Stopped at red light and some non compos mentis on a Harley with ape hangers comes up behind and tries some stunt and clips my left rear. Gashes the tire side wall and scrapes up the wheel and bends in and separates the bumper from top and the ape hangers scratch up rear hatch glass. Dude has been this route before and is wearing leathers, so as he slides about 30 feet down the asphalt he doesn't get a scratch. Took it to Kia collision center and they repaired the existing rear, replaced the wheel and glass and I replaced both rear tires (had to pay for 2nd tire and part of original) You may be lucky if they have to replace the entire bumper system and bumper since the repair on mine left it with a small indentation that's just preceptable if you look. Of course Progressive insurance gave me a crappy rental. They did pay for an alignment, thankfully so it drives beautifully as before and maybe better with up graded tires. Yamamotos. Tires are hard to get now and had to wait a couple of weeks for new "bumper hanger" part from Kia.
I had been following this dude on the Harley for a couple of miles and watched him do crazy stuff but finally got around and way ahead of him, but when I stopped at the light, looked in rear mirror and here he comes, then bam.
Bottom line: the more whole sections they have to replace, the better off you will be.
