Rear ended :(

Took her in today finally.. 8k in just body work, waiting to hear if there is anymore hidden that we can’t see. He did say they are having a very hard time getting “older” model stinger parts. :(

Had to take in my daughter's Kia Sorrento for a front end repair a few months back. It took about a month to get the damn radiator bracket in. times are tough. Good luck.

As I was driving around in my rental while mine was getting fixed, I'd sometimes pass by a same color stinger and think...hmmmm, where are my tools. ;)

Yikes! I feel your pain. Was rear-ended in Dec of last year. Car has been in the shop for almost 3 weeks waiting on a new rear hatch! You might escape the supply chain wait! Good luck!!

Dealing with this same thing right now, drop mine off March 7th to start repairs. Initial estimate was 7500, but it will probably be closer to 12k when all done.

I figured as much … insurance already cut a check for body work but i know they are going to end up having to pay out more.

I bet you the SOB behind you was texting.
I wouldn’t be surprised.. it was a late hit too. We all slowed down and i started to speed up again and he hit me. Definitely wasn’t expecting it & he said he was going 55 mph… felt faster than that

Question before i provide an update:

would you drive this car in its current condition as a daily? i drive 60 miles a day to work & back.

I would if I didn't have another car, sure. Its just embarrassing thats all, lol.

So obviously it doesn’t drive the same.. it vibrates some and it feels lopsided.. l don’t have another, this is my daily. I got a quote for body work so far but the 3rd party insurance hasn’t authorized the body shop to disassemble the car until parts come in so as of right now, they only know of body damage.. They weren’t going to provide a rental until the end of next week when i “drop the car off”, except it’s been there since last Wednesday.

Maybe it’s just me, but my thoughts are “Why would i drive a wrecked car and potentially create other issues that they won’t want to cover” since they’ve already submitted an estimate

Sounds like your subframe got tweaked, probably best to not drive. Witch will probably close to a total if its bad enough, sucks. Our first Sonata that got hit (only had 95 miles on it), the rear subframe was bent a bit and the passenger door would stick, they totaled it.

Mine drives fine, just looks bad. Thankfully she was only going about 20 when she hit us, took off from a stop and POW. A Prius with a low nose and all the damage is underneath in the battery compartment, missed the rear crash bar almost completely.

How did your damage look from the outside? I was also worried about subframe damage but no one else seems to be, they don't think it looks too bad with the naked eye. However, the guy at the collision center said he has no idea until he gets the bumper off. He did say he ran a diagnostic and all the electrical in the back seems to be intact, minus two sensors

I couldn't bear it. I'd be crying all the time and hating life. I'd have it in getting fixed instantly if possible and drive a rental. Perhaps the insurance will cover some or all of the rental costs?

Are you going to go after diminished value as this accident was not you fault?

They should cover all of it, but I'm not sure for how long..
