Wheel/size/offset and tire/size/profile...can be confusing.

Question for the group before I call the shop when they open back up tomorrow. I was planning to install the following:

225/40R/18 +35 18X8.5" in the front
255/35R/18 +40 18X9.5" in the rear

They mentioned they had some issues with the offset and had to change the tires due to rubbing - I just assumed they put the wrong tire on the wrong wheel and didn't think much of it until I started driving home and realized they mounted the 225 tire on the 9.5" wheel and there is a lottt of stretch. Does the setup above sound like it would rub? If so, would adding a spacer on the rear work? I do not want that much stretch on the rear.

You're not leaving it that way. So what's the issue? (Idiots putting the tires on, bassendackwards. I'm surprised they didn't put the 9.5 rims in front. Heh!)

My 19" rims are offset 39 in the back for the same width as yours. The fronts are also the same width as yours but my offset is 40. I don't know if that is helpful or not.

No, not leaving it that way, but mostly just wanting to verify that the wider tire in the back wouldn't rub in the current configuration, as I'm assuming that's what they are going to tell me was the case.

Your chosen package should be just fine.

Per my experience 9.5" +40s on the front are an absolute no go. (you are running 18s rather than 19s though)
If you have a GT1 or GT2 the rims might be in contact with your struts. Not sure on the models without active suspension. Very suspect to say the least.

Note from a few posts up, I mounted 19x9.5 +35 on the front and needed 5mm spacers. +40 would require 10mm spacers to be at the same safe distance that I am at.

Edit due to cross posting: The backs should be fine, there is a lot more room back there

They admitted to it being an error - will be remounted on Monday. Will try to not slide out of the stretched tire before then :)

Anyone know if backspacing is a value that would help determine in advance whether there'll be clearance issues with brakes, etc...(or whatever it tells us) or if it doesn't help? It *seems* like there's got to be some merit to looking at the number, but I'm no expert...that's why I started the thread.

Backspacing is circumstantial. Personally I’ve only used the value for verifying clearances based off other measurements (specifically offset) but that’s experience from a total of maybe 4 sets of wheels so I’m no expert. But these guys are the experts:

Fitmentindustries.com - they already have some stingers in their gallery and provide specs. I’m super impressed with their website

They have some super helpful videos on YouTube too

Second that. If/when I pull the trigger, it'll likely be there.

20a wouldn't work. The rear tire would be way too small compared to the front. Since that looks like the specs from my car you probably meant to put 285/30 vice 285/25.

A 285/25/20 mixed with 245/35/20 would look like this:

Are you running 20's all the way around with 285's in the back? Looking to do this on mine, but haven't really found anybody who's done it or said there wouldn't be issues in going that route.

I am. No issues. There's a few others as well.

Working on getting the new wheels and tires ordered. Has anyone run the Square 20A option? 265/30R20 with the +26 offset?

Unless you're going for 20x8, +26 is going to look like a Jeep, unless you've got a wide body kit, and 265 will probably rub in the fronT.

As the saying goes, give it a shot and report back!

Has anyone on here gone 1 size wider rubber on the stock 19 inch rims and if so were there any problem s :) ??
There should be no issues with this, if you're asking if you could run a 265 on the stock 8.5 rims, I think it would be fine. And 245 on the stock 8" front rims would be fine as well.

Thanks , yes as I went with Eibach springs which dropped the front 1.5 in and back 1.4 in , so on my stock rim s then I could go 265 back and 235 upfront and still have enough clearance up front hopefully that will work:) THx

Yeah, on eibachs there should be plenty of clearance for this, all my wheels are tucked ;)

Thanks, I had the tire priced out 2100 installed and , not cheap for the Michelin pilot 4 but these tire tires hold the road great and
I used the stock Michelin tires on the Area 27 circuit track for a track day so I just wanted to up to only one wider which should hold well for a DD and the rare track day :)

Probable dumb question...can I run 255/25/19 on the STOCK 19" Front Wheels? I assume I'll need spacers, any ideas on how much spacer I'd need?

TYPO! I meant 255/35/19...whoops!
