What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Finally decided the "special K" was done. :D They came off easier than I feared. The front skin was always a bit "up" along the two long edges, so I expected it would lift off easier, but actually the rear skin came off twice as fast.

They weren't bent enough to be ruined: I could smooth the edges and put them back on. But I won't. If I ever want to put skins on again, I'll buy fresh, new ones. The front one, now that I have it off, shows some minor road attrition; not surprising after two and a half years. These held up really well.

When I had them off, I got all the glue off the OE badges with my fingernail, then I cleaned everything with distilled water (it has ONR in it); then removed and remaining glue residue with nail polish remover. There were some scratches from the plastic letter opener that I used to pry the skins off. I used Meguiar's rubbing compound first; then 2000 grit wet sandpaper directly on the scratches: got probably 90% of the scratches off, and the flaws are knocked back enough that I am satisfied for now: might work on them more later, or not, depending. Applied rubbing compound again. Final step was to use Meg's polishing compound. The badges look virtually brand new.

And as soon as I had taken the pics, I went out and sported KIA by doing a circuit of Old Bingham Hwy and the Bungler Hwy. (I could hear NAV purring. :D)

It's an impressionist "K", not an L. But I understand. My "K" skins are two and a half years on; still look good; but I haven't seen anyone get messed with by having them in a long time; so, increasingly, I'm of a mind to pull them and return to the stock
Well, not today, but last year swapped out factory air filters for K & N filters.
Had them since Jan. 2020, but waited for o.e. to get dirty first.. haha. they still weren't so dirty when I took them out.
Never did get to the track before the swap, so I can know a before and after on 1/4 mile runs... I suspect they'd help a bit for sure.
just 0-100 runs I've done sine, I get a we bit faster times, just a wee bit, but I suspect more effective in 1/4 mile.

Will eventually get some GT and Stinger badges to swap out too... I don't like the E and L ones. i don't get those ? E for excellence or what the heck does it stand for ? and the L looks like a Lexus, so that's kind of dumb too.
I saw one in my town the other day and I assumed it was a Lexus, until 1-2 seconds I realized Dah, it's a stinger.. oh yah, that stupid L badge... No weird ones for me.. It's a Kia and a Stinger so a fancy K or S is cool but E and L ?? or a logo of an animal or a lighting bolt or some cool logo...
Anyways. no offense to those who go with them, but I just don't get them ?
Hopefully this makes sense...
Personally i see no issue with either opinion. Every car owner builds it to how they want to see it. Just because i like what i walk up to every day doesn't mean you have too. I was taught to respect the effort and time that goes into car builds, whether Its something i would do or not. I'm running the E, but i wll proudly tell anyone that asks that is a Kia. That being said why should i get butt hurt if you think its silly running a different badge? I shouldn't and i don't. Its simple, your ride your style, my ride my style, no right or wrong. This is what car clubs used to be "built" on.

I agree, I don't care what others think either and I respect your decision too. I am only saying that "I" don't get it. Not because it's not a kia emblem, because I don't know what the E symbol is for ? and the fancy K, I think is a great idea, but sadly the designer made it look like a "L".. It's a cool looking symbol, sadly people behind you will think it's a Lexus... and we don't want that, right.
I'm switching mine to the Stinger emblem for the front and my steering wheel and the GT overlay for the wheel caps..

Mustang puts a horse as does Ferarri, and a whatever else is out there.. ... What does the E stand for again ? Someone mentioned it, I think and I forget...

From what ive read its a badge that was used only in Korea. From my understanding it was for excellence. Yea im with you on Huh? Think it had to do with showing what Kia was capable of, dont hold me to that. I know that my dealers service writer had told me that Kia considered the Stnger K900 and Telluride as their premium line. So there maybe some legitimacy to the excellence story. Personally like the look of the E so i ran with it. As for the "k", i agree, for me just a hair too much "L". 1st one i saw was on a K900. I thought it was a cool spin definitely, but it did take a second for me to realize what it was.

"East", as in Far East. Works for me. :P It's a nice looking "E", I think.

Kia designed this E logo to show what the Stinger represents: Engineered by Excellence, Exclusive, Exquisite, Evolutionary

That sounds like a cool thing for them to make an E logo to represent what they believe they're doing and it is a very nice fancy looking E... Just prefer a symbol, cause a single Letter suggests the name of the car.
A star is a symbol known to represent Excellence, and I guess that's why Mercedes uses one for their logo.
Maybe a star design of some kind would be cool ?

Anyways, on the E, I do have more respect for it if it's their symbol to make Excellence in Achievement.
Maybe I'll get one to replace the small stinger word at rear lower left I'm going to remove., so it'll be together with the larger Stinger going up in the rear middle.
Would it fit or stick on to that part of the car or is it designed to only fit into the front slot ?

Re: the fancy K, they just need to make it look a bit more like a "K" and I'd love that one too.

To Koreans, an "E" is a symbol.

I see a caltrop in profile. MB's way of saying to the competition, "Take that, you suckers!" :D

Thats a cool twist to do. They are relatively flat so it could work. They aren't super expensive so its not like taking a big loss if it doesn't work like you'd want.

So I met a local Stinger friend and picked up the rear Stinger emblem and decided to grab the E badge too. It's growing on me not that I know more about it and it looks cool too.
Just gotta get the steering wheel and wheel cap GT stickers from the site here from the forum.

But Gotta wait for warmer weather for the rear emblem to go on. Cant trust it'll stick on strong in minus -10 degrees celsius, even if use hair dryer to take off and warm up the area.
