2020 Stinger Rumors

There's a good chance the dealer did it locally, as it's a low-cost but almost universally popular change. Others have posted about dealer swapped badges on new stock as well.
That's what I thought at first, but I was there over the weekend and none of the new badged cars were there. Today (Wed Aug 07 2019) they had an orange GTS and 2 red GT2, 1 blue GT2, and 1 white GT2, all with the new badging. I looked at their mfr dates and they were all May. The other ones they had were on the lot last Sunday, and they were all mfr in Jan. All of those had the old Kia badging. The salesman told me these new cars all arrived last night, although who knows if he really knows when they came in. Anyhoo, the evidence strongly indicates the badging has been changed at the factory.

I went to a local dealer (Manassas, VA) and they had a few 2019's that were manufactured in May, and they all had the centered large Stinger script badge with the Kia badge removed! These were definitely 2019 models according to their Maroney stickers and VINs. I guess they are changing the rear badge layout for 2020, although I'm surprised they made the change before the model year switchover.

How did you determine they were manufactured in May?

Next to the Monroney sticker was a smaller sticker, probably about 5-inches square. It had a bunch of cryptic stuff on it, but a block with a 3-letter month. I compared the new red one I was looking at to the manufacturer label on the driver side door jam and they both stated "May." So, I am pretty confident that sticker had the mfr date embedded in it. Plus, all the old ones that were on the lot last Sunday had "Jan" on that sticker. Only the new ones had "Apr" and "May" on them. So, using this sticker, I was able to tell the mfr date without having to open all their doors!

If I remember correctly, the one with the "Apr" sticker also had the old Kia badging, which implies to me that they changed the production line in May some time. But, don't hold me to that, because I think the "Apr" car was a GT1, so I wasn't looking too closely at that one.

I found this interesting video from Mexico about 2020 Stinger. It looks like some new interior trim.

I like the carbon fiber trim on the interior. The GTS received the same.

Should I buy the current stinger or wait for the facelift?

Wait till the 2019 cars hit rock bottom prices and then pounce on one of those.

I just watched the 2020 review done by Asian Petrolhead on youtube. I noticed what looks like a switch on the passenger seat bolster. Does anyone know what it is for?

On other vehicles, it allows the rear passenger to adjust the seat in front of them. Obviously, the drivers side does not have it.

I had to look you up: had NO idea where Brunei Darrusalam is. But, you could be vacationing there? Mystery, on the Stinger Forum. :P

What is the best guess for when the market will bottom out on the 2019s?

Lease incentives on the 2018's continued to increase until May 2019, so the same could potentially happen for 2019's in 2020. Stock is the main issue. If you don't care about the color, you can hold out a long time. If you're financing or are particular about the color, I'd probably buy within a few months of 2020's hitting the lot.

My local dealership had 9 GT2 cars on the lot that I would have considered getting when I went by there a couple of weeks ago. When the 2020 models hit the lots they will be desperate to get rid of those cars.

The lease deals are already over $10k in lease cash alone for some GT2 cars. I think the 2018 GT2 lease rebates topped out somewhere north of $12k in May of 2019. However, sales last month were extremely strong for the Stinger so the deals might not increase that much until sales really start to slip.

Hahaha nope I was born and raised here. Not sure why it would make me a mystery in the forum:D. Just thinking of getting a stinger and wonder if it's worth to wait for the new facelift

There won't be a facelift on the 2020 Stinger. At the earliest you'll have to wait for model year 2021, which has no confirmed info on a facelift either.

If I were you I would buy now. There's no telling when a facelift will happen.

2020s have arrived at dealerships in Canada. Is there any confirmed differences? From the dealer-posted pictures, I can't see any. But I don't even know if those are pictures of 2020s or just old stock photos of 2019s.

Is there this passenger seat side lever so the driver can alter the passenger seat from the driving position? I've seen this in a recent photo.
