Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

Oh crap, almost have two stingers under 10. Go Darrin!

Any pink slips for the 2.5?
Not many 2.5t sold so far and don’t think any have hit the track yet. But should run low 14s stock like the K5 w/2.5t. Once Terry gets the JB4 setup for the Stinger I bet it’s into the low 13s very soon.

I would think slightly better than the K5. K5 has issues hooking up at launch because of all that power up front. Interesting to see if awd does better or worse (than rwd) with the 2.5 stinger.

Still, relatively impressive for a 4 cyl. Some decades back I had a 4th gen z28 6spd (1997) with an lt1. 5.7L (350cid) NA, 275hp, 330 lb ft with a curb weight ~#3200. Today such power is possible from an engine less than half the size... [mind blown].

that's a great time for stock, RWD. nice going!

Here are 4 of the latest times from the Tork Motorsports shop car.

Mods:

28 x 10.5 x 18 Slicks and Skinnies
Tork Stage 2 Tune (low boost)
Tork Stage 1 TCU tune (7 psi at launch)
Full catless
Intakes
FMIC
Methanol injection
Exhaust
110 octane fuel
Full interior
NO PIGGY BACK :)

Running on a pair of damaged turbos (compressor wheels beat to hell) and a leaking headgasket that starts to over heat the car if we run more than 19 psi of sustained boost. I also think that the trans has a nicked seal ring on the 1-2 shift accumulator/actuator (2nd gear is always a bit slow). But the consistency... it really good.

Only two more track days left for they year, may just have to go full send and pull the interior if I want that 10 second time slip.

Ooooph! That’s some consistency right there! Oh, and one hell of a jump in standing. Congratulations!

Wow that’s crazy. Must be something wrong with my 2021 rwd GT1. Just did some runs at my local track and the best I got was a 14.1 quarter mile with it just in sport mode only. I have AEM drop ins and Jun BL GT exhaust. Crazy thing is launch control was my slowest time at 14.6 and oddly that run was my best time off the line too. My 60’ was 2.5-2.6 consistently. It was 99 degrees outside. But still 14.6??? I really don’t understand what’s going on. Maybe the Jun BL exhaust sucks? Wish I would’ve gotten some times before I replaced the exhaust. My last run it didn’t even hit 100mph. Seemed like there was no top end power. I even parked letting the car cool in between runs and then turned it off for a little while too.

Have you taken an average of the stock (or very lightly modded) 3.3TT runs? I'm curious if real life and results from formal car testing are close. It would seem we're growing a bit of a useful database to accomplish something rare - accurate, real world estimates.

I ask because it's a fairly common question. Right now our best answer is what the manufacturer says and/or what a few respected car magazines/testers have run. What WE'RE seeing though IMO is much more valuable, especially with all the results from various tracks and conditions.

Well, that was an interesting night :)

Same mods as before but running revised beta Stage 2 TCU tune... new personal best that bumps me to number 2.
Didn't you/Tonkabob once declare that nobody's time slips should be taken as gospel unless they post the slip w/the car, showing the matching reg. numbers?

Not saying you're lying or anything but as we all know, you have quite a reputation for dishonesty and untrustworthiness and I would certainly warn anyone to be wary of the things you claim to be true.

Am I wrong? I looked back at the last few pages and it seems most are still abiding by Tonkabob/Tork's edict by showing their car with the matching registration numbers and drag slip.

Unless you're responding to me saying he's untrustworthy and lies a lot. Then nevermind, because I stand behind that 100%.

To be clear, I'm calling him a liar but not saying he's lying about this.

The attachment was simple meant to signify that often regardless of what @TorkMe says or does someone (usually 1 of a handful of haters) will throw something antagonistic his way in effort of a response.
Regarding the slip picture, I agree it would be nice to have seen one but we don’t always. I’m willing to give Tork the benefit of the doubt on this ONE.
As for the other, I could give a fly’in @#$& about the childlike sandbox mud slinging behaviour that goes on around here. So sorry no comment.

I hear you, but TBH Tork and his minions have caused most of the lying and BS $&1t slinging on this forum. Last I heard John blew up his Stinger with NOS(why no updates for months) and had to wait forever to rebuild it. So to hear them suddenly go to the top of the list is definitely suspect. Shame their bad reputation causes this discussion at all in our car community. Hopefully it’s true and another Stinger close to breaking 10s
