• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

I always think of " Muscle cars " as Torana's, some of the Commodores with superchargers etc and of course the usual American Muscle like the Camaro, Chargers and Shelby Mustangs with their V8 big blocks under the bonnet.
A Guy said to me the other day " love the car, it looks like a Muscle car " never thought of Stingers in that way, always considered them to be Performance Sports Sedans.

However if you google " Korean Muscle cars " there's the Stinger, so maybe as Merlin suggested the Stinger has entered Muscle car territory but is more " refined " than the typical " American Muscle "

I have also had a liking of American Muscle Cars including Cadillac CTS_V , Corvette , Challenger and Charger , loved those Shelby Mustangs for years, I still like the previous models of about 2012, prefer that front and rear end more than current models actually.

Do any Aussie members here think in years to come, the Stinger will be popular with the young drivers of the future, like the Holden VL Commodore has become here in Australia and some other models, so open too modifications like the Holden VL , it's scary to think how much power the Stinger has for us older generations buying them brand new, imagine young drivers even 10 years from now with this amount of power, or with a late model Aussie built VF Commodore V8.

I have never ever thought of the Stinger as a Muscle Car , even if it has given the final built Aussie 2017 Holden VFII Commodore SS LS3 V8 a run for its money, the Stinger would struggle to keep up with true blue Aussie HSV or FPV muscle cars, and US muscle from Dodge , Chevrolet, Ford Mustang GT500 or GT350 , referring to it as a GT Grand Touring Sedan or Performance Sports Sedan seems more appropriate.:)

Interesting, I just can't see myself referring to the Stinger as a "Muscle car" it's just not a brute or a big block V8 equipt. And there's no muscle car roar. To me the Stinger is always going to be a Gt car, even though I have changed some of those guidelines.

I tend to agree, Performance sports sedan and true Grand Tourer is what I think suits it most.
Muscle cars are normally in style boxy and Brutish, something the Stinger is not and it lacks the raw power of the V8 big block engine.
Maybe it's on the cusp of muscle car territory but it hasn't crossed over yet, and nor do I personally think it should.

Isn’t a Stinger quicker than the current Mustang GT. Bit unfair comparing it to GT500 or 350. True though proper muscle cars should have a V8.

You can compare the Stinger to a Mustang GT, but not to true muscle cars like the Shelby's, or Challenger, Charger, Camaro...etc.. which is why Stinger can't be classed as a muscle car.

To me, "muscle car" means an American V8 with soggy handling, unsettled ride and a crap interior. I.e., a one-dimensional car with loads of power and nothing else to recommend it.

The Stinger is far more rounded - in addition to the power it has a comfortable ride, is very refined and has a genuine luxury interior. The C-Class, 3 series and A4 can't match the quality of the nappa leather and suede headlining in the Stinger. (The Germans have plastic sunvisors!)

That is so true. The latest Mustangs do drive better around corners now but their interiors are still not great.

Yes, a work friend advised she'd been in her friend's Mustang and thought the interior was cheap and plastic looking, nothing to rave about.

Don’t forget their 3 star ANCAP safety rating. Really doesn’t lend itself to being a must have car, despite the fact they seem to be everywhere

I think that thats possible, but you could always pick up a cheap VL but i think it would be awhile before younger people start doing that with Stinger as cost would be alot higher ( well hoping resale stays ok ). :)

Just to make it clear, I am not Selling the caps, I ‘m not a Vendor on this Forum.
I’m simply passing info to any new Aussies that are interested in a cap where you can get one.

If this is not permitted, feel free to delete all relevant posts.

What's that last picture of? lol
They are the Mesh Vents to put in the front vent openings to stop stones, debris etc entering the vents but still allowing air to flow.
The person makes them and gives a set free with the purchase of a cap. I think you can buy them separately but I don't know the price.
