Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

Definitely not anywhere near the top 20 but still a respectable time with only a couple of minor mods.

I was able to get a 12.619 @ 110.99 mph despite a lethargic 2.011 60 foot time. My only performance modifications are the AirScoops snorkels and the drop in AEM panel filter in the stock air box.

This is almost .4 seconds faster and exactly 3 mph faster than when I was completely stock. That is actually an astonishing difference considering the mods only cost about $250 total.

I was also really happy with my .081 reaction time. That is by far the best I have ever done. The left lane was a Nissan GTR. However, he almost crashed so that is the only reason I beat him.

Also I didn’t use any launch control for this. I don’t have the brake snip and I didn’t use the e-brake method. I used auto hold in “drive” and then just mashed the gas from a dig. However, I did use the paddle shifters from the 2nd to 3rd shift and beyond.

There were tons of crashes out there that day so I was concentrating on just not hitting wall. I missed the first shift.

Manually shifting appears to make a significant difference even on stock Stingers.

Overall I am entirely impressed what the Stinger is capable of without any sort of tune at all and with the stock air box, stock tires, and stock exhaust.

I could have gone much faster if the track conditions had allowed me to launch properly. I have gone below 2.0 for 60 foot times before when the surface wasn’t so dicey. That would have made a significant difference in my times if I had a better launch. My goal for the day was 12.6X at 111 mph so I was satisfied with the result and went home after only one run.

What was your pre-mods DA? Cooler weather probably played a big role in getting that time down.

insane,, work on that 60 foot and this thing will hit 12.3 12.4 easy

I thought DA would make the biggest difference but that actually doesn’t appear to be the case. My DA was about 1,000 which is what I saw when I was running 13s before.

Also I have seen as low as -700 DA and still was slower than I was on Saturday. I have seen a significant difference since the day I installed the snorkels and I really didn’t change much after that until this weekend.

I think the snorkels and filter got me most of the way to where I am. However, the manually shifting seemed to make a huge difference this weekend. My launch was slow and my times weren’t that fast until the 1/8 of a mile.

After the 1/8 of a mile the car just starting pulling like it never had before. I couldn’t feel the difference(butt dyno) but the numbers don’t lie. Only additional horsepower could add 3 mph to an otherwise normal stock run.

I was told that the boost cuts out right around 6,000 if you don’t manually shift. From my experience that absolutely seems to be the case. Shifting below 6,000 seemed to stay on the boost more and definitely added horsepower to my total run.

Wow! That is fast. I wonder if the better flow rate of the Mishimoto Intercooler would help you a bit? It sounds like you are controlling knock and temperature well enough. Flow rate is the only thing I could think of that would make you faster.

Crazy that you can put all that power down with all season tires and us RWD guys have to resort to all kinds of crazy tires and detuning just to attempt put the power down.

Changing the wheels and the tires also will help. Rotors too.

I wont be changing the rotors just yet. I just got the CQUENCE rotors but they're still heavy. I'm going to go girodisc or neotech rotors for 2-piece lightweight.

Nice times, especially the 60 foot. Brake snipped?

Lap3 was able to unlock boost with Factory Launch control so with the ECU tune, it builds boost. No need to wait for beast mode or brake snip.

Yeah one piece is pretty useless as far as performance is concerned. Need two piece rotors.

I would love to see more Lap 3 ECU tune 1/4 miles. The better launch control , throttle handling, timming, and torque management is what is really needed in this beast to wake it up.
It’s been crappy weather here lately so I haven’t done anymore dragys but, but tracks here will be open March 6th! I’ll be down at Cecil.

First trip to the track last night was fun. Cant wait to do some more mods and get the times down more. Only shooting for high 11's ultimately.

2018 GT2 AWD

Mods:
AEM Intakes and MBRP Catback. Stock tires at stock pressure. No weight reduction. Factory launch control

Calculated DA ~ 430'

Run:
60' - 2.009
330 - 5.490
1/8 - 8.339 @ 86.27
1000 - 10.806
1/4 - 12.888 @ 108.50

@MacGyver LOL, that's funny! "only high 11's" I promise you once you hit that you'll say, eh, mid 11's will be better! Then after you hit that, eh, low 11's would be better. It's addictive, you won't be able to stop! :)

That is a really solid run for a stock tune AWD GT2. What car was in the left lane?
