Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

Agreed. Cant wait until winter season as I'm sure we will have low 11sec Stingers once those DA's drop.

Just have to say it again, this Stinger is incredible. Supercar numbers in a 4000lb luxury GT is simply amazing! And we really havent even scratched the surface of what she's capable of.:D

Luxury is pushing it, but I get where you're coming from. Thankfully, they are WAY discounted these days so you do get a lot of car for the money.

Best,

Best,
Yes its not as luxurious as a $80k+ S7 but its very close, even my friend says that and he has a 2018 S7 that looks almost the same as mine inside.
S7 interior.webp GT2 interior.webp
Its basically 90% the same car at half the price and since its a true GT Kia compares it to the BMW 640i GT & Porsche Panamera, both luxury GTs. Its simply the Kia name and old reputation that makes people question the "luxury" aspect. But we are quickly changing that image and people still mistake my Stinger for a Maserati & Tesla.:D

And they have almost always been discounting them just to get them on the roads for people to see. I got my GT2 way back in Feb 2018 for about $9k off after rebates $ negotiating. $41k is unheard of for a car that basically competes with S7's, 640i's & Panamera's and is surely a lot of car for the money even back then.;)

If they could just make the drivetrain a bit more competitive in that segment, people would be mobbing the dealers to get one. Agree that it looks a LOT like an A7/S7/RS-7. That's what attracted me to this forum in the first place. Rooting for breakthroughs in power.

Best,

I think this one would be a wire cut either way, we don't have access to ECU connectors for the car. If we did we could route all JB4 connections through the ECU connectors which would be clean.

That would be awesome. FYI, Unichip actually does that with their piggyback for the Stinger.

Best,
I’m not sure what you mean by “make the drivetrain more competitive”? Torque limits of 740ftlbs and 1.6sec 60ft on stock tires with a smooth but super quick shifting(almost pdk quick) 8speed auto seems pretty competitive to me.

And almost doubling its 365hp to 700hp so far is pretty good on stock internals, but admit they haven’t even scratched the surface of our potential yet. I bet people will have 1000hp daily driver Stinger sooner than later and glad I was fortunate enough to have one of the first Korean built “launch” versions before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon.;)

Who is getting 700hp out of one of these? I'd be interested in reading about that. When I said "make it competitive," I mean for the average Joe who can't or won't mod their car (which doesn't apply to anyone here...heh).

We really struggled with the RWD. Obviously the higher launch rpm worked but even with the M&H race master tires and doing killer burnout it still slip through at least 2 gears. Not a lot of time to play with boost launch to much. Hopefully we can get a couple more drag days this month before I go back to Afghanistan. I know there’s more to this car. We’ve seen 125mph before and with the right launch hopefully we’ll see a lower number.

Awesome run and great trap speed.
Hope you can make it to more drag days.

RWD is back, very nice run! what wheels and tires?

The wheels are actually GTR front wheels cause they’re just laying around the shop with M&H race master 275/45r18.

Man, the last few days have seen dramatic changes to this list. Exciting days for the Stinger.

Are your sig mods up to date plus hybrid turbo bms brake snip, and ecu tune?
New rocord every day!

If we can sort out the BOV problem alone it will pickup another 3-4mph I'm sure. I'll email you a couple ideas.
Why would it hold a nice 24 PSI to 6000 RPM in 3rd while 4th gear gets all whacked? Wouldn't the BOV fail in other gears as well?

It's a new issue that cropped now now that he can launch with traction.

I think it's either the BOV blowing open post shift or the wastegates blowing open due to some sort of flash mapping issue. Transitions during shifts generally cause BOV issues so it's my primary suspect. The higher boost levels might just be overwhelming the factory BOV control so I suggested they change it over to a manifold reference next.
