For all who think twin and hi are the same, just a little info. They are very different setups.

Twins are identical turbos on the motor, when sized correctly, they produce higher pressure than what would be possible with a bi setup but are more vulnerable to turbo lag.

Biturbos are just 2 turbos, 2 different sized turbos to provide boost throughout the Rev range. This setup gives more linear power and much less vulnerable to turbo lag because when the smaller turbo has reached threshold, the larger turbo has begun spooling which gives equal pressure across most of the rev range. Biturbos sounds like the best thing possible because of the linear power but there are downsides, less boost=less power, and it's not just repaired by adding a larger big turbo because then the smaller turbo must be upgraded to hand over boost levels without drop in power in the middle of the rev range; adding a bigger small turbo in this setup then introduces lag which the biturbo idea was to solve in the first place lol.

Biturbo is a more complex system in boost regulation of the 2 systems, and is the less reliable system due to turbo size difference and the 2 fighting eachother with boost when the other is not pressing; added complexity to anything results in loss of reliability.

Reliability does not equal durability, the parts may be durable, but having 1 part is always more reliable than having 2, it has half the chance of breaking. Pressure monitoring and regulation is a big difference in the 2 setups and twin turbo have a simpler pressure regulation system that treats the twins as 1 because they have a common spool point and threshold. Biturbo turbos may not actually be different in physical size but they have different output size, each application is engineered a specific way.

Each turbo was supplied by the exhaust gas from the nearby cylinder bank. Compressed fresh air from the two turbos joined in a common intake plenum and supplied all six cylinders. This simple arrangement is still being used by the majority of twin-turbo engines today.

Well, someone would have to go complain to Nissan about my 1990 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo if they think that twin turbos specifically means two different sized turbos that are not twins.

Biturbo or twin turbo; take your pick, but I wouldn't call it a twin turbo if the turbos aren't twins
