Rear sway bar - installation

Who performed the rear sway bar installation on your car?

Since i installed front sway then back i can't be sure. Plus my additional bracing is mid rear and rear.
So my braces could be working for the rear or the rear sway doesn't impact flex. Not sure which.
I think you should take off the extra bracing and see if the creaking stops.

The bracing reduced the creeking. I was thinking of adding the third brace.

The car looks sporty and people expect it to drive that way but it wasn’t designed to be a true sports car. It does well for a long distance cruiser, we just want more from it and with a few tweaks, it gets better.
I can not agree more with you. However, the suspension is not according to the design, power / transmission and braking of this GT model. For me this is the most deficient aspect of the design. So increasing horses necessarily requires optimizing the suspension and perhaps the braking system. It's a never ending story. These are the reasons why I do not want to invest in tuning the ECU. I have concluded thanks to the experience of several partners in the forum in just replacing the downpipes and reaching a nominal power of almost 400 HPs and that's it. I've been there and I've done that with my former 1997 Pontiac Firebird Trans am.

I think they designed this car for empty-nesters, or older folks that are retiring and want to go cruising during their retirement. Y'all know Peter Schreyer is retiring from HK soon, right? This was designed for him, that's the story I'm sticking with. LOL!!

Seriously though, while the car has the looks of a sporty car and is built on the same platform as the G70 and competes at the same price point, it seems they didn't want it to steal that car's thunder so they didn't go all out with it. It has enough in it to be a better car, tuners need to step up and give some more options for those that want to tune it for more. For me, the power is more than enough, I just want it the ride to be more buttoned down in sport mode. I'm still waiting for my rear sway bar to come in to see how it changes the ride. We need some reasonable priced options from Bilstein and others to match up with some springs to make it ride better for those of us that want it to.

LOL !!!....well, I'm 64 years old partially retired (partially retired from a governmental medical institution but I still practice at the private level), and and I love to drive fast safely and where I can do it. So, I need a car very well panted on the ground with enough power that this model produces in sport mode (agree with you), I'm used to handling a car like this. I'll await your objective opinions on the behavior of the suspension with the rear sway bar installed in your car. For now, I'm satisfied with the Eibach's springs, for now, but I think we can improve the suspension even more.....I hope KIA engineers find out about these necessary suspension upgrades diagnosed by the owners of this model.......

I can tell you that since I got the Nitto's, I've been pushing the car harder and while the tires are comfortable for normal use, their limitations are becoming more apparent. That said, the Stinger was designed to be a playful GT car but like we both agree, it needs a bit of suspension change to make it a bit more sporty. I'm hoping Bilstein, Koni, KW or even Ohlins can come up with something for the Stinger.

Had a chance to hit some twisties hard today and have to say the dual sway bars on my AWD are amazing. No other changes needed.
I had a hard time getting myself to drive fast enough to push the car. (The cars capabilities higher than expected and I've run caymen S, evo, wrx, AMG on this piece of road.) It just went through the turns flat and smooth.

I am enjoying this thread I must say!! I have the Eibach springs only at this time, and the car is more then enough!! I realize that the bars are gonna enhance the lateral g- capabilities even more, but I don't want to hear any creaks or rattles by doing the bars install. I have a very quiet Stinger, and want to keep it that way... Has anyone just done the Springs and rear bar?? I have the whole kit by Eibach, but only springs are installed currently.

I installed front sway first and got the creeks. Adding the back later on didnt seem to change anything noise wise. But i also added under car bracing between the 2 bar installs. Rear only should be safe.

I can not agree more with you. Since the suspension has improved substantially since the installation of the Eibach springs I do not consider it necessary to install the sway bars for now.

I've had the front sway on a few weeks and the rear just a few hours. If you don't mind 15-20 % firmer feeling at least on bumpy un even roads then go for it. Comfort feels like sport now. Turn in is much better, turning is flat. Way better all around. I still need to find a mid turn dip to test the rear end wallow.
Stock the rear sway is more of a helper spring than a sway bar. Mine and i suspect all stingers sway bars are locked to the bushing which isolates the sway from the other side making it just an additional spring. Even after removing the bolts the sway is still locked to the bushings.
The drawback is more chasis flex. Maybe this is why the stock sways were locked. I added 2 of the 3 ultra chasis braces and the chasis flex seems back to stock or a bit better than before the sway change.

Sorry for digging this old post, I had read it few more times but never understood till yesterday.

Both front and rear stock bars are locked (I assume yes as you said sways but just confirming)? And aftermarket ones aren't?

I ordered both bars for my AWD Stinger. I am planning to do either

1. Rear on soft setting and front stock
2. Front on soft and rear on hard setting

If I get any creeks for option 2, I would look in to braces (they look pretty pricey) or revert back to option 1.

You should have kept them all either soft or hard and not mixed them up thats why the ride feels hard.

Just the rear sway was locked in the bushing for me. After markets both swing free.
I really like both bars even with the added chasis flex. I had to take my chasis rear mid brace off after adding SSR mid pipe as the exhaust dropped too low and touched the bar. I still have the rear brace on.
Both my bars are set to soft. You can mix the settings to tune for more over or under steer.

If you replied to me, then I haven't installed sways yet. I saw few recommending only rear in soft, front stock or front soft and rear hard. I think, Dochidalgo ended up with same setup.

Tonkabob started with front.

Thank you. I will start with rear soft and front stock if I do decide to install by myself. If I go to a shop then will install both and set to soft.

Set both front & rear sway bars to soft then while you are under there add Whiteline Performance Front & Rear End Links....job done.

Whiteline Rear Adjustable Extra Heavy Duty Sway Bar - Link For Kia Stinger CK 9319924379965 | eBay

I am not sure if I should get these. Thanks though, I would look in to these.

If you decide to add the front bar later the install is ridiculously easy. The rear is ridiculously difficult. LOL.

Lol. I certainly fit that description.

Those pics of Albert Biermann are more to the point, imho (my wife commented that that "older guy" looks just like my age, and it's obvious what demographic the Stinger promo book and brochure is targeting). He's the one who said the rear of the Stinger was designed to be "more playful" than sport focused. It works to keep the car handling, but is focused on a sporty ride that is comfortable and quiet. I certainly find it that way, especially with the Eibach rear sway bar added (on "soft"). Coming down to Albuquerque from Salt Lake city yesterday, I really noticed the buttoned down feel of the rear end on all the dipsy spots on the highways: the rear end stayed with the rest of the car and did not drop and rise vertically on any of those places in the road where the surface sinks and/or pops up.

I have a very quiet car. And just the rear sway bar did not change a thing in that regard. The only noise I detect is the tires. The Nitto Motivo A/S UHP were quieter and softer riding than the Pilot Sports (which I have on now). But most of the road surfaces coming down here are smooth and do not produce undue noise.
1. Rear on soft setting and front stock
That's how I have the car modified. Eibach rear on "soft"; front left alone.

I just took off the rear mid brace and the creaking increased significantly. I added some lube to the hard rubber outer door seals, not the soft rubber seals and that helped quite a bit. When the car flexes the doors move/slide on the door frame. Just pushing in on the top of the window frame I could hear the squeaks.
I added SSR mid recently and this drops the exhaust lower and the rear mid brace no longer fits.

Are you interested in selling the rear mid brace?

I'll let you know. I'm ditching the SSR and with another midpipe the brace may go back on.
