Thanks for this update sabs, I was tracking to buy this year but this market still sucks for the 2019-2021 gt2. Loving our telluride though!

I just started the purchase process of a 22 GT2 AWD on carvana. It has 9,000 miles, and was $52,500. It’s ceramic silver and the original window sticker says the MSRP was just shy of 56k after desitination. I had a 2021 TLX that I was leasing, and was able to get $1,700 more than the lease buyout, so I sold that back to the dealer (who matched a CarMax offer) and pulled the trigger on the stinger.

There were some that were less, and ideally I wanted RWD, but trying to buy out of state and ship to Oregon was a nightmare, so carvana offered the path of least resistance while still being competitive on price.

Have you checked AutoTrader? I think that you might be able to do better than what Carvana is offering. That's exactly what I paid for mine about 2-weeks ago and it is also AWD, the Scorpion Edition, Certified Pre-Owned and with 2,000 miles. CPO was very important to me as when not a CPO you only get half of the normal Kia warranty.

I did check auto trader. Unfortunately for me, shipping to Oregon was adding 2000-3000 to the total of each deal, and was also complicating financing through my credit union, which has me at 2.74%, which no dealer can/would match.

The car I ended up with is certified, which is great, so there are still nearly 4.5 years and 51000 miles on the bumper to bumper warranty.

I thought certified car keeps factory 10/100k warranty

With Oregon not having sales tax, there’s a lot of fuckery from dealerships in terms of getting a car here knowing I avoid sales tax if it’s shipped. I found a 22 GT2 RWD for 50,000 flat that I loved but it was going to be impossible to get it here without paying Cali sales tax, financing through their dealership at 5%+ (even with great credit), or paying cash for the car (which I technically could have done but didn’t want to). Carvana was the path of least resistance, so I was willing to pay a premium.

Yeah, shipping might not always be cost effective. I also bought from out of state but it was cheaper for me to get a round trip plane ticket and go pick up the car, even if it meant losing the return ticket than pay shipping. Most of the times when you request shipping quotes you are dealing with brokers who are not the one's providing the service. They tell you they have availability until the actual transporter says that they don't and you have to sit and wait.

In terms of financing, you could have just have your bank pre-approved you and they would give you a check at their rate. My credit union gave me a blank check for any vehicle that I wanted to purchase and the only thing I had to do was fill it out with the remaining amount after my down payment. Having dealt with a Hyundai that required an entire engine replacement right at the five year mark, I did not want to risk leaving any warranty period on the table.

Kia dealerships are the only ones that can sell Kia Certified Pre-Owned and you get the remainder of the 10-year/100,000 mile. With my vehicle only having 2,000 miles, I still get the 98,000 remainder or the nine-years and nine months whichever comes first. I actually passed on a 2022 AWD Scorpion (the same vehicle I bought) with 89 miles on it because it wasn't certified. Cutting the warranty in half was not a risk I was willing to take especially not on a Kia or a $52,000 purchase.

Certified by Kia, Yes... Certified by a third party, No you only get half of the Kia Powertrain warranty. You can get an extended warranty but it will cost you plus it often does not cover towing/roadside assistance, rentals, and the deductible is higher.

June update. Prices on GT2's are down a bit.

GT's and GT1's are up a bit in price. Could be due to more limited supply than past months. As the Stinger ages, I expect prices on the GT/GT1 to continue to get closer to those of GT2's.

In my area, I rarely see GTs for sale, if I see one, it usually doesn't last long, meanwhile, the same gt2s languish for weeks. I'm guessing because of the lower price to get into the 3.3 tt

I'm currently looking at an '18 GT1 with 40k miles and it's going for 33.. curious if anyone think that's a good deal or not?

That seems like a good deal to me. I just paid $37.5k for a 2019 gt1 with 56k miles in mid June. To a lot probably overpaid but I’m really happy with the car and it’s been solid so far.

Damn that's crazy. When I bought my base awd gt new in 2020 a new 2020 awd gt1 was costing 40-41k, gt2 was 45k or so when I was looking.

Yes you guys overpaid compared to precovid prices but since the entire car market went bananas it's probably a decent deal now.

Yep not much of a way around it right now other than not buying in this market. I went from a 2021 F150 that I was able to sell for more than I paid even during covid to this Stinger while trying to reduce my monthly payment by $100 a month and get a more performance oriented vehicle and ditching the truck I wasn’t using enough for its purpose. That 3.5 ecoboost in the ‘21 f150 with 500 torque was no slouch though but the Stinger definitely takes it in the fun to drive category.

Didn't end up being able to get it, I told them I'd be able to buy it by Wednesday night before coming in, but after test driving the car they bait and switched me and gave me the old "buy it now or it's already been sold". The search continues

Hate that crap but you will find the right one.

Watching this thread. I'm one of those that hopes to buy an off lease in a little over a year. Goal would be 19GT1 or 18GT2
