• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

What maybe stranger is the folks who organised it are based in Newcastle. They are doing a dummy run to map it out today. You can see them in Kia gt face book group.
I’m not on Facebook so will have to wait for someone on here to post it

Maybe it would go well including the ceramic coating? Just trying to think what my best option would be given the dealership are doing interior/exterior plus tint for only $1500.
Mate if the dealer is applying Protektiv to the exterior you won’t need to ceramic coat as well. I’ve got it on mine and I just use the bottle of shampoo they gave me made by motorone. No need to do anything fancy it shines up nicely with nothing more than a microfiber cloth. As for the PPF I don’t have it on mine, I’ve had a couple of stone chips on my bonnet but have fixed them with some touch up paint my neighbour made for me at the smash repairs place he works for. Given where the chips were I doubt PPF would’ve been any use unless I had it over my entire bonnet. Up to you but I’d say don’t waste your money on ceramic coating.

Wait hang on I'm confused....I thought protektiv was ceramic coating?? A mix of silicon Carbide and ceramic.

Protektiv HYDRO surface coating is made from a high performing formula combining Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Ceramic, delivering extreme durability, hardness and a permanent super gloss finish. Protektiv HYDRO transforms the vehicle's surfaces into super-hydrophobic coating providing a highly repellent vehicle finish.

Yeah but the way your posts read it sounded like you were looking at getting quotes for ceramic coating even though the dealer is doing the paint protection with Protektiv. My point was you don’t need another one, the one the dealer is doing is enough.

Oh no didn't mean it to sound like that, the question was there to see if I should get the dealer to have the car sent away for ppf on the front before they do their protective.

Fair enough, I haven’t got PPF some others do. The basic Kia package only covers a few leading edges at the front and the door handles I think. All of my stone chips so far have been between mid to bottom of the bonnet which is not where the PPF from Kia goes as far as I know. You could go crazy and cover the whole car or the whole front end but I’m not sure how it’d look. I like to keep mine in good condition but at the end of the day it’s a car and it’s there to be used. To each their own.

What would you say the diameter of the bonnet stone chips are? Because I'm looking at adding a service to my lease that includes free callouts for most minor damage but stone chip limit is 3mm.

They weren’t big, they stood out to me because I knew where they were but nobody really noticed unless I pointed them out. They’re painted over now anyway. I don’t know if it’s worth the extra $ for that service. Depends if you can afford the extra cash. It may be cheaper just to get a small bottle of touch up paint or a touch up pen from a smash repairer. It’s not like they happen every day. I can’t really say one way or the other mate. Do what’s best for you

I think I'll go ahead with it then because it will be gst and tax free so coming in at $999 X .9 X .625 ($562)...$4.30 a fortnight for peace of mind.
Thanks for confirming they are small.
I'm so excited to get the car...ended up ordering the number plate.
