This is So Dumb

Just shut the car off and lock it. Idling for no reason is just a bad habit you need break. I know this from personal experience. It's bad for the car, and a waste of gas.

I needed this functionality as well because we have a dog and in 100 degree Georgia weather even leaving her in the car without AC even for a couple minutes would be unthinkable. I bought and installed remote start for this but before I had remote start the only work around was to shut the driver's door go in through another door and lock all the doors then all the doors will lock with the engine running and you could shut that passenger door. You run into another problem trying to get back in because remote unlock or the door handle push button both won't work so to get back in the you would have to either use the metal key to manually unlock the door, or we found out the trunk will still open if you have your keyfob on you, so you can crawl in through the trunk and through to the cabin and open the door. Luckily I have a small child that found it fun crawling through the cargo area. I have remote start now so problem solved.

It's a Hyundai thing. My mother's Elantra wouldn't let me walk away with the engine running and lock the doors either. That was the first time I experienced this.
No, it’s common thing, lots of brands if not all these days wouldn’t let you lock your keys in the vehicle. Only Ford does it right with the key pad on their higher trim levels.

The key pads also make Fords the most stolen vehicle make, especially the F150 as owners leave their keys in the vehicles and lock them with the keypads.

Ok, so I found a fix. Club wheel lock, leave the car running put the club on and run into a store.

....................Trunk Monkey works better !!!

The car definitely keeps running and can be driven with the key gone. I took it with me last time I got a car wash. And the driver put it in the tunnel and moved it outside all the while I was watching from inside the waiting area.

I think it's an oversight in the calibration. On all of my K2-generation GM trucks, a remote start doesn't allow the vehicle to be driven away by locking the shifter and the steering column; even the instrument panel and buttons stay dark. Engine doesn't cut out when a door is opened either. Once it has been properly started, the doors could be locked via the remote when the engine still running.

Toyota vehicles have the same logic as KIA, doors can't be locked using the remote while engine is running.

You will be able to do this with our Canbus Control Module that we are almost finished producing.

It should be available for sale within the next 2-3 weeks latest. (Most likely sooner)

The feature is called "Stop & Go" and allows you to leave the vehicle with it running and still be able to use the remote to lock or unlock the doors.

You can read more about this product on our K5 Optima Store website, where the product is sold for other vehicles. (Not for the Stinger yet)

However, it will give you an idea on the product and how it works, and it would be the same exact product for the Stinger.

No you just need to be a little less rude. Not sure why you want it locked nobody's going anywheres with it. Theres probably a good reason for it though.

You clearly were not paying attention to the OP. Hence why you got that response. If you were paying attention that would not have happened.

Why would you want to lock it, because you don't want anyone to get in your car to take anything that could be inside. :cautious:

Why not just turn it off? You’ll conserve fuel and at least your car is still there waiting for you when you come back.

I do not want to turn it off because it is not in closed loop yet. I do not want to continually put the car through a cold start.

The key pads also make Fords the most stolen vehicle make, especially the F150 as owners leave their keys in the vehicles and lock them with the keypads.

Actually the reason why the F-150, Civic, Accord etc get stolen so frequently is because they are the most common cars on the road.

Very cool. So the question that I have now is can your canbus comm tool be used in conjunction with a tuning tool? I used to tune Ford, GM and Mopars. Fors and Mopars do not like multiple canbus tools talking to them at once...

Actually leaving your car running is technically. TECHNICALLY illegal.

The car has a start stop system so I'm sure it was designed to be turned off and on a few times. But if you are just going to consider the negatives of starting the car again, you have to weigh it against the negatives of leaving it idling.
