Tork Backend Flash

I haven't seen any through-the-ALDL flashing for the 3.3T yet.. does anyone have a link for that? Everything I've seen so far is a bench flash (Magic Motorsports, etc.). Things like BitBox seem to be able to unlock the flash protection bit to allow writes through the OBD port, but the ECU must be opened and probed to do that.

Assuming we can get the aftermarket interested enough, I think we'll eventually have something similar to what HPTuners does for some of the modern Chrysler and GM PCMs.. send it off to them, they unlock it and ship it back, then you tune on your own with your laptop after that. That's my hope for these cars.

Obd encryption will be a long way away. Standalone ecu you can map out different "maps" and assign them to the driver modes.

Not sure why you say difficult? This is actually fairly easy and has been done on plenty of platforms that want to push things to way past the boundaries.

I didn't say difficult - I said they are making it too complicated when there is another potential option that is more suitable for those of us that are considering flashing our ECU. And such would be worth the wait, IMO.

All depends on what you want with your build.

That's what I mean by the tim his stage 2 comes out the harness should be ready
As in harness for the Motec or harness for flashing?
Either way Dabears is onto his 3rd tune in 3 months going Standalone!

Sure - if the wait isn't measured in years. I don't want to wait 3-4 years down the road before doing anything. I'll do jb4 now, then if something better comes along, consider switching.

Yes. APM didnt work out and now the largest KDM tuner in the NA market has done the stage 1 and I will be doing the Stage 2 Tune soon.

Who’s the largest in NA, lap3? Or are you not saying names on purpose?

I'm in the same boat. I've been using JB4 for a few months now and I think it's great for what it is; but, I would prefer to flash the ECU instead.

Lap3 is a Korean company.
I know that, but he said in the “NA market” not where they are from.
AlphaSpeed
Interesting. I’ve only heard their name mentioned a couple times and haven’t seen them post anything on our this KDM forum. Wonder why they’ve basically ignored the Stinger if they are the biggest in NA. At least lap3 has teased us with ECU/TCU tunes and big turbo kits for our Stingers, but just have to hope AlphaSpeed will actually produce something for our markets instead of just dragging everyone along.

@Thorne is going to do at home bitbox tunes with Tork.

Their "TCU tune" only increases the RPM limit, nothing else. No real TCU tune is out yet, unfortunately.

AlphaSpeed has a canned tune for the Stinger. You just need to send in your ECU like you would with Tork. At first glance it doesn't look to be the most aggressive tune either but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. What I'm curious about is if they're going to offer remote tuning services for the Stinger like they do for a lot of KDM cars. In theory that means you could go to any AlphaSpeed-partnered shop and set up a time to get your car remote dyno-tuned.

Yes they will be. A special harness is being shipped out to all the Alphaspeed dealers. I was just the first to get it so BTR can do the remote tuning. Big numbers coming on Thursday!
