Snowshoes

Thanks Vince, that could have saved me some major frustration, but...as I posted above, PMC advised me of this and I switched to the FC04's. PMC was awesome and gave the same price!!

I changed over to my winter set tonight.

I was planning on waiting until at least the end of October, but there's a heavy snowfall happening in Calgary (most unusual for the beginning of October), and the 14 day forecast shows a continuation of well below seasonal temperatures. The PS4s aren't much of a tire at close to freezing temps anyway, so I decided not to try and hold out.

By the way, I decided this was a good opportunity to check the weights - for the curious the OEM 19" wheels and PS4 tires weigh about 55 lbs front and 59 lbs rear. The 18" Fast FC04 wheels and XIce3 tire combination I'm using for the winter set are about 43 lbs each - considerably lighter!
I'm running the same combo now, and I'm happy about the big change in weight from both the original wheels and the ones I first ordered on PMC. There is 11 lbs per rim difference from some wheels compared to the FC04 which weighed 19lbs each. Pretty big weight savings and I'm learning on here that that makes an even bigger difference on wheels than it does elsewhere in the car.

In S.Ont I'd usually switch Dec 1, give or take depending on the 10 day forecast. That was on my Elantra going from all season's to winter. I want these Summer's off before that, so as soon as the TPMS's arrive, I'll make it happen so they are ready. If the temp drops before they get here, my truck becomes my daily driver, I don't want to use the summers below 0C.

Has anyone tried the FC04 with the +40 offset?

I'm not really into pushing the tires any outwards and have them throw rocks at the fenders and doors.
30 offset works as I’ve been told from the tire store. Why the need to go with 40 offset?

If your Stinger is running on 19" wheels, picking the FC04 in 18" with the +40 offset will get you the exact same offset in the back, and the front wheels 6mm inwards, since stock offset for OEM front wheels is +34 mm. Since stock wheels are pretty flush to the fenders, I would prefere having them more on the inside and get less rocks and dirt on the fenders and doors. But the wheels being pushed inwards means less space for the Brembo's... so I'm wondering if it fits.

Picking the FC04 with the +30 offset means your front tires will sit 4 mm outwards (not that much), but it also means the back tire are gonna sit a full cm outwards, which puts them pretty close to the fender.

So that's Why I'm asking if anyone as tried those with the +40offset.

Just do what im doing and grab a set of oem splash guards. Im only going to put them on during the winter months along with my winter wheels.

Just an update on the FC04/XIce3 combination. Drove through some miserable conditions the morning after a major snowfall, with freezing temperatures, and again as the temperature rose and things started melting. Some low speed driving in the early morning when conditions were at their worst, and highway travel later in the day. Road conditions varied between fresh and packed snow, glare ice, salt melted wet surface, and bare and dry - loving these tires!

Nice and quiet, handle well, and superb traction for both acceleration and braking - effortlessly drove around some people that were obviously struggling with traction, and never felt a tire slip or spin. TPMS working flawlessly as well, no user intervention required. Kudos to Costco for their balancing job - smooth as silk!

Putting mine on today - I think this is the last week of highs in the 70's (20-23c), and since I leave for work when it's pitch black, I'm driving in the 30-40's (0-4c) in the morning. Xi3's on 18" Sport Tuning T23's. I'll be slightly annoyed if we get unseasonably warm in a few weeks. Lol.

They're on the cheap side for wheels, lots of balancing needed, so we'll see how smooth they drive. Lol.

What offset you go with on the FC04s?

Snow shoes on!

Are your rims squared for winter? Are your summer Michelins and OEM rims stored away?

Yep, squared 18x8 225/45R18. Old tires are sitting in the garage deflated down to 10PSI, and should be fine.

Quick question: what cold pressure are you running with on your squared 225/45R18's?

Thanks Steveco.
The reason I was asking was also as a result of the information I found on the tirerack website where they suggest running pressure anywhere from 2 to 5 psi higher than summer.
I was wondering what members of this forum think about this logic?
Thx

Guys, just to confirm...if I don’t get TPMS for my winter set up the only issue is the light remaining on?

Big O told me to have the dealer "calibrate" the TPMS to the computer or somesuch. My TPMS LCD reading was c. four to five pounds low again this afternoon. I assume so, anyway, because they filled my warm tires yesterday to 40 front, 38 rear, and the LCD reading was 35 and 34 respectively today.

Anyone have a pic from the rear with 225 R18's on? On the fench about getting the splash guards for the messy stuff.

I drove through some mud yesterday, low-ish speeds, but all the mud was contained within the wheel well on all 4 wheels (aside from some coming through the air duct in the front), it should be fine.
