What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Nice, are you happy with the paint & fit?
The raw finish of the spoiler left a lot to be desired. He did a really good job allround . He said he added an extra coat. He had it ready yesterday! Done in one day, I rang him today and he fitted while I waited , the paint work to me looks flawless. When I saw an older guy at the back with a spray gun I thought that's a good sign.

I put a dent in my alloy wheel too on Tuesday. You should have heard me when I got out to have a look ....I put the wharfies to shame with what words came out of my mouth! Lol. Was coming out of Penrith Plaza carpark and hit the bloody concrete step that separates the two lanes. I didn't even know it was there! I found out the hard way. Have contacted a mobile wheel repairer and they quoted $160 to repair it, but I think I might wait until after Christmas. If I jumped up and got things repaired every time there was a small chip or dent I would be a nervous wreck!
Ouch! Mine was actually way worse. Hit a pothole about 2 weeks into ownership. Scraped up half the rim pretty badly but also took a chunk out of my tire. When I took the car in for it's first complimentary oil change, the service guy mentioned the damage. He asked if I had purchased the wheel/tire protection package. Unfortunately, I hadn't but he told me I could still purchase it now and to just wait about 30 days and bring the car in for repair. They quoted me $250 on coverage for 30 months (the remainder of my lease). Sure enough, brought the vehicle back in 30 days later and they replaced the tire (about $300+ retail) and repaired the rim (I figure at least another $200 retail). No deductible. I figured out the reason for the post-incident insurance offer was because the dealership sells the coverage but it is thru a 3rd party vendor. Therefore, the dealer gets the commission on the sale of the coverage but the vendor gets hit with the cost of repair/replacement. BTW, there is no cost limits on the coverage, as long as it's within the term of the agreement. Might be something to look into...

I

I'm just going to leave it how it is. Bugger the mucking around to possibly make things worse
That is sensible. However, I'd never finish up with anything less than 2000 wet/dry. You have to finish up with wet/dry fine grit, or else the surface will stay "grey" as @ShannonC said. Even fine grit used dry won't polish up the surface. The key ingredient for "finishing" up the repair to an acceptably smooth appearance is fine grit wet/dry paper. I'd even recommend getting 4000 grit wet/dry: I just used what I had lying around the house.

There is no way that you can make the wheel look worse by just sanding with finger pressure and finishing up the smoothed out area with fine grit wet/dry. What could possibly go wrong? As long as you stay as close to the damaged spot as possible (i.e. don't go wildly sanding past the damage onto the adjacent clear coat), all you're doing is smoothing out what the curb did to your rim. Once the heavy grit has taken down the rashed metal, you go finer grit, and then lastly WET/dry; use lots of water, dip the paper often, even soak it in a cup of water for ten minutes before using it. If you try and ignore the damage, it will eat at your soul! (if you are as OC - or worse than - I am :))

As I said, the polished surfaces still look good, shiny without any clear coat on them. I already know that when they show indications of getting dulled out, I can restore them by applying wet/dry paper again and it will go swiftly getting the polished look back. Is this a final fix? Not likely. "Wheel Werks" will probably see me sometime next year; or, I will order brand new replacement rims if the repair cost is too high.

Put my OEM rubber mats in. Lol, I was thinking of just laying them on top of the carpet mats, and there is a warning in all caps: "DO NOT PLACE ON TOP OF EXISTING FLOOR MATS" :D

SS Footrest!
Some us RHD guys are trying to get info on these, we got crappy plastic ones, any chance of detailed photos of how it is fitted & postioning against the side wall of the footwell, plus some accurate measurements including mounting hole centres etc. also if posible the Kia Part Number, I would be interested to see if this will fit RHD models with little or no modification.

Lol. I had no idea my footrest was "cool". I'll see what I can do with pics tomorrow. I thought that all Stingers came with these; aside from the aluminum fitment of course; I knew that is an optional thing.

Thanks, appreciate that, this is what we get, I’m guessing if it doesn’t have this same profile & fitting locations then no need to go to too much bother.62C35680-5027-4CF4-AF52-7A170F7AB524.webp

To my eye it looks exactly the same, just sans cool aluminum fitment. A pic or two tomorrow should settle the question.

I can see what appear to be the same metal footrest on eBay, either rectangular or with that slight angle at the top left. Just searched “Kia stinger aluminum foot rest”.

Have been down this route, just tried it again as you suggest nothing is showing up on AU EBay site thanks for the suggestion, I’m after an OE one that will hopefully fit & if we can get the Kia Part Number.

It shits me that we got stuck with the crappy plastic version it just doesn’t look complete. It’s like they built a small amount shipped them on the North American modes and didn’t have enough for the rest of the world

They look pretty good would be interested in that.

Now looking at all these footwell pics I can say that you should all be ashamed of your selves, dirty carpets, scuff marks on door sill, you should all be shot! Lol
Don’t you guys bang your feet together before you get in?

I think it’s because we are RHD, I bet NZ, UK & Singapore didn’t get them either.
