Service #3 (Canada)

Yes they said to use there oil only for the warranty, and if I would bring my oil there what tells me they won't keep it for themselves and put the bulk oil. I don't trust dealer's from my experience in the pass. I appreciate the info guys ;) and skstinger very true about the same grade of oil.

So just use the dealers oil. Save your money, since I hate to say you wasted $1000 on free oil changes. Actually any opportunity to get your money back? Even if pro-rated.

No chance to get it back, they leech me on this oil change for 1k for life.

Have you used it yet? Read the fine print. You maybe able to get a prorated amount back within a certain time frame?

You haven’t Received $1000 in value, you are at least allotted a percentage return on that payment. I would sue if they failed to create some sort of deal. I am at all awe with how many folks on here are allowing the dealers to take money out of their pocket while providing nothing bs services. Brake inspections, mystical GDI services, battery inspections, Vaseline in seals, all sorts of services not getting done that you’re getting paperwork that says it is. All out of fear that your warranty might be voided if you don’t bow down to the mighty vendor.

@NSStinger did you go to Halifax for the service ?
have you had the wiring recall done ?

My 2018 Stinger with 26,500kms is heading in for it's #3 service next week which according to the dealer rings in at $400 CAD. I have to admit that cost caught me off guard for a car with so few kms and under the KIA nameplate. I don't have an issue paying to get it serviced but still seemed high to me for what amounts to a brake service, oil change and a visual inspection.

Can anyone else in Canada who has received this service let me know what you paid for it? I just want to ensure my dealer isn't gouging more than normal. On my 2012 Acura TL I think I paid close to that once for regularly scheduled service over a 5-6 year ownership. That car also only needed to go in every 12 months versus the Stinger every 6 months which is a royal pain in the ass.

Oh funny story the dealer doesn't have a shuttle service due to Covid and is only offering a taxi ride away from the dealer but not one back...what a joke.
I'm curious as to what dealer you're taking your Stinger to? I'm in Toronto and live fairly close to Toronto Kia. They've always offered a free ride home and back in an Uber or they will give me two subway tokens if you're going further than the distance they will pay for. Not sure the radius however. Most dealer service packages you are paying a lot of money for "inspections" I would find a shop you trust and have them inspect the items in the service package. My shop charges about $50 bucks to inspect the driveline and brakes. If they find anything, I take to the dealer and have in repaired under warranty. My Kia Dealer however is cheaper than anywhere I could find for a synthetic oil change. I had an Optima Turbo prior to the Stinger for 10 years. This is how I managed to keep costs down and ensure the warranty conditions were met. So long as a Class A mechanic did the inspection, you're covered.

What was your purchase price though? Dealers have a lot of margin built into cars like the Stinger. If you paid the MSRP sticker price (or above) then you paid for all of that. Hence how they were able to make that deal. I'd rather have cash in my pocket then negotiate add-ons like this that require me to use their service department. That's personal preference though.
Purchase price was far below MSRP. Too much detail to go into but I have a dealers license, a trade in, and very good negotiator. I got an exceptional deal

Quick jack is the key if you have a garage. Dealer service for the most part is less than what you’d get from other shops. Most Kia dealers have only one guy with a ticket, couple 20 year old oil techs and a couple kids literally with a scrub brush on a pole and bucket of water and soap to wash it after. You think I’m kidding. Ask for a Kia service shop walk through. Last time I was there for “1st service” they had one kid changing oil and were 2 hours behind. I asked for my car not to be washed twice and still had to tell the kid to put the stick broom away and the manager apologized. This is what I’ve come to expect from Kia this far. Good product, good people, lack of investment on the back end
ditto on Kia's service dept. I have free service for life with my initial purchase contract. last time in for free oil change they said I required a $400 service and a new $450 tire because it had a nail too close to sidewall. I told the service guy which I had not seen before that I have free service to which he said this was not covered. I asked what it was for. they said cabin filter which was very hard to get at, full brake inspection including draining all the brake fluid and refill with new. I told him both these items I have never done in 60 years of driving. He said it has to be done. I asked if it was a warranty issue and he said yes. I asked the girl also in service beside him and she said no. I asked to see the nail in tire. he said I could not go in shop. The girl took me there. the nail was 3" in from the side wall and only needed a plug. At this point I went to the manager. This guy who must think he is on commission wanted me to pay over $1000 for bogus work. Now 'he' does not work there anymore

All you have to do is follow the manual for what service needs to be done to maintain warranty. Never follow the Service Intervals laid out by the Service Centre otherwise you will be wasting your money.

In my experience, they are the same service intervals.

Lol he was basically trolling you if he said the cabin filter is hard to get at. It's easily accessed in the glove box and takes about 2 mins to change.

When i bought mine I took 2.99% to get $4k of up front. Key is I need to pay it down faster to reap the benefits which I am doing.

In my experience, they are the same service intervals.
If I remember the Stinger manual states 10000km, my dealer says 6000km. Also what they say to do is nothing compared to the manual. They push alot of preventative stuff that is not required, but make them money.

If the cabin filter is "hard to get to", then an oil change must be on the level of a full engine rebuild.

You should have told him if you think the cabin filter is hard to do, I don't want you touching my car!
