Stinger JB4 Pure Hybrid Turbo Testing

ZF built the transmission in the coupe so no it is not the same and not even a derivative of it. Level 10 does Optima/Sonata transmissions for them to handle the turbo upgrades Lap3 has for them.

ZF built the 6AT in the BK1 3.8. The 8AT in the BK2s are not ZF transmissions. Hyundai basically copied the ZF 8-speed as much as they could get away with in developing it, but Hyundai's 8ATs are all their own creation. The GC got one version, The sedans got another.
 
6 months in. Is the tune ironed out yet?

Really?! I wasn't aware, well that sucks :(. I had a lot of hopes on this project.
Im not 100% sure but thought I read that they put it on hold because pressertech couldn’t get it to work right or something like that.:unsure:
 
I haven't heard anything about it in months but last I heard they were still trying to get a solid flash map working on the car. Too bad as the power potential is there with the turbo hardware but without all the tuning details being lined up it's not going to really shine. Still holds the world record for fastest track verified Stinger 1/4 mile trap though as far as I know at around 123mph. :)
 
I'm still holding out hope for updates as I would love to do this turbo upgrade. I know PT has them available for sale, but it's not something I'd buy until a fix is there to get the most out of them.

Can anyone describe in more detail what the shifting/tranny issues are with this?

High 11s. They didn't care enough to post the details because it's not really representative of what the Pure turbos are capable of.

Yup I was talking to FF quite a bit. The times and traps they are getting are really impressive, but if its not mid to low 11s i dont think he will post anything. He still was very optimistic with working on tuning revisions to get this nailed down.

I am really glad to hear that. I have alot of hope on seeing this project come to fruition, as I would rather buy these over the competition.
 
FFP made some progress made with an 11.5@122 record run, but a new issue cropped up with what I think is the BOV blowing open post shift. We're going to up the spring and maybe move it away from ECU control over to manual control. See crappy looking log of the run attached. When boost is sorted easy 11.3s.

They have too much boost taper built in to the flash for these turbos and haven't yet figured out how to reduce it.

I assume this is contributing to the shifting problems they were/are having?

Either way, any news on figuring out a fuel solution to the increased boost from the higher flowing turbos? Personally, I don't want to run meth to make up for the lack of fueling, as it seems to thin out the oil big time in the upper portion of the cylinders. I'm hoping we can get a higher flowing and higher pressure in tank fuel pump to keep up with the bigger boost.
 
What tire setup are they using? 95.6 in the 1/8th is very impressive. Is this without WMI as well?

The low pressure pump isn't a limiting factor, problem is with the high pressure pump. You'll need WMI or chargepipe injection, to support significant power levels.
