Stinger vs public opinion

Please keep in mind; most of us rebadging (myself included) did so using a ‘different” Korean spec KIA badge... NOT a Mercedes nor AUDI etc.... my badging was simply a choice of liking the other Kia badges better. “Engineering excellence”. We’re not faking anything... just proudly displaying our Stingers are a whole different breed of KIA. db

I understood what the "E" badge represents ... I try to make use of common sense and don't see why anyone is making changes ... I didn't buy into that with my six Mustang GT's ... nor with my '69 Mach 1 ... nor with my '93 LX 5.0 ... nor with my '95 Mustang Cobra ... nor with my '69 Nova SS ... nor with my SRT-4 ... nor with any of the dozens of other cars I've owned ... just doesn't make sense no matter what brand of car a person drives.

I really think it's just down to personal preference. Each to their own.

I personally think the stock "KIA" badges are ugly. I get that some people think otherwise - and that's their opinion that they're more than entitled to.

I'm not sold on the "E" badge - the attachment back to Kia and/or Stinger is too tenuous. I like the "Vintage K" badge - I think it is subtle and classy. I am not fussed on the oval Stinger badges - I find them a little busy.

The same can be said for other aspects of the car - I could never buy the orange or yellow, they're just too "out there" for my tastes. The red doesn't interest me either.

Same goes for the leather interior - some like the red, some like the beige/white/light grey, but the black is what I prefer.

It's all personal taste. None of it is wrong, either from me or from others. And certainly not worth arguing over.

Hey!! you take that back... you take that back right now... right now i tells ya!! Thems fightin words.

This is one reason why I have used a hair dryer (and patience) for this in the past - worried what damage a heat gun can do if it sits in one spot for too long...

It took me about 15 minutes to remove each badge. About 6' of dental floss, saw the old one off and Goo Gone to remove the adhesive. Put the badge back in using the "pegs" and the holes, then trace around the old badge, stick the new one on in the same spot as the old one.

The problem I have is some of the excuses people are using. Deflection at it's finest ...

I'm not sold on the "E" badge

Agreed, but the point remains that was not the badge delivered on many people's cars and the reasons they're trying to sell you for why they removed/exchanged it.

It's all personal taste. None of it is wrong, either from me or from others. And certainly not worth arguing over.

And there is we go our separate ways.

It's not just about "personal taste", it clearly goes deeper than that and many people just won't admit it. Regarding "not worth arguing over/none of it is wrong", I don't buy into our world's increasingly wishy washy attitude. Debate is fine and expected when something needs to be called out.

Man up people, take a stand!

Are you equally Communist in thought about people changing their wheels, tires, exhaust, intake, tuning their engine, or adding tint to their car? I mean, exactly how far do you take this whole "don't mod your car because it wasn't delivered that way" crusade?

I don't buy into our world's increasingly wishy washy attitude.

Might be a good time to leave the world, since you have so many problems with it and it's citizens. Maybe Mars would suit you better.

Debate is fine and expected when something needs to be called out.

This, I agree with, Comrade. But "calling out" people for what they choose to spend their money on to customize their car is stupid and makes you look like a control freak mod Nazi.

Man up people, take a stand!

Aren't you tough..."Manning up" and "Taking a stand"...on the internet...about car modding...Our very own John Rambo.

You are way too bothered by this. It is none of your business what other people do with their money or how they choose to modify their car. Live and let live, Comrade!

But it truly is personal taste.....how you could ascertain anything else is beyond me....all four badges I've seen represent the Kia Stinger automobile .... mine(word "stinger") the E , the broken K or stock Kia badge....in this country without a ton of research, we can only go buy what we've heard/read..... whether the broken K or the E are the official versions or the preceding versions for this company ,I'm not sure ....for MY taste , the SCRIPT stinger looks MOST APPROPRIATE on MY CAR! argue til you're blue in the face , I won't change unless paid too.... your opinion is just that.....it's not ILLEGAL to change badging nor am I ASHAMED of the Kia brand.....I proudly researched and owned a 2011 Optima for past 8yrs....my daughter now drives it.....I could have gone with a BIGGER named maker of autos but MY RESEARCH lead me to purchasing a STINGER......COMPLETELY overjoyed and hope to own it for the next 8yrs

No one here has to justify a single f’n thing to you. I think the badge I put on looks better than the badge that was on. Period. End of story. If I want to badge it with a merc badge or bmw or a freaking Ferrari badge, guess what, I will do it because I can. Why anyone else would even care I don’t know. I’m not sure what you think you are accomplishing here by “calling out” people on the internet other than looking like a fool.

"Broken K", lol. It's the K-Lexus "K". And it's intentional. I use it to enjoy mystifying people who ask about the car. Happens quite a lot. Twice on this trip so far.

Not K- laus or K-lingon?
Not on a Stinger, no. I first saw one of "our" "K" emblems before I even heard of the Stinger; probably on a Forte or Optima (before I noted the differences in those models either). Remember wondering when Lexus went to the fancy drop-tailed logo? :D Then without an answer to the mystery, I simply forgot about it and moved on.

Trying for the jinx? That's wrong on so many levels
No, trying for the realistic yet positive prediction. I want to know how wrap holds up on the grills and trim myself. Some have had discoloration (apparently permanent) on their dark chrome. Some might have experienced chipping, as I have on my lower, left grill: not like paint chipping away, but impact damage. And although it is minor, as time goes by it only accumulates: so I am wondering if dark chrome wrap is practical. It would certainly be tons less expensive than replacing an entire trim piece or grill.

Obviously I'll keep folk posted..... being infatuated with THIS car, I check it hourly!

But it truly is personal taste.....how you could ascertain anything else is beyond me....all four badges I've seen represent the Kia Stinger automobile ....

It goes far beyond personal taste....how you could determine anything else is beyond me....all OEM badges remain or there's other issues involved....mine (KIA words) were affixed to my car for the country that it was delivered, all other badging not OEM....only included are those placed on vehicles as designated by the manufacturer....we only buy what KIA produced and designed for that car....

And that is ENOUGH. Have a true distaste for posts that run on....and on....and on....ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S BELIEVED THAT REPEATED CAPITALIZATION EFFECTS TRUTH.

Making use of forum's "ignore" function....Engage.

Great idea. Just ignore everyone on the forum who has modified their car.

Once your great purge is complete I'm sure you'll enjoy talking to yourself, Comrade Stalin.
