Stinger Brake Pads Replacement

Thoughts of stop tech pads?

I use the 105 compound on my car - daily driver - (28k kms so far on these pads) - I can only comment regarding street commuting performance and they are perfectly fine for my street driving

I am running the generic 1001 pads (Centric PN 105.10010) [without the weights]
Similar to OEM performance, with no pulsations.

Can't beat the price

No

If I had used them, I would have been able to comment on the friction material.
And yet somehow you feel obligated to make a recommendation on the PowerStop brakes without any personal experience or knowledge of the actual pads... Interesting.

I think it has more to do with a company getting their shit together and making a simple brake backing plate at the right dimensions that every other manufacture somehow doesn't mess up. You know, learn from other's experience.

I mean I haven't had the issues other have had with the OEM pads but I'll be damned if I'd recommend those OEM pads to anyone just looking at the track record (and the absurd price).

True.

Correct..kinda.
I do not feel obligated in any way.

It's based off their pathetic reply to my questions, which I had to follow up with a call, in order to get the answer to the question asked. (Post #58 in this thread)

Powerstop is the sole manufacture creating the "clunk" issue!

Just sharing the data I have accumulated - I would avoid this MFG since there are so many others readily available.

Again, true. Just an observation on my side.

Maybe if I get around to it, I'll post my conversation with RockAuto over this issue... The preview is that RockAuto told me that the PowerStop brake kit Z26-6012 (pads, pins, plates, clips, etc. as pictured below) is not a kit.

Certainly looks like a kit.

I almost bought this exact "kit" but they were out of stock.

I went with the GiroDisc Magic pads 1001

Same day - I installed Centric pads all around. (from Rock Auto)
It has been about 3000 kms so far - and everything is perfectly smooth, and silent, and similar to OEM friction performance for commuting. Pehaps these Centric pads would be bad at a racetrack - but this is my commuting car :)

Centric 105.10010 - front (generic -with no extra weights)
Centric 105.60410 - rear (vehicle specific - with weights) Does anyone know of a Centric pad part number (generic) that fits the rear?

Figured I’d let everyone know that centric has replaced these rear pads with a new part that doesn’t have weights. When I called to order from khartunerz they didn’t know the part number and said it doesn’t have weights which I thought was weird. Ended up calling centric customer support and they confirmed part 105.60410 has been replaced with part 105.21440.

Does anyone have any issues with the retaining spring rattling around? When I changed out my pads my retaining springs on both fronts rattle throughout a drive.

I have only seen people install them reversed and have that issue.

Are Powerstop branded pads the only ones that exhibit this "clunk" due to poor undersized fitment?

My generic (non stinger specific) Centric pads pit perfectly, with no clunk (PN 105-10010)

rock auto has them listed as fitting the following - very common pad size (1001)
Nope,

The dynamic friction pads DFC-1311-2145-01 do the same thing. Had them on the car for 3 days and then put the OEM's back on. Ordered EBC Yellow's for the front and rear.

I definitely prefer a Semi-metallic compound, and prioritize stopping performance over noise and dust. I will report back once the EBC Yellow's are on

Did you use new clips or your old ones?

I just ordered those to replace my Girodisc Magic pads that are driving me nuts with the squealing.
