• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Is anyone running the Unichip plug and play Tune ?

I was a bit apprehensive myself but it was easier than I thought it would be, i just popped one side with the screwdriver handle and taped the chord onto a coat hanger wire I had cut down. Make sure you tape the sharp end so you don’t scratch anything while pushing through. The grommet sort of just covers the cord and seals the hole.

Thanks D-C! I'll give it a crack :)

Where is this grommet? I have a need to get wires from under-da-hood to inta-da-cabin...

Hi D-C & Terra,

Have you guys got any tips for trying to get the OBD cable through the firewall? I want to attempt this but a little worried I might be able to get the grommet back in place. Did you just pull it back into the cabin, run the cable through and then push it back in place?

Same here, I just taped the wire to a coat hanger and poked it at the outside edge of the grommet.

Has anyone been using the Unichip for a prolonged period, been through a few services, had no mechanical issues, or KIA picking up on any warranty issues?

If so, think I'm gonna bite the bullet and purchase one, be nice to have a little extra power "unlock its potential".

Sydney based, any recommendations on the best installers in the region.....

Thanks for any input!

I believe @Hemz may be able to help you. His initial tune wasn't up to expectations but Unichip arranged another at Blakehurst Automotive.

I'm very happy with mine. I'd recommend going through unichip to arrange a place for under $2k

I just had the car serviced and Kia didn't say anything. They will only say something if you are claiming for warranty on the engine...but if that were the case I would take it off before getting it serviced.

I just drove from Newcastle to Sydney and got 7.5L/100kms on eco map in eco Eco mode. But sport mode with 98 map gets me 7.9L/100km.... So might as well drive in sport with 98 map hahaha

Hey Hemz,

Have you just done the Unichip or other mods for the engine?

Thanks champ, I've been reading a lot about these piggy back ECU's and I have real concerns about the RB4 particularly with the spark plug issue.
They don't boost it high enough for spark plug concern it's literally running close to stock psi with all other timings modified better. Unichip guarantee it for a year and if your sparks did go all you need to do is pull chip out and claim warranty.

I'm going 12,000 KMs strong no issues in the slightest.

How the hell have you racked up 12000KM you only got the car a few months ago
Are you a courier using a stinger :D

Haha girlfriend lives in Sydney and I uber to fund my boxed console and custom PC obsession

Im honestly not sure....gotta be atleast 4.2 right?? Haha

With the jb4 is there any way to install it without drilling a hole in the firewall. Only reason say there is a warranty engine issue. Kia will look everywhere for a reason to deny warranty and they will find the hole in the firewall. Second if its jb4, uni, lap3 etc with uni do they alter boost like the jb4? The price is very attractive compared to uni.
