What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

I paid 150.
Thanks, gives me a better idea of the price range to look for. Every shop I have taken it to the workers tend to get distracted asking about the car versus pricing the spoiler paint job. Maybe I should just go in my old truck with Kia paint code in hand and hopefully yield a better price.:)

If you didn’t let the car cool down after running it like that then it was still hot. After running your turbos hard you should let it set and idle for a couple minutes. Not only is it hard on the motor to shut down when hot like that it can burn the oil in the turbos bearings due to the turbos being to hot. That is why most cars that are modded with turbos have a “turbo timer”.
This is gold info Dustin. I suspected as much but hadn't seen any info and wondered if it was the same as years ago. Turbos spin super fast, and a few minutes of idle time makes sense - but it sucks when you are in a hurry!

Good idea and good luck.

Wrong. That used to be an issue with old turbos and turbo'ed engines. New oil additives and better cooling technologies prevent those kind of problems from happening. Newer cars, stock or modified no longer use turbo timers.

@NYLAWBIZ The fan staying on is good, it means that even though the you ran the car hard, it still needed to cool down some more, to prevent what @Dustin mentioned.

Here is a bit of info to explain taking care of modern turbos. Not nearly as sensitive as older ones, but good Engineering Explained video on it if you are a geek like me. I'm too new to include a sausage link, but you can cut and paste if you are interested.

I wouldn’t necessarily agree with the “wrong” statement. I have two “new technology” turbo chargers on my Cummins truck. The manufacturer recommended a turbo timer and cool down because of the possibility of burning the oil to the thrust bearings if shut down while hot. I run the newest synthetic oil on the market and still use a cool down timer. Not that I’m trying to disagree but there’s a lot of money involved to not let things cool down just a bit.

Had been finding spider webs in car but not the spider. Finally whilst detailing the car I saw a huge red back spider sitting in the HUD admiring himself. Consequently it was his last look at himself as I squished him!
Another dangerous Australian resident which if bitten can cause big issues. They grow to about 2 cms small but nasty.

Wow, 2 cm is a pretty meaty spider around here, if that is the body size. Fortunately most of our spiders are smaller, and a web-spinning nuisance more than a threat.

I did find a pretty substantial sized bee in my car the other day, which must have snuck in while I had the door open. Fortunately he took advantage when I opened the sunroof and headed off for parts unknown .. :)

2cm from leg to leg about the size of an American quarter coin.

Yes, I amended my reply to ask if that was body size - our spiders get to a similar size, but they aren't colorful like that one, and pretty harmless for the most part. Fortunately most of them left their dentures on the night table ...

I got my type-s spoiler back from paint today and installed. The paint match is spot on and it looks great!
That’s looks good, same style as mine + colour, how was the install, do you have pics of the tape placement?

It took longer to tape it than the install did. I used a single
strip on all four sides. The tape is very soft so overlapping the adjacent side then cutting the angle was very easy and allowed for no gaps at the corners. I then peeled the corners of the different sections back leaving a tail. Set the piece and lined it up then just pulled the tape back while in place. I did not use the supplied tape as it seemed a little thin. I did get wider 1/2” 3M tape. Overall maybe a 15 minute job. A side note, I held the edge of the tape a hair away from the edge of the spoiler maybe a 1/16”. I was concerned with being able to see a tape edge. The tape is completely unseen.

Got the LAP3 chip and new sparkplugs installed yesterday evening. Now just waiting on the exhaust to show up. Probably intake/intercooler after that.

In that context, then I will have to agree with you. We are referring to two very different platforms and turbo technologies. The Stinger 3.3 uses ball bearing turbos, which spool a lot faster and are less punishing on the oil, due to the reduced friction, when compared to the thrust/journal bearing turbos. In the case of the diesel engines, I can definitely understand the advantage of letting things cool down a bit before shutting it off as those engines tend to run hotter than gasoline.

Looking good, NYLAWBIZ sweet rim protection. (Where you find that?) Air intake is sweet to..... that car, wicked!

Yeah I thought this was kind of odd the stinger didn't do it. On the Golf R when you shut off the engine you hear all these odd sounds, sounded like an old fax machine dialing. Apparently it was solenoids going off to keep fluids running for a bit more after the engine was turned off.

THX, NY. little color on rims looks good and protective.
