Transmission just blew up.

While not the progress you and many of us wish. It looks like they have the assessment they needed to make a decision on your case. Hopefully after the visit of the KIA reps and their reports get submitted, things will move along now at a normal pace to reach a resolution.

Roger, if you feel like Kia has gone into CYA mode, and not looking to make you whole, might be time to consult lemon law lawyer.

I know a few folks have mentioned talking to a lemon law attorney. I have been through this for a motorcycle about 15 years ago. It was a horrific experience from start to finish. Getting my own attorney, although was gratifying at first, quickly became another source of frustration. He was burning through my cash like it was nothing.

Do you have a loaner that they are paying for? Or another vehicle that you are able to drive for now? If so, consider just using that for a while and keep pushing Kia for a new Stinger. I think it was mentioned that they have their legal team involved, so it may not go fast, but if you get a lawyer, you'll also have to pay for that somehow.

Feel free to PM me. I'm happy to go into my experience with you in detail. I know it's easy for me to say this, but relax and don't let this get to you too much. I lost a lot of sleep over my issue back then, and a few years later I realized it's just a car (err, bike in my case) and you'll have more important things to worry about. Good luck!

Roger, what kind of resolution are you hoping for? A buyback, new car, additional compensation? Have you made those demands clearly known to Kia yet?

Thanks for the positive words. I have read online that Lemon Law attorneys can or should only charge if you win. I forgot the legal term. Read it on a lemon lawyer website. They said not to use an attorney that charges up front in a Lemon Law case.

Most irritating thing is Kia's refusal to even speak with me. I am completely baffled by it. I suspect that they wanted to or still do want to try to pin this on me somehow. The Dealer and service department have made it clear to Kia that the bolts were not installed properly and fell out. But I feel that Kia is going to try to claim it was not their fault. I hope they do the right thing but their refusal to speak with me makes me think otherwise and that I will regrettably have to get an attorney involved.
I think the term is "contingency." If you can do that, my primary concerns (of investing too much of your own cash) is negated. That is a great thing.

I don't remember exactly why, but back when I was doing it, I thought paying up front was better, or my case wasn't solid enough for contingency according to my attorney.

Sent you a PM...

Update. Still cannot get anyone at Kia to reach out to me to discuss my issue and how it will be resolved. When I call the Premier support line about my case they will only tell me that people are looking in to the issue. I called the dealer this morning and spoke with the GM. I explained to him that no one at Kia will contact me. He apologized and said he had been told that Kia was working with me. I said that was not true. He said he was told early on not to touch the car and that a legal team was getting involved. He was asked by Kia if there was evidence that I had modified or dragged raced the car. I had a feeling they were going to try to blame me. An engineer finally came out and looked at the car along with the district manager and service tech. The GM said it was obvious the drive train bolts were not properly installed and fell out. He said Kia asked him to submit a repair quote. He told me this was a was a waste of time as an insurance company would total the car. He said it would be over $14,000 in parts alone and they would need to take the floor out of the car out and replace it and many welds. Despite this, Kia will still not talk to me.

Quickly everyone do the BMS brake snip!

Wow that is terrible. You need a new car. I wouldn't feel comfortable in one that had been through the wringer like that.

Agree with this... any updates?
Are they still providing you a loaner?

Kia never did provide a loaner. Instead they offered to send me to Enterprise Rent a car to rent a Kia Forte or Sol. Had to be one of these two cars and I declined.

Kia finally agreed to replace my Stinger with a new one back around the 3rd week of August. Problem now is getting the right car. My car was a GT2 Micro Blue with the light grey interior. A dealer 30 miles away had two Micro Blue GT2s and they sent one of them up to my dealer. 2019 Stinger GT2s no longer come in Micro Blue with the light grey interior. Very disappointing as the combination was a huge factor in my Stinger purchase. I went down to my dealer to look at the GT2 they had brought in and it had 18" wheels with all season tires so I rejected it. The other blue one 30 miles away also has 18" wheels. Never could understand a performance car like the Stinger having the 18" wheels with all season tires. I had purchased separate winter wheels and tires for my Stinger. On a side note, is was obvious the Stinger they brought in had been sitting for a long time without attention from anyone. Filthy and covered in water stains. My old one that has been sitting in the dealers back lot for nearly 2 months looks in much better condition. There are Micro Blue GT2s around the country with 19" in wheels and performance tires but they are not in my Kia dealership region and Kia will not ship them here. So as of now it is a wait game. I have told Kia, when the next new Micro Blue GT2 with 19" wheels is delivered to this region let me know and I will take it. It might be awhile as 2019 deliveries are ending and 2020 deliveries have not started. Also, Micro Blue seems to be rare around here now. 4 dealers within 70 miles of me and they are loaded with white and black Stingers and some red and grey and two blue ones with 18" wheels that have been sitting a long time.

Kia also said they would not cover the cost of the SunTek paint protection film and window tinting that i had done on my Stinger. I told them the cost of a rental car, had I taken it, would have been several times the cost of the paint protection and window tinting but they could care less.

Was this a lease or purchase? Are you still making payments right now?

was something wrong with your wheels from the original car? if not why not have them swap it over?

I leased it to get the lease cash back and then bought out the lease 2 weeks later. So car is all mine and paid for.

I wondered that too. I think Kia looks at each car as a complete unit and won't mix and match from other cars. Plus, given the condition of the car they brought in, the miles on it and the cooled seat function not working, and that my original Stinger had been used for months as the show room car, I decided I deserve a new one off the truck and am willing to wait for it.

I also asked about putting the grey interior and seats from my old Stinger into a new one and Kia said no.

Keep in mind if you settle for one that came from Kia with the 18" wheels you will also be getting a reduction in top speed governor.

I'm sure he's aware...

Yes, I knew about the speed limitation with 18" wheels. Plus I don't like the way the smaller wheels look and would not want all season tires on my Stinger. Performance tires for summer and winter tires for winter is what I go with.
I do the opposite to have an exhilarating, white knuckle ride every day.
