3.3TT Quicksilver Exhaust Systems

We're you guys able to re-use some screws and nuts? Just curious what hardware was received with your exhaust. I have the cross brace, 2 bolts and nuts for that with washers, and 4 bolts with 8 washers. Also a sleeve with a clamp for the one side.

Also, I barely got charged anything for duties/taxes, was about half of what I was expecting. Wondering if due to the timing or I just go lucky.

I'm installing tomorrow, let you guys know how it goes.

This is what I got... Sounds like you're good to go.

THANK YOU!

Happy to say that I am much happier now than before. I would recommend that if you are going to have a shop do the install, make it one that's comfortable with custom exhaust work. It should be pretty easy for them to get it sorted if there is an issue.

Thats great news and feedback

great news as well!!!!!
Other than some shipping hiccups and slight fitment issues( any reputable muffler shop should have no issue correcting this alignment within minutes) , how is everyone enjoying our new setup?
Hopefully these issues do not deter anyone from this awesome system

So is the consensus that fitment issues necessitate install by a shop? In other words, is it pointless for me to attempt a DIY install this weekend?

I had almost no issues with fitment other than being 3/4" to 1 1/4" off center, which I originally let it ride, until I saw others having issues. So I decided to try and duplicate what they were experiencing and a quick solution

As far as diy, it is straight forward, I guess up until the last ten minutes. The passenger side seems to be a sticking point. It can be installed DIY and then if need be alignment sorted out at muffler shop. I simply shortened the brace and held the mufflers in place with a strap til I was sure the tips were centered, then tightened the brace.
There are several choices for this fix
A. Have shop heat pipe slightly and adjust bend(15 min fix, I know 4 who have had this done) should be easy while its being installed
B. Have shop cut out and weld a small section(also easy fix while installing) Several have also done this
C. My personal fav Cut 1/4" off each side of brace supplied, allowing both mufflers to move independently, use small strap to pull and hold them closer together while centering pipes into tips.(I only did this because I was alone and on my back, duplicating issues others were having) reinstall brace, I located mine on the bottom of the welded brackets, tighten bolts for brace. 15 min to do this
D. Install fabricated pie shape wedge and gaskets, that when tightened, will naturally allow the off center mufflers to shift to the correct position . also easy fix ,two bolts remove, install fix and two bolts tighten

OK. I'll attempt install with option C and report back. It sounds logical enough.

Thanks for all the effort in pulling this together and helping navigate the issues as they pop up!

No problem, I want this to be the go to system and help everyone enjoy their new British accent
I wish it were a no frills install, and I was in the same boat as everyone else, being the first to order, actually paying full price before the discount went into effect. But, I have also been forced to tweak and modify tons of installs at my shop, that should have been drop in. Sometimes its a pry here or there and a slightly larger hole to make things fit exactly. I know it sounds like a hack move with the rachet strap, but it is actually way easier to do while everything is in place where you want it and you can adjust the centering much easier that way

If you are able to, I would install the exhaust DIY. If the passenger side is off like it is for many, then take it to a muffler shop and let them fix it. If the passenger side is good then you would be done. If you have to take it to a shop to install, then make sure it's one that can cut/weld competently so they can fix any issue that comes up. I recommend, if a fix is needed, to either have the bend(s) adjusted, or have it cut, positioned, and welded.

I paid to have mine installed (my garage is a mess) and I paid to have the exhaust fixed and still came out way ahead on the money considering a 50% discount. I just wish I didn't have to spend the extra $$$, but it was worth it.

Glad to hear you are happy. Yes I am with you, that extra couple bucks in your pocket is always a win!

can you get a photo of this? just want to be prepared before i go to the shop for install thursday.

I have started a FB group Kia Stinger Quicksilver equipped exhaust discussion
this will encompass fixes, discount codes, group buy, feedback etc
it may be easier to contact me there as i check it often
and it is easier for me to upload photos etc

Yeah, but if the only thing holding the pipe aligned is that you tightened the bolts on the brace, how long before the stress forces the exhaust to spread out to the ends of the brace?

Asking for a friend.

I can push the pipes together with minimal effort. So there really isnt any tension on them. Shouldnt be an issue

I didn't see that the brace solved the problem. It resulted in pulling the perfectly aligned driver's side out of alignment. I'm wondering if it's the midpipes that cause the problem and not the catback. The midpipes on the passenger side seem to be the culprit imo, causing a cascading misalignment issue.

I would be curious if ruffstuff had the silencer on the passenger side rub up against the underbody opposite of the driveshaft. This would explain the different experience between us and twn2rbo.

Well I’m only installing the cat back so we’ll know Thursday. ;)
