Stinger build page is active

I doubt that, they're not exactly flying off the lots. I could be wrong, but that would likely be shortsighted. Most people I talk to don't even know that Genesis is a thing.
I agree. I don't believe the G70 will be 5k more than the stinger either. Right now the info is they are going to start at 33k US when they go on sale in Korea. That may not be an apple to apple comparison of what they will cost in the US, but that is $1,100 more than the base stinger and seems more in line with what I was thinking. (I was assuming 2k more than the stinger)

I have to agree as well.

The G80 and G90 sell below invoice as a matter of course now.

The G90 is slated to be redesigned early in its life cycle but that is still not until 2021. Genesis gave no timeframe for the G80 redesign (they will be busy launching two new SUV's during that same time frame).

Just arbitrarily raising the prices (enough to make the model gap bigger) seems like a recipe for a sales disaster.

That may be true but I was on vacation in Orlando this past week and every other car is a Genesis. Seriously they are everywhere. Now I hardly saw any while I was in New York for a few days and I didn't really take notice earlier in the year in Houston, Texas but I think I would have remembered seeing them if I saw a lot. But for goodness sake they're everywhere in Florida. So somebody is buying them.

They move product, but the results are not what anyone would call good. The folks near Disneyland seem more of an anomaly than a trend indicator.

One of the reasons for the increase in price for the G80 will be the exclusion of the cheapest model using the 3.8 liter V6. At least those are the plans. The G80 will be the only Genesis to carry on with the naturally aspirated V6 if they continue moving forward with it. The G70 and G90 will use the 2.0T and 3.3T - and somewhat reluctantly, the 5.0 liter V8 - which they have not made any firm decisions on yet. But they do see very little need for the 3.8. So if things go as planned, and perhaps the plans will stretch on for a little longer than anticipated, the cheapest G80 will be a few thousand more leaving more wiggle room for the G70. It's probably more accurate to say the G70 will cost "a few thousand more" than the Stinger than $5,000 - but don't be surprised if that's exactly what happens.

Few thousand more for a smaller faster more luxurious car with a great warranty and valet service package may be worth the wait. I really like the look of the g70 it doesn't have the sporty look of the stinger but more like a sleeper car that could suprise a few people.

Oh, it'll definitely surprise people. Are you a member of the Genesis Owners Group?

No just here. I didn't know it existed till yesterday so thanks for linking me to it. I waited long enough for the stinger so I wasn't thinking about a g70 because I wanted a new car sooner than later. Almost bought a new truck a few weeks ago and instead went and saw the stinger in person that day. Getting the itch to buy something soon so kinda dissapointed in the color option I wanted for over a year is not available at launch.

There is a few genesis on the road here in Tampa but not huge. If you jump on car gurus. There is alot already traded in with low mileage. Not sure why so many people are trading it in so fast for another car. Makes me a bit nervous to see so many g80s back on the lot. Especially that they only came out recently.

I see them here in mass every now and then. The cars your seeing could be lease cars so that could explain seeing so many back for sale. I think kia and genesis are trying to compete with the higher end car companies and are putting out some good cars but some people want the bmw name instead.

I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan - which is the same car as the G80. It's great. Reliable. Perfect, really. I have no complaints at all. And the people over at the Genesis community feel the same way. It probably IS lease turn-ins that you're seeing. I'm going to guess that anyone who trades in their G80 early did so because they couldn't get over their rich friends bothering them about buying a "Hyundai"...

That many returns within a year? Not saying it's not a good car but what made those people not stay with it is my question. If it was brand snob I doubt they would of purchased one in the first place.

I think you're right, almost all of those are lease returns. 2 simple reasons.
1) that is how the majority of them were sold.
2) my guess is that if someone took out a loan on it, you are pretty upside down.
MSRP of the 6 cylinder was anywhere from 38, to almost 50. Just looked on KBB average value is now anywhere from 22 to 25. (And that is private sale value not trade in value)

I wish Kia and Hyundai would pull their head out and just price there cars at the real value instead giving out huge rebates.

I just traded in my 04 Nissan Titan that I paid 28.5 for and got 10k. I know trucks are different but I would kill for that on my Kia. I paid 27 for my 13 optima sx and was offered 12 for it as a trade in.

So apparently with the GT2 at least as of now on the configurator you basically do not get to choose your color combo. None of them have more than one interior option. I have to assume that is incorrect, there is no way a company could be that shortsighted.

For the most part this new info has basically sealed the deal that Im not buying a 2018 model. Question is just going to be whether or not the G70 looks better to me in person than it does in photos and I might consider it. Otherwise BMW 5 series may be my next car. I'm a huge Stinger proponent, showing everyone I hang out with the reviews etc.. but I cant justify buying the top of the line GT2 and:
a) Paying nearly 53k
b) Not having a 360 degree camera
c) Not having wireless charging
d) Not having LSD on the AWD
e) No suede headliner
f) Possibly no red exterior-red interior combo available (1st choice), possibly no red exterior-grey interior combo (2nd choice). I'd have to go with my 3rd choice which is blue with grey interior.

I had been trying to convince my wife, close friend, and family that the Stinger is a legitimate car to get in lieu of a BMW 5 series or Audi S7 but none of this is really helping. If anything it is convincing me they are right. If you want to compete with those brands then you have to have the tech features and ok sacrifice a little bit of interior quality but dont start ditching what little interior niceties you had like the headliner.

If the rep I dealt with last week is right (I don't have great faith that he is, based on some of the other stupid things he said), the first shipment of GT2s to the "western division" not only won't let you choose your color combo; they also only come in ONE combo, red on black--and reportedly only three were shipped to the entire division. I'm hoping to find time later today to call corporate customer assistance and check on that, but have wall-to-wall appointments, so maybe tomorrow, if one of you doesn't beat me to it and post it here.

I totally get that the initial shipments to the US will be limited quantity, and will be optioned as they were built (obviously can't change that), but that doesn't explain why the configurator wouldn't offer a broader range of color combinations. At some point dealers will be able to place orders, and those orders will take however long it takes for the pipeline to clear. Explaining that the configurator only represents what was built for the initial shipments doesn't hold water.

I completely agree 100% and can't justify the 2018 models at this point in time either! Will be waiting to see how the G70 plays out as well.

That's not good for Kia if all us die-hard Stinger fans are already jumping ship. I might have to just bite the bullet and get a blue one this year just to make sure they bother making a 2019 model for you guys to get your color choices :P

Haha my plan was to get that blue one as well! But thanks, your early adoptiveness is very much appreciated :D I just REALLY wish they didn't omit those features, you can say I like my toys too much!

I can't believe Kia combo Silver/Red on their build site. What kind of taste are you, Korean? No wonder it looks like Kimchi.

Missing these features are a big lost for buyers:
b) Not having a 360 degree camera
c) Not having wireless charging
d) No heat seat on the back
e) No suede headline
f) No carbon fiber/glossy wood, just aluminum

Look like I have to wait for Stinger Specical Editon on this spring before I can take a test drive.

If they're truly not going to offer any more choices on features or colors, then they may lose out on a decent amount of sales. They needed to just offer as many choices as they had available for the vehicle.

They're going to miss the boat on catching some sales from the hype. Now that they've essentially dampened the hype with de-contenting and lack of choice, some people will just come down to earth, take a "wait and see" approach, and perhaps discover something in the meantime that is a better deal.
