This is a very good question. The short answer is: No. As a result of the installation of a RaceChip auxiliary control unit, you may lose the ability to make claims under any guarantee provided by the manufacturer of your vehicle with regard to the engine (and possibly other parts of the vehicle).
However, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act strongly protects consumer rights. When accessorizing your vehicle with
aftermarket parts, your warranty claim cannot be automatically denied, nor can your warranty be voided, if you install non-OEM parts in your vehicle. The burden is on the dealer to prove the
aftermarket parts caused the failure.
Please be aware that our products are designed for maximum safety. In contrast to many other tuning technologies we do not remove or adapt any engine protection system implemented by the manufacturer. Furthermore, the RaceChip Engine Protection System is part our optimization software. This RaceChip engine protection is the first layer of protection, the OEM-systems are the second layer. E.g. getting Check Engine Lights (CEL) would be a sign that the OEM-system stepped in. Customers sometimes get them if installation goes wrong (e.g. you remove your RaceChip and forget to re-connect the stock plugs --> the ecu recognizes that something isn't right and throws CELs and you can't start your car).
RaceChip is an impermanent plug & play modification. You can easily remove it within a few minutes and your car is in stock condition again.
