What ONE change or feature would you add to the Stinger if you could?

normal auto shifter on the GT2.

after almost 2 years, its still weird pressing a Park button.
After 4 months or so of ownership, that's the one thing I'll never really get used to. I don't like it at all.
I'd much rather have a traditional gearshift stick that you pull towards you through the normal PRNDL pattern.
Sometimes a change just for the sake of a change is not always a good idea. Next thing you know, some manufacturer will put the gas pedal on the left side.

Third pedal would be fun, this is my fist automatic in 25 years (not counting a truck). Aside from that, I'd have liked to option a HUD and a bigger screen with additional gauges displayed (boost, eng and trans oil temps, etc.) Otherwise the base RWD GT is perfect for me (as Volfy mentioned, I have no use for a sunroof, and I might not have gotten a stinger if I had to have a sunroof in the 3.3.

Two things…I’d like to be able to roll the windows down/up with the key fob. My 2004 TL had that which I used often. Also, my 2011 JGC Overland had a radio option where you could program bands/artists you liked into the head unit and when one came on the radio on a different channel it would alert you. Kinda cool.

I'd like the 2.5 engine to be available in Europe, but with everything we could get here on the 2.0: adaptive suspension, LSD, bigger brakes and all the comfort stuff.
And I'd like to have a custom mode instead of sport+.

I can roll the windows down with the keyfob, but not back up. One out of two ain't bad.

Lots of things people mentioned here I agree with, and:
-wish my '19 AWD GT1 had the LSD. I'd love to pay for it, if it would work.
-wagon body (really miss the practicality / visibility of my '05 Legacy GT wagon - it was really good for those!)
-a few more inches rear legroom ideally, by having sliding seats where you trade more legroom for less trunk space. Would help tremendously with the road trips with 2 teenagers..Trunk space made up by a wagon form factor from previous point. I realize this is a hard thing, with safety rules and such. I just prefer taking the Stinger on road trips over the minivan..
-flex-fuel support (i.e. drive straight E85 or any mix, like our '15 Town and Country van). Even if the van doesn't get any more power out of it (no turbos), just having the option is nice. And I'm sure the tuning community could unlock that extra power in the Stinger.

I'd probably have paid an extra $10K for those features.

Manual 6 speed transmission ( rear mounted like the corvette would be even better ).

-wish my '19 AWD GT1 had the LSD (Limited Slip Differential). I'd love to pay for it, if it would work.
This one is actually relatively easy. I swapped out the open diff on my '19 2.0T for an LSD from a G70. It's mechanical so there are no wiring to worry about, unlike other cars with e-LSD. Well worth the upgrade.
lsd 1.webp
I just bought another LSD for my '23 2.5T. Will wait till the end-of-year holidays to do this install.

Was it just plug&play?
I actually have the opportunity to buy a very cheap J120 R3.727 LSD but thought it would be very hard to swap. The LSD was not available when I bought my car so I have the open diff on a RWD 2.0.
PS: Do you know the part number of your lsd diff?

I believe it's 53000-4J126. Between Stinger and G70, there are several assembly part numbers for the rear diff that are all LSD. The importantly part is the core 53080-47000. As long as the complete "differential carrier" contains the core, then it is an LSD, and they all have the same 3.538:1 ratio. They will have that silver label shown in my pic above - showing it's either STD or LSD.

The swap is not difficult. The hardest part was removing the two half shafts from the wheel hubs. I ended up removing the wheel hubs, because I was swapping out the rear brake splash shields (leftover job from the Brembo retrofit I did). Otherwise, the hub can probably stay on the car, and you might be able to remove enough of the suspension links to swing it out of the way. Taking it out complete does make the job more open though. The shaft splines were stuck in the wheel hub awfully tight. I had to use a sledge hammer to persuade it to come out. :)

Once the shaft splines came out (as show below), the haft shaft just pulled right out. Took a good hard yank to free it, though. From that point on, it's just a straight forward R&R of the diff assembly. It's possible as 1-person job, but having a helper makes it easier and safer. We did Eibach lowering springs at the same time, so we had to take out all the suspension parts anyway. That helped a good bit.

On a scale of 1 (oil change) to 10 (engine swap), I'd rate this one at a solid 4. An experience shadetree can handle it easily as a 1-day job. Otherwise, just reserve the whole weekend on it and take your time.

Thanks. I think you're the first person I've heard of who has swapped in an LSD on a stinger/g70 that didn't come with one. I wonder if the 3.3 diff swaps as easily? And if I can find a shop to do it for me.

The G70 6MT is the only 2.0T that came with an LSD. I know because we also have a '21 G70 6MT. The LSD on it is the same as on 3.3 G70/Stinger. They all have the exact same core p/n 53080-47000. Externally, they are also dimensionally identical. The job would be exactly the same.

BTW, back when I did my Brembo retrofit in late 2020, I couldn't find any online references of that either. There were some Genesis Coupe guys that did similar Brembo conversion, so I decided to take a chance on my Stinger.

The reason I bought the latest and now the last My23 Stinger GT which is the top of the range in Australia is because it seemed to have every feature and option imaginable on a car.

I think Kia may have held back just a little so that they could add additions on a My24 model which didn't eventuate.

I have said before but the one feature that would really be of value is a remote roll down window feature.

Setting the car to COOL on a hot day then blowing the air out before getting into it would have been really good value.

As for anything else? I think Kia covered it in this car.

There are TWO brand new Stinger GTs left in Car Dealers in Australia. No more.

I didn't realize it was the same LSD.. I guess it'll be super sturdy on the 2.0T..

Yes. That's a bonus for 2.0T and 2.5T guys. From Kia's POV as a manufacturer, it makes sense for the various trims to share as many common parts as possible, while still providing a marketable distinction between the trims.

Same applies to the rest of the car.

As for the one thing I would like... option for a top trim without moon roof. It bothers me that moonroof is automatically bundled into any model above the basement trim level. I have zero use for opening the roof. I don't even open my windows all that much. I would very much rather not carry the extra weight and bulk taking up headroom I need for wearing helmet at the track. I also would much rather not deal with potential rattle, leaks and shattered glass.

As the owner of a base gt, I feel completely opposite then you do. I've had sunroofs and T-tops on basically every car I've owned, even the Lightning has that smaller window that I open to let air in. I absolutely hate not having a sunroof. I'm kinda used to it now but it's one of the more glaring negatives to owning the base trim level. The others imo being no power tilt steering wheel and the horrible 7" screen. At least that I was able to swap/change, no swapping in a sunroof lol.

Other things I'd want done differently.....

Having the option to turn off the beep when I lock/unlock the car. The lights flashing is enough, don't need both.

Why doesn't my rear window defrost when I remote start the car? Isn't that the whole point?

Functional hood with heat extraction

Better sounding stock exhaust

Having stock wheels be square 19's, with different wheel options. Would be nice to be able to rotate the tires without buying aftermarket rims. Basically all gt's got the same rims unless you have a indigo blue, scorpion, grand tourer or the tribute. I feel like most cars have a couple different options of wheels to choose from, no? All Camaro, Mustang, Chargers have the same 1 factory wheel option?

Having the option to customize the screen display, background etc...

Slightly larger gas tank without the locking fuel door lid. That damn lid likes to freeze shut in the winter. I'd be fine with a regular ol lid that I can manually open.

A 2024 beyond model :(

Having the "special edition" cars with different themes. Not just a mix and match parts bin appearance package.

gts all carbon fiber trim inside/out

Indigo blue woodgrain interior trim to go with the brown

Scorpion/Grand Tourer all gloss black trim inside/out

All with - 400hp/400tq stock.

I'm sure there are far more drivers who like having a sun(moon)roof, than those of us who don't. And that's perfectly fine. My gripe is that Kia bundles it in such a way that only the base model can be had without moonroof.

Other mfrs offers moonroof as more-or-less an independent option, so just about any trim level can have it... or not have it.

I think you just described an AUDI!!!

I just ordered my LSD from somewhere in the UK. It is from a donor RWD Stinger 2.0 gt-line with only 12k miles on it.
Looking forward to fitting it before winter.
Thanks for the heads-up!

Funny thing about this. Back in 2018 when I test drove a GT1 on the fly, it had the normal parking delio. I was then waiting for them to run the numbers and I switched to buying a GT2 that was sitting on the showroom floor (she was sexy). I didn't even think about the park button (I was in awe that day). I did all the paper work and they had the car sitting outside waiting for me. The guy did a quick "tech" run-through, but nothing about the parking button. It was already started, so I put it in drive and off I went. I then looked at the "shift by wire" as I was cruising and thought...where in the hell is the P? I didn't even look at the button. I'm thinking...what the hell am I going to do when I get home? No joke! I was thinking...I'll slowly pull up to the garage and turn the car off (using the start button) and if it moves forward at least it just hits the garage. Once again, I was in awe and stuperment. I did remember the "auto hold", so I decided to pull over before I got home and used that as a way to "park" while I looked around. As I'm looking down...there it is...the P button! In any event, that's what you get when you do a fly by test drive and fall in love.
