I bet it is. Or if Kia is smart - it is... I have a feeling UVO functionality is going to be added to the 2019...
I guess we shall see. It seems that up until now, they haven't been too keen on giving us that type of functionality in the US. I'm down for all the upgrades possible in 2019 though

Umm, if Kia was "smart" the feature would be there and be enabled already.. hahaha

This is the first I've seen that the alcantara headliner and remote start was going to be deleted from the US Stinger. Good luck changing the impression of your brand while finding as many ways as possible to strip value from the product you're selling, Kia.

Yep. The US market just got royally screwed lol. I would buy one in a heartbeat if I got what you guys got in Canada.

Indeed. Royally screwed, and I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the customers who preordered based on what they saw in Korean spec showroom cars come to take delivery of their stripped down US spec car. Local dealer had like 10 preorders when proudly displayed on this whiteboard near their display Stinger, so this definitely will be a issue.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I feel like this was discussed once, but how hard is it to fly/drive into Canada, buy a Stinger GT Limited, drive it back across the border and register it? Can it be done? Can it be done with financing?

No definitive answers, but information for someone willing to try...

Reading up on that a little bit and did a little bit of googling as well, it doesn't seem to be all that difficult providing you can get the letter from Kia. Even sounds like the warranty would be honored. The thing I cant find any info on at all is if you can finance it.... Not even sure who to ask about that. My bank? A Canadian bank? A Canadian dealer? If it can't be directly financed, then that basically means either dropping $40k US cash on it, or taking out an unsecured personal loan for 8+%. Neither of those options are very appealing, even if the car is $10-12k Cheaper up there. If I can clarify that part of it, I might seriously contact a Canadian dealer.

1) the letter may be difficult if not impossible to get. Basically the letter has to say it is the same car as what's sold in the US. We all know KMA had them change the exhaust so it's louder in america, so can they say it's the same car? I'm not sure
2) warranty coverage. I have not seen the canadian owners manual, I have seen the American manual. It specifically states that the car is only to be titled and registered in America and that is the only place the warranty would be honored. Does the Canadian one say the same thing? Why would Kia America agree to cover warranty items on a vehicle they did not make any money on?
3) the loan. I can all but guarantee you a bank in Canada will not give you a loan on a car you are going to register in the US. If you quit paying how would they repo it? Not with out a ton of extra work that is for sure. Not going to be worth it to them. As for an American bank, if you can get KMA to honor the warranty you might have a chance, if not I doubt any bank will loan you 50k for a brand new car with no warranty, maybe at a way higher rate if you put a ton down?

I would think the most one could expect would be reciprocity of the Canadian warranty, which isn't as long; definitely not the US warranty. I do think reciprocity is theoretically feasible, for example if a Canadian owner drove their Canadian Kia into the US on holiday, and suffered a mechanical issue in the US. Your point about the location specificity in the fine print is the likely catch, however.

I have to say i am pretty impressed with the amount of info on this site.

I am in the wait for 2019 camp. I am only interested in the base engine but want a few more features/color options. Probably better deals available down the road after the feeding frenzy dies down.

Missing UVO remote start and 360 camera is like selling you a Big Mac meal without the Big Mac but at least you get the McDonalds bag with napkins and fries.

Hey guys . local dealer in Canada who is preparing to have a customer in seattle come pick one up. Our stingers have U.S EPA Stickers.

You do pay a tariff when crossing the border.

Also no financing available. However Customer in this case got a line of credit. Will be able to register and insure car as well as Kia will honour warranty's.........

Wow, that's awesome. I'm assuming it'll be the Canadian warranty, correct? I might just have to look into this.

I don't know if I agree with that analogy. :p When you're buying a Big Mac meal - and the food is missing but the bag and napkins are there - I mean - that's like buying a car and you only get to take home the paperwork. :p I understand remote start and 360 camera are nice features - but the main objective you when buy a car is to drive it. The main objective when you buy a meal - is to eat it. You can drive the Stinger. You can't eat the bag and napkins. Well... Maybe you can... :p

That's why I said the fries are still there, once you finish the fries it makes you wanting more.
