What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Snow...That’s one thing we don’t have to worry about in Perth. Must wreck havoc on your cars.
..................snow, ice and cold temperatures .....................then they put salt and sand on roads .....................Winter can be tough on cars in some Northern areas !! ............but hey we don't get melted dashboards !!! Bawaaaaaa

Ha, at least you've heard of it - snow that is. It's something you are getting used to deal with. But after 50 years in Canada, one gets tired of shoveling snow...Forecast for Calgary (out west) is 1m of snow in the next couple of days - or at least the possibility of it. So for the really cold month, you like to escape south or somewhere warmer. But the winter is glorious. You find the bluest skies and the whitest snow. Really great.
In respect to cars, yes, if you don't do anything about it. But yearly rustproofing makes a huge difference. It really keeps the salt and moisture at bay. My 1998 F-150 is in great shape. Every panel still 100% solid, no peeling paint, and of course no rust. My mechanic would like to buy it. It's got just 300,000km on it. I am a firm believer in rustproofing when you have to deal with 4 seasons or 10 in Minnesota. :)

It's cool for a few hours. Then it becomes a pain. With regards to snow, I much prefer living in California, where we drive TO the snow when we WANT to, compared to living 25 years in Canada, where you don't really get much of a choice about shoveling it or not..

Not wrong about being tough on cars I was in Niagara Falls & Toronto a couple of years ago & I was amazed at the amount of rust in the cars from your harsh winters.
I’ll take melted dashboards any day, most of us try to park in the shade & also have tinted windows.

My dash mat does a fine job at not letting my dash melt :D

My Stinger is kept garaged at home and always has a windscreen shade when parked outside. Haven’t thought about a dash mat yet but always a good idea.

Mine too is undercover at home & garaged at work....I’m so lucky in this aspect, car is not hammered by the harsh Aussie sun & also stays cleaner so much longer.

That is great you can park undercover at work. I don’t have that luxury so I use a daily driver for my day shifts and take the Stinger on my night shifts. As well as the sun and heat in summer, the cars get covered in all sorts of crap. Good to keep it out of the elements.

Yep such a bonus, had that same spot now almost 17 years.

I bought the Kia dash mat when I got the car, had it since day 1. I also use a sun shade for the front window but it doesn’t fit properly and no doubt this summer I’ll continue my search for a better fitting one when it starts to annoy me. The generic sizes of sunshades available are either just a tiny bit too big or a tiny bit too small for the Stinger front window

You can get custom fit sunshades from the US only problem is exchange rate & bloody ridiculous freight/postage charges that border on theft.

I find the best sunshades are the ones you put on the outside. This stops the heat coming inside and they fit far better. Got one off eBay for about 20 bucks. Use it on my daily driver in summer. Covers the whole windcreen.

My Stinger is my daily driver, I try to get it under cover on my day shifts and keep it away from the trees that hang over the uncovered parking spaces. Night shift isn’t usually an issue getting a covered spot, but it’s only ever partially covered, if I nose in, the back end is still exposed but it’s better than all of it. Still gets covered in dust and lately pollen even when under cover. The only truly covered spots are on the lower level car parks but they’re reserved for the work cars and the bosses. Middle management like me don’t get the luxury of the basement car park. That being said the basement is a bit tight for maneuvering and more risk of someone rubbing against or scratching while trying to get into a work car so there’s pros and cons to each I guess.

I prefer inside the window, don’t have to worry about wind etc and less likely to be stolen by the grubs that frequent car parks
