What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

OEM plugs are HKS or NGK (I forget) and will run about $25-30ea, so that's not out of line cost wise. I do question such a low replacement interval on a stock engine.

Densos are cheaper, but don't last as long. The dealer won't use them anyway, so not a fair comparison.

Since the service manual states that the intake manifold has to be removed to change plugs, the "book time" is probably about 3 hours (at $100/hr). In reality, they can be changed without removing the manifold in about an hour.
Dealers only go by "book time", you'll have to go to an independent mechanic for a realistic price.

cabin filter takes 3minutes, dealer probably charged you $50.
Not sure what a "turbo filter" is. If they mean the intake filters, that's another 5 minute change for probably way too much money.

Almost got side swiped by some a$shole getting off the expressway. Literally the second he (she, it?) began straightening out, he (she, it?) started coming over. Don't think it even checked mirrors to make sure no one was there. I don't mind folks taking off ramps fast, but stay in your damn lane! Went left as far as I could (car on my left), probably came within a foot of me. I'll check the dash cam later to see what it caught. That far right lane is at least 3/4 block long, plenty of space to merge over safely.

Lesson, never be next to someone as they're coming off a ramp. They hand out licenses to any one in IL.

Lol. In Sydney ( Australia ) that's pretty much how most people drive now days. A large percentage of the time, the A-hole is driving an Audi or some other European machine.

As for licenses, I'm sure they hand em out to anyone just for fun and to keep us on our guard. There's no other reason I can think of that people so incompetent are allowed to drive....

I am experiencing a level of stress, as NAV is at Jerry Seiner Kia for service: I got a Lyft ride home, since the minimum possible time is over six hours to do the following: oil change/basic service; 45K miles service (turbo filters and cabin filter are part of that); recommended spark plugs change; find out what is wrong with the TPMS. The spark plugs were totally unplanned, sort of like an ambush, frankly. And those dang things are $34 apiece!? Three hours labor. All damages added together are going to go over a thousand dollars: I can't even say how much, if anything, the TPMS is going to add to that.
IMO doing the plugs at ~45K miles is a good idea since they will be starting to deteriorate and removing them and inspecting them will give you an idea of what's going on inside your combustion chambers.

You are correct. I just checked my manual (2022), there too, for the 3.3L they recommend 42K miles. Under severe use they say more frequently. My guess is to maintain vehicle performance? Although, at my rate of driving, 42 (or 48K for the 2.5) might very well take me a decade to reach.

A, D, F, G, sometimes K, seems to apply in my use.
Lol. Love the list. Every car is severely driven.
Idk off the top of my head, but the Denso i used were like 10 a plug.

Other than the original quoted cost of $34/plug, everything is in line: they charged me $20/plug; and knocked some of the labor off: total plugs job was $416.90.

"P6 In-Cabin Air Filter Inspect/Replace" was $19.95; and "1 S9C79-AC100 Filter-Combi Air Con" was $28.25: so, it looks like your estimate isn't far off.

It says "P4 Air Filter Replacement", so probably what you're referring to (I don't know how I processed that as "turbo filters"; remember, not a car guy): cost was a total of $51.60.

The rest was 45K miles inspection, cleaning and adjustment/replacement stuff (like brake fluid). With the plugs job, I got out of there under a thousand dollars (which makes me feel better, as I was expecting it to go over a thousand dollars).

Factory is NGK. HKS is a tuner company and doesn't really supply OE equipment as far as I know. Denso will easily outlast the factory interval on an stock car, they are not really inferior to NGKs, they're still iridium. OE is this and it's still sub $10 More Information for NGK 97976

To be honest every service interval has you at least inspect the filters (Surprise! that means taking them out, inspecting them and putting them back in if good) so labor for replacing them should already be included in the normal service cost unless they are now charging labor for opening the box the new filters came in :)

My mistake on NGK cost, but 100% dealer markup is not unheard of.
I guess I'm just used to my densos only lasting 12k.

Filter replacement costs are high, but not hateful. $300 labor to change plugs though....ouch.

The jap bikes have always used ngk plugs. Bikes revving 9-15Krpm. ND is also a japanese brand, so go figure. Unless car has a tune and tuner recommends a specific plug, I'd stick with whatever plug part number came out.

UPDATE: Repair quote is in. New front fender, straighten driver door, replace skin on rear door, and fix mirror for the bargain price of $2750. Two weeks to fix.
Just curious how long did this take? Any issues getting a replacement for the mirror assembly? My car has been in shop in Marietta for a week and they're telling me the mirror and a piece of body trim is back ordered.

They might be telling you the truth. Kia isn't exactly quick on orders. And from what ive experienced definitely dont keep a large stock. Again just my opinion. Hope you get your ride back quick though

Carbon fiber license plate frame. :) (the only CF on the car, hah)

Changed plugs and add EWG wires the other day. Second time doing plugs, coilpack bolts were much less of pita. For the EWG’s I removed my Injens allowing tons of room for my little mitts to get the job done easy peasy. All in all it was a couple of fun projects and time well spent with baby.

About to install vanities in the engine bay.

I get fuzzy over car washes and my jb4 unit exposed.
An idea…Get some Velcro and secure the JB4 to the fuse box too. I love the Vanity cover. Looks great!
