3.3TT Kia Stinger 3.3TT SSR Downpipes +30WHP / +26WTQ NO TUNE!!!!! Dyno Runs and Testing

Stupid ? of the day. I have a full borla exhaust.
Can I add these down pipes to that. Is there any benefit at this point. If I can will there be any performance advantage or has the borla exhaust already taken care of that. Seems like all the fast cars have down pipes.
The borla is a cat back which is about half the exhaust. There are two more down pipes that both have cats. Replacing either is about 30 hp and both about 50. Most catbacks are 10-20 hp

any recommendations? which cats would you delete first? Will it pass inspection?
and the list gets longer, it never ends.

I would get mid pipes. It deletes the second cats. You won’t get any check engine light. It’s a mid pipe but most people call it a downpipe... I don’t know why.

I wouldn’t mess with the primary cats, but letting the secondary ones find their way off the won’t cause any issues as long as you don’t have visual inspections.

Wobbly is necessary for top bolts
At least for me

You and everyone else that recommended a impact wrench for the job are my heroes today.

I can't imagine if I had tried to do the job without it.

Thanks!

Let us know how it sounds with the thermal catback!

I barely notice a difference. Maybe slightly more "growly" but overall not really much different.

Still no drone. When not accelerating or under load the exhaust is silent.

I only drove about 3 miles though.

Do you mean an impact wrench? Good to hear the sound didnt change much.

Okay, just drove another 10 miles or so.

I retract the first statement. It's definitely louder. It isn't Borla/Ark loud but it's no longer the same ole tame/deep Thermal sound.

With the exception of the JB4 this is the only mod I've done to the car that I can actually feel a performance increase.

No drone! :D

Man I’m glad you did this.... now you can help with mine, haha!

It's really straight forward. Just get the car as high up as possible, use an impact wrench, and unbolt both sides before trying to remove either.

Got a lift, lol. Height is not an issue.

Still not messing with the plugs... I’ll drop a spring or something. Last time I cracked 2 plugs.

Crewdog130 is on Ft. Bragg... I’m just an enthusiast. THOSE guys work on GTR’s, Evo’s and M cars.

I just play around and turn bolts.

Lol glad it helped.
My first try with no impact ended in that hopeless despair feeling of wtf waste of time.
Good impact, 1/2" extensions and a wobbly makes this project a breeze.
Also torque limiting sticks are good so you dont snap bolts when tightening w impact. That would be a pretty bad booboo if that were to happen

Can anyone post a sound clip of the SSR DP paired with any catback?

I'm looking for that exact combo (JB4 w/fuel wires running map2 + Thermal CB + SSR DP) and would REALLY like to hear the final product :D

Also, can you elaborate on your impressions after each mod? Any issues with timing/ping/knock/CEL ??

Thank you!!

@Sales@Tork Since you asked this question in the ECU thread and it got deleted I will answer the question here since it pertains to the subject.
How are the SSR Muffler delete better than the Tork Muffeler deletes? (This was the question asked by Matt Tork)(I cancelled my order with Tork to get the SSR)
I will start....
1. SSR has dual tips and Tork is single tip.
2. Pricing Tork is $365 and SSR is $449....now when i called Matt and asked him how much it would be if i wanted dual tips he said it would be $100 extra bringing the total price to $465 more expensive than SSR.
3. The quality of the parts the craftsmanship and welds of the SSR are superior to Tork and the materials are much higher quality from SSR...if you put them side by side even Stevie Wonder can see the difference...Tork will say otherwise but the quality difference is undeniable....My friend bough the Tork muffler deletes and we put them side by side to my SSR and it day and night difference....He ended selling the Tork and buying the SSR muffler deletes
4. SSR offers lifetime warranty on their products Tork does not.
5. Last but not least the customer service from SSR is better than Tork, Shah picks the phone up every time and they will do anything to keep a customer happy.
Hope this helps future buyers...an by the way in no way shape or form am i sponsored by either, this just an honest review.

We are sorry you feel this way Angel. To each their own.

I'm super ignorant when it comes to exhaust systems - does this remove any of the emission management hardware or is this simply a less restrictive pipe from the exhaust manifold to the catalytic converter?

Does this actually make the exhaust louder or just deeper? I'm most interested in keeping the car feeling stock at cruising speeds (like with the Stillen intakes for example, they sound the same as stock unless the car is boosting hard).
I went to get these installed and the auto shop said they couldn’t do it because it removes the catalytic converter. It’s against the law for them to do it where I live. Now what?
