Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

@Terry@BMS I did one pull using Map8 and to test my recently installed WMI kit. I use 83% Ethanol instead of Meth. Is the drop in IGN1 something to be concerned about?

Timing looks great. It's mapped negative during shifts.

When doing logs, is there a preferred way? 3rd or 4th gear pulls, 0-60, 1st thru 4th, etc.?

Also, is there a “Reading Logs For Dummies” post/thread? Are there key things we should look for so we don’t constantly bombard you with logs?

Ive got a question for Ya'll Has this happened to any of the JB4 crowd? This is the second time this happened, and the car did it again yesterday. Okay im at the red light...light turns green in on map2 sport mode btw...so I give it prolly half throttle if that...and the car takes off faster than if I had matted it...no wheelspin but daaamn it shifted real fast on the 1 2 shift and then to 3 im waay out in front of traffic and since ive been to the 1/8 track twice lately I know that shifting into 3rd is 90 and an 1/8 mile in distance ..of course no dragy on since im not at 90 % throttle prolly no logging...well silly me I need to go check for a log...but this happened a while back and I shrugged it off as to a good thing....am I delusional? Im telling ya'll that the car left harder and shifted faster and reached a speed better than when I use launch control....and this was with half throttle...I was startled at first cause it left so hard....streets were dry, air was dry, and in the 50's :) Wash

interesting Wash! What rpm was it shifting at? I know what you mean kinda but I am still learning the car. For example sometimes the shifts are great and sometimes they are a little hesitant with jb4. Or it’s just more noticeable with jb4. I’ve only tried map2 a couple times. What exhaust mods do you have?

Any benefits to that?!
Benefits to what? Ethanol? Yes because it is not harmful to the body.
If you're asking about the WMI kit, hell yes!!!

Sounds like the difference is hooking up vs spinning freely.

I don't think that has anything to do with JB4... sport mode is extremely aggressive for pedal input in my experience. 50% throttle in sport feels like 75% throttle in comfort.

No runflat tire either. We just live dangerously.
you must have nicer roads over there than here. I've already had one blow out on the Stinger. I would never daily a car without a spare, it's saved me too many times.

Yes actually, my buddy and I have both noticed the partial throttle “super spool” boost effect and been trying to replicate it ourselves. So far 40-60% throttle seems to cause that effect more often. I even read something somewhere in this forum describing that exact phenomenon.

I think they said it was something to do with BOVs staying slightly open at partial throttle. This causes the blown off boost to be recirculated back into the turbos spooling them even faster! Also, any extra boost from a chip/tune would amplify that feeling. Basically its causing an open loop turbo effect from BOV air, and is why partial throttle feels quicker under the right circumstances.

Now if only there was a way to safely cause that “super spool” boost effect on demand, that would be a cool invention.:D

There is a JB4 setting to dampen part throttle boost mapping if you so prefer.

WoW Stung that's great news ! I thought I was a lil dazed and confused when this happened the first time, but after going to the track and then having it happen again and "seeing" the hard leaving from a stop and better than launch control with having the car kinda fall flat is a total surprise..and yes Kam there was no wheelspin which is even better...im going out on a limb but my 0 to 60 had to be an all time best even better than the track!
So when it happened my turnoff to my side street was maybe 70% of an 1/8 mile...the car was pulling so hard and shifting so fast I just let my turn off go by to see what the 2/3 shift was at...sorry guys wasn't looking at the tach nor the speed I was looking at my rearview mirror and judging how far I left the light and other cars especially the POPO cause that's where I live beside their station house.Yes I know I cant produce rpms or shift rpms or speedo, but I know this car and having been at the track just a couple of weeks ago...I can say I was haulin azz...so geez im gonna redo the jb4 for logging and try and duplicate this type of run....just imagine if we can leave this hard with no wheelspin and no boggy launch control ! maybe Terry can help us ? Wash

So I wonder if we can get this to happen at 50% throttle and then as its happening maybe go 100% on throttle...would it help or kill the super spool?
Im thinking Terry could reproduce this "super spool" if anyone could..and put it in a hex for us? Then we are getting around the stupid launch control and leaving hard and pulling hard

Sorry for any confusion but what Wash and I are talking about is not directly related to the JB4 or FUD Bit settings, as it happens with that setting on or off.

However, it does give a similar feeling like max boost is available at 30-50% pedal input. However the “super spool” is most noticeable with boost target only showing around 1.5-2.5psi, even though it feels like its at 5-6psi. It doesn't happen at all partial throttle ranges, and only seems to cause the "super spool" effect within a very narrow window of pedal/throttle input. We've accidentally done it a few times, but its difficult to repeat on demand.

Another words we wouldnt want to dampen that effect, we'd love to find a way to replicate and deliberately cause the "super spool" effect.

Seems fine! I'd update to v8 firmware and log map3.
