Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

On another note the JB4 E85 gauge seems to be legit. Will know for sure once i hit the track and put some E85 on it.

This is a pretty cool feature and would have never know if not for @brancky3 lol.

I am skeptical about running map 5 but we will see what kind of time I get on map 3.

Honestly if your E85 number is above 25 on the app you won't have an issue with map 5 from what I've seen.

My goal is to get the number between 25 and 30. I am going to wait until I am close to empty and put 3 gallon of 93 and 1 gallon of E85.

If you can find E0 93 you get to add more 105 octane E85 and end up with 1-2 octane higher than if you start w E10 93 octane.
I'm going to have another run tomorrow. Morning temps high 40s moving up to low 60s. Barometric pressure is up. Trying E25 rather than E15. See if i can't drop the 11.87 down to a 11.83 or so to give you guys something harder to shoot for. ;)

Nice man go for it, you might get a better time.

You are already on top of the list lol at this point you are just showing off.

Would be interesting to see your results.

Dragy heartbreak
11.63 on the way to the track and 11.89 at the track.
My first of the day cool run bogged but hit 118.5. Too bad you only get one cool run. The 11.89 was at 117.5

At least it's in the 11s. :)

What happened to John's car?

Steve@BMS has our car racing today over at NoFLyZone Arizona. Hoping for decent 1/2 mile traps and kills. :)

I was the only Stinger both days. John warned me to stay away from opening day and today was even more busy but no breakdowns this week.
I bogged my third run also , added some straight gas and ran an 11.91 and headed out about 1:00. People were still in line for tech inspection at 1:00. Crazy.
Won't be trying the e25 again. Didnt help any and pretty sure it caused the boggs.
I was 4-0 even with 2 - 12.5s. Raced an audi, amg, and the same cadillac twice.

Need to monitor fuel pressure, AFR, etc, during runs to evaluate the tuning. Maybe you're running it too rich for an E25 mix. Always a balancing act.

I was logging. Afr was 12 at launch. 12.4 -12.5 during power brake. Throttle closed same as when the car is too cold.
The good launches where slightly leaner 12.6 when i let off the brake.

Your logging tools aren't really high resolution enough and with all the channels needed to properly analyze it IMHO.

Not sure if related to your issue but I've found when trans fluid is too cold it will lock you out of launch mode by bogging post shift. Happens sometimes if car has been parked a couple hrs then you go up to do a run.

What else do i in the log? You thought it was afr. Is 12 afr measured rich enough to bog E25?
For me if oil is 200 i never have the cold tranny bog and the bog runs were well above that. I did 3 runs in the first hour and run 1 and 3 bogged. For run 1 i arrived an hour before and drive the car a few times never letting the oil drop below 200.
Run 4 was hour and 15 wait and was fine.
Edit: just used my google twitter machine and the stoich afr of ethanol is 9 vs 14.7 for gas so at 12 I'm more lean with e25 than e0.

You want AFR in both banks, short term fuel trims in both banks, and high fuel pressure, to evaluate the fueling system. Ideally need low fuel pressure too but so far I haven't found a way to read it via CANbus and just ran a wire to the sensor physically from the JB4 for R&D.

If trans oil was hot enough then that wasn't it. Wasn't sure if you were aware of the behavior since you mentioned your first run was blown.

I use engine oil as a proxy for trans oil. What Torque labels as trans temp is actually coolant temp. I do have long and short term fuel trims but only bank 1 i think.

@Angel did you make it to the track?

Quiet weekend. When does your track open Brancky3?
I only have 1/8th mile tracks close to me which are already open - I need to get there soon before it starts getting crazy hot. The closest 1/4 mile track is almost 2 hours away so that's probably not going to happen honestly.

As long as I can run a 7.x 1/8th mile I'm completely satisfied.
