Intake Comparison

I am also interested in this intake and suprised that not more people are using. First choice was injen, but no heat sheild.
Looks nicely put together but this doesn't seem a good intake design to me.

Just got an AEM intake off of Unique Auto Depot for $330.88 shipped. I emailed them that other sites were having 10% off and their website says they beat any site by 5%. They sent me back a link to the intake at the special price and said I had an hour to make the purchase. Not too bad getting it for around $56 off regular price. They were very quick to get back to me so I’m pleased with the transaction.

I just installed the Ap air intakes. fit was ok and the look is very clean and factory looking. Not done much driving with them yet but to me throttle response was better. Its the only mod I have so far. Ark down pipes are on the way. IMG_2338.webp IMG_2338.webp

Looks good. Interested to hear it and what you think performance wise. A sound clip would be nice. Does the heat sheild rub anything in your installation?

The driver side is touching the support bar but probably because I was in hurry installing. Probably can adjust it out where it clears bar.

Here is my AEM intake. Assume it’s much like the AP or really any other intake. Sorry about the crappy camera work. You can hear the “swoosh” of the BOV as I let off the gas.

Sounds just like my AP Intakes. Not much difference in sound of any intakes unless they are front mounted I would say.

Are you happy with the AP intake? Any fitment issues? I read about it rubbing hoses ect. Have you noticed less bottom end?

I’m happy with it. As I said it looks factory. You do have to adjust and maybe trim a hose but not difficult. I have no issues with the hood closing. It is very near or touching the driver side support bar but still looks fine. It’s just a very clean look. I picked this intake because of the semi sealed filters. Best looking is the injun air kit in my opinion but as I said I do feel heat can be issue under hood. I really think you will get similar performance from most of the kits out there. It comes down to fit and finish and what one likes.

When changing the filters, does anyone hear a difference on sound? Like louder/quieter, higher pitch or deeper sound?

Larger filter make less sound.
Try sucking air with your mouth.
Small opening makes more noise than a large opening.

Do you happen to have a part number for these?

They are S&B filters. The reference is R0747.

S&B Power Stack Air Filter Inverted Cone - Metal Cap

The filter area is 44% larger than the origin filters that come with the Injen CAI. My goal was to match the filter size of the JT intake kit without having to change my CAI. These large filters are slightly smaller (292cm2 vs 308cm2) than the ones that come with the JT kit but come very close. :D
FYI they are exactly twice the size of the K&N intake kit.

More numbers:

Warning: The fitment is extremely tight. I had to bend a little bit the metal bracket where the stock airbox attaches to prevent damaging the filter.

Thank you very much for all that great info. I apologize in advance but I might have to copy you :D

As a BMS intake owner I disagree. The BMS intake uses very small filters and is one of the more quiet intake options. The k&n uses much larger filters and is very loud. I think there's a lot of variables at play that increase or decrease volume like the intake tubing size, length, bends etc.

No problem my pleasure ;)
