I remember way back when I had a Franklin computer and you could get a ROM to swap out for $39 to make the computer compatible with all Apple software, it made it a virtual Apple II :)

By the way, all players insert the pause between tracks. You have to rip the music in a specific manner to prevent that if it bothers you. Google it.
All players in cars or ALL players that exist? Because my computer playing with Windows Media Player does not play ripped albums with seamless tracks with inserted pauses. I never had to deal with this until I started playing the very same files, taken to a USB, in my Stinger. And how do I "rip the music in a specific manner"? Never heard of anything but one rip.

Last post in that thread: "As has been stated already it is related to the format. For some reason MP3 has this issue. Windows Media Player, for instance, won't play seamlessly with MP3 files but will with WMA and WAV. Perhaps you should try using WMA format to see if it makes any difference. But you would need to rip into WMA, not convert from MP3 because you will transfer the gap to the new format too."

The apparent fix is to rip in WMA format. But that obviously isn't going to work for me. Most of my ripped files are already WMA. The rest are MP3, but as far as I know none of my seamless track albums are MP3.

On a hunch, I checked More Options under Rip Settings: and I already have "Burn CD without gaps" selected. So that's not a possibility.

Oddly, my Alan Parson Project CDs play on my computer with inserted gaps! Mike Oldfield CD has no gaps (Songs of Distant Earth); either CD, ripped, or from the USB. I guess the files on the Parsons Project and Oldfield CDs are different? Anyway, once they are ripped to the Windows library, and copied to the USB, they are seamless: until I play them in my Stinger. Grrr.

Yes, no seamless tracking: moments of silence inserted between each track. Listening to Mood Blues "Every Good Boy Deserves Favor" is an egregious example I can hardly put up with. If the solution is to pick a ripping format that the Stinger's player interfaces with, without inserting breaks, that is no solution: too many pieces of music that I have are not from CDs in the first place; and I have already spent too much time over the years ripping CDs: the mere thought of doing it all over again makes me go bike riding, in the snow, into head on traffic. :P;)

I've actually never heard the band, but thanks to Mike Meyers every time they are mentioned I hear it in 'air quotes' ... :p

And I've never watched that guy in anything. I've seen his face all over the place; sort of like Jennifer Aniston. But at least in her case I have seen Bruce Almighty (hate to admit that, actually, not because of her, because of Jim Carrey, who I can't stand).

(eta: if you listen to the radio at all, surely you've heard "Eye in the Sky" and probably several other Alan Parsons Project "hit singles")

Hmm, sounds like you've got it in for Canadian comedians ... ;)

To be honest, I'm sure I've actually heard the ...

... on the radio many times, just couldn't identify them with any particular song (like many other bands). :)

Ah, the good ol' days, eh Wilzer. My Apple II's had 5 digit serial numbers.

One of my favorite albums ever.

I recall having similar issues way back when but I don't even recall if I ever resolved them. Tearing up the Fall of the House of Usher into tracks is sinful. If you have a method to rip the entire disc as a single file, you should do well. That functionality should be in a decent CD ripper??

Too late in any case. I am NOT going to rerip everything. Grrr. I haven't seen the tool that lets you rip an album as a single file.

Question, can you make and use playlist in stinger media player??

I am leery of downloads. How can Windows NOT have this ability to save all tracks as a single file?

Not that I know of.

My original question remains: how can we play albums that have seamless tracking without the Stinger's media player inserting the pauses/gaps between tracks?

Have you tried NERO? https://www.amazon.com/Nero-AMER-12...words=nero+express&qid=1547951390&sr=8-3&th=1

There are many audio editing programs (apps) out there and some open source that will allow you to insert audio tracks and then trim the spaces to make it continous, some even will have built in transitions like cross fade. If I get a few minutes, will make a demo-- maybe in a few days. You like ABBA, right :)

Some are better than others, but Microsoft generally doesn't provide 'best of breed' applications along with the Windows operating system. Their limited functionality is sufficient for the majority of users, but if you want to do anything remotely advanced you need to go third party or step up to MS' own paid apps.

You're right to be cautious of downloads, but do your due diligence before diving in and there is a wealth of great programs available - both free/open source and commercial. The days of picking up a shrink wrapped box from the software aisle are pretty much behind us ... ;)

I don't want to edit. I just want to eliminate the spaces between tracks on seamless tracking albums. Nero does not get very good reviews if the average is only three stars; the negative comments are about it being too complex and buggy.
OK, I used Audacity to edit audio tracks I captured from Spotify. Open source: Audacity ® | Free, open source, cross-platform audio software for multi-track recording and editing.
Hmm. How easy/hard is it going to be to get seamless tracking? All I want to do is rip a CD as one file. All that other stuff is meaningless to me.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I would try FreeRip or Audiograbber, but the downloads are not secure.
