I am getting my radio replaced this Friday and hopefully this update is included.
New Stinger owner here. May I ask why so many people are having their radios replaced?

This fader setting permanence issue with the HK audio system - doesn't appear to affect or concern all owners.New Stinger owner here. May I ask why so many people are having their radios replaced?
Here is what my system info page looks like. Not sure how to tell if it’s version 12.5

I can receive messages and have the system read me text messages. I don’t believe I can respond. This is only connected through Bluetooth on iOS.
Yes. That's why I and many others are hoping that Kia is going to split these out, and soon. I can understand paying for the third party maps if and when somebody wants to update those, but they can at least provide downloadable software updates to their car's multimedia/head units so we can obtain bug fixes and feature updates like this.Ok so to clarify, Map 12.5 doesn’t add Bluetooth messaging, it’s the system update that is also bundled with 12.5 that adds it.
Glad to see they fixed the web link so it correctly points to the KIA update instead of going to Hyundai. It looks like they've made some significant improvements this time around - makes me wish I had waited.
Didn't see anything in their PDF about adding SMS messaging, but if that is now functioning outside of Carplay/AA I'm going to make some new inquiries about when we'll be able to get the system updates without purchasing a new map ...
Hi, not sure that was in response to my question? If so, did messaging work when actually connected to your android phone?I got 12.5 and after the install, I got a screen message regarding turning on messaging. Have no idea what I was supposed to do. I have Android.
I had Bluetooth connected but didn't receive a text to my screen. Like I said, I got a screen message to set up messaging once the update was done, but don't know what to set up.Hi, not sure that was in response to my question? Thanks.I had Bluetooth connected but didn't receive a text to my screen. Like I said, I got a screen message to set up messaging once the update was done, but don't know what to set up.
You should have a notification on your phone that you can tap to allow access for messaging.I got 12.5 and after the install, I got a screen message regarding turning on messaging. Have no idea what I was supposed to do. I have Android.
I thought we were talking about bluetooth messaging? Sure, music works okay (quality is sub-par - much like the quality of SiriusXM) using bluetooth, but until bluetooth messaging actually works in the Stinger, why not just use Apple Carplay or Android Auto? Messaging works flawlessly with these "plugged in" options. I would also be interested to know how many Stinger drivers actually drive with their phones in their pocket? I suppose in the end, this is just a 1st world problem.I personally don't want to pull my phone out of my pocket and plug it in to listen to my music each time I get in the car. What is the point of having the advancement of push-button start (where you leave your keys in your pocket to enter and start your car) when you still need to extract a phone, and fiddle with plugging it in to use CarPlay. Unless I'm on a trip I don't see that it warrants it. Just my take, but, I'm really happy to see the text over Bluetooth capability.
Why the perpetual spinning of the bluetooth conversation? I've said it before - it is time to graduate from Bluetooth to Apple Carplay or Andoid Auto. IMO - It's just a better all around experience.
