3.3TT Rear tire pressure

It's important to keep in mind that the car placard tire pressure is as if the car is always carrying its full payload.

That being said, there is certainly room to reduce pressure in accordance to the actual regular vehicle weight.

Had my Stinger GT a week now, noticed when I bought it that the tire pressure read out on the dash showed 59 psi all the way around.

Thought it was some kind of special tire (low rolling resistance?) but decided to now check it out.

Yikes! Door jamb sticker says it should be 36F/39R, adjustments made. Is this how some cars are being delivered?

It's actually how they all come to the dealer.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Dealers should be fixing this as part of their pre-delivery work. If they're not, one wonders what we're paying them for...

.. and what else they didn't bother checking.

To be fair, I drove a distance to get the car and it was getting late when everything was set to go.

There were a few blue protective films still on the car, but other than that all is good.

So for those of you obviously bothered by this... What did YOU check on pre-delivery?

I made sure I had gas, and that my USB worked, and that my TracFone had paired, and that nobody had attached that stupid front plate frame. That's about it. I was finding pieces of plastic film in the oddest places for over a year (most recent one just last week, heh!:P). My sales rep said, when I told him about the psi above 50: "I didn't know that. It's above my pay grade." :D

Cams, lifters, piston rings, body welds, wiring harness ... the usual.

My tyres read 50psi on delivery, only found a few days later. I was told when I inquired that they leave the factory with 50psi for the boat trip and then a possible wait in a holding yard. They expect to lose a few lbs before purchase. Clearly not.

Been a long time since I purchased an import, good to know!

First overseas car purchased in decades, first car purchased with significantly overinflated tires.

Coincidence? Faulty dealer prep? Norm? Stars aligned? Sith shenanigans?

If you had skipped the wiring harness you could have had time to check the tires.

Incomplete dealer prep.

Low profile wheels need higher pressure to keep from bending wheels on potholes.

Higher pressure in the rear will make the car more twitchy (oversteer)
Lower pressure in the rear will make it more stable on the highway (understeer)

Higher pressure makes the ride harder in general.

It is what it is ...
