 times for the 2.0 online but the few I did see where anywhere from 5.7 to 6.2. Has anyone else checked their times stock and what were u getting?

The forum welcomes you. I have a 2019 2.0t, I it got for 22k with 5k miles, full warranty. I took one trip to California, 800+ miles. 32 / 34 mpg is about right. The only mod I’ve got so far is a clear coat vinyl wrap on the paint. Should keep it nice and pretty for about 10 years. I hate clear coated paint.
I’m not worried about performance, it’s got enough for this old guy. I do want add K&N air filter and the pedal tuner. The Jb4 is not for me. These cars are computer controlled, anything with a computer keeps track of everything. Anything that happens to that drive train, that can be attributed to the Jb4 can be denied by the warranty. I have a 2.0 premium now after first having the base. Honestly, I’ve never tried launch mode. I know I’ve stepped on the gas a few times and squealed and almost spun the rubber but never have gone for the all out mashing the gas. Probably why I don’t have the 3.3. It doesn’t matter to me. However, remember the Stinger is a heavier car than the Optima (best guess) and AWD (if you have it) will only add another 200 lbs or so.
