Real IAT Mod Kia stinger gt 3.3t

I meant to specify only swapping the JB4 sensor “inputs”. And still plugging the “outputs” in the correct factory locations. Now you would have to break the loom on the JB4 harness to separate the wiring. From what I can tell IAT mod is just wiring to trick the car into reading temp at the charge pipe before the T/B and not the intake manifold after the T/B. Right or wrong?
okay I reread your message and checked out an installation video of the Jb4

Yes doing this would effectively create this mod. To do it properly would require relooming the jb4 wire harness to swap the two “input” wires.

This mod would still work with the JB4 and eliminate the need to reloom the JB4.

Factory female harness > Mod harness > JB4 input > JB4 output

Do these spacers come predilled with gaskets and longer bolts? Can you put a link to the spacer?
Yes, they come ready to install with a gasket, bolts, and washers. I have material to make 3 right now. Turn around is one day and it ships.

I'll pick it up, I've always been curious about the intake manifold spacer.

What about the cac to throttle body connection? Any issues there with 1" spacer or does the stock hose reach?

I'm curious as I have an aftermarket bonnet and it will fit easily and make changing plugs a breeze but also I don't have coolant going thru my TB anymore.

Exciting results from the real “IAT mod”

272 mile New Year’s Eve trip
Average mpg 28.5
106 miles of range left (car estimation)

The photos show my trip to destination at 2pm and my return trip at 2am

12.6f difference between ambient temp and Intake take temp on my afternoon drive.

10.8f difference between ambient temp and intake temp of my return trip.

Trip time :9693 seconds (2hours 41min)
Return trip time: 9862 (2 hours 4min)

No issues with pipes. There is one bolt/bracket that comes out just below TB. I never put it back but a simple 1" extender could be fabricated if you were stuck on getting that back in. There is one other bracket/bolt on the passenger side that needs to be taken out and that could be reconnected if you wanted to. I did neither and had no issues. The only downside is closing the hood with the cover on is tight. Most opt just leave it off, it only holds in heat anyway.

Tuff crowd in here...

I am mid flight , I was asked a question about temps a while ago I will post my results when I am back on my computer.

Stay cool you crazy cats...

First full tank of gas after installing the mod.

347.9miles
25.9 mpg average
New estimated range: 359 miles

How much range do you average per tank in the winter ?

I removed the “Real IAT mod” to compare the IAT results iv been seeing for the last 2 weeks.

25.2f above ambient when cruising on the highway at around 55mph for 5-7minutes.

Not very scientific I am afraid so take it with a grain of salt.. But engine cover on 54* engine cover off 48*

Cheers...

Screenshot of the 54* I had to stop the engine to reset my scan tool , more importantly I would like to hook my coolant hose back up again to the TB just to see the AIT at idle ?

Gotta wonder if the warmer intake promotes better economy?
Or the cooler intake affects fuel usage apart from throttle control lol.

If I could get a tuner to set my thermostat at 160* or 72 degrees C we would be kicking arse and commanding a lot more timing, this was a BIG secret with Barra engines.

You need to actually bring the fans on before the thermostat opens and it's worth a few tenths and a couple of mph on back to back runs I proved this over a decade ago on Ford 6cyl's both N/A and Turbo.

You will get people that never modify their car say blah blah doesn't work oil needs to be at 100* you are only wearing your engine out and wasting fuel... wellllllllll so what?

I always changed my oil every 5000km's sometimes sooner if running E85.

I don't argue anymore, I know what works I just need someone to lower my thermostat operating temp and then maybe someone capable of adjusting the exh cam timing to promote better scavenging and kill the ozone layer a bit quicker.

Because that is the next untapped potential of this platform.

Peace ✌️

What was the ambient temp in Celsius? Just check the weather app

Being that our thermostats are electronic a tune would be the way to have the car hold a steady 72c

Or you can build a controller inline with the coolant temp sensor that adjusts the resistance reading at 72c and output the equivalent resistance the temp sender outputs at 100c

A 90% production ready prototype being sent out to a fellow forum member for testing on their vehicle. Lucky him!

I ended up fitting a Davies Craig waterpump to my ford, so i could command what temp i needed it to pump at.

It worked very well and the only belt running off my under drive balancer was to the alt, i deleted the pwr steering and the air con ...

I had to become very creative as far as the belt tensioner went.

I still have the manual steering rack, i bought another car cheaply and swapped all the neccessities back on for the RWC *sigh*

People wont realise this, but your thread has really given me a kick in the pants and i am now certain a 155L/ph electric pump with NO thermostat is what i require.

I will happily order your wiring kit as well... I bought my brake boost harness from someone in Canaduh i'm pretty sure?

Ahhh yes that’s valid, but you’ll have to consider how “smart” our electronic thermostat is. The ECU in this car times the length of time it takes for the coolant to reach temp

If it’s looking for 98-108c and doesn’t get it it’ll throw a code

It’s harder designing mods around smarter ECUs

I’ll have a batch of 10 harness ready by the end of this month
