Pushed my Stinger up to 150 mph last night

that's insane. Is there a video? What are his mods? Were you actually there or are you taking his word for it?
I have no proof of it. There seem to be a video of him going over 300Km/h but I have only seen a screenshot of it. Last time I saw him he had Unichip, a methanol kit with primary cat delete (460whp setting). Is there any reason why such claim would be hard to achieve in a straight line?

When I let off and got down to around 80 mph it felt like I was moving in slow motion and at 60 my perception was completely broken and I kept looking at my speedometer because it felt like I was doing 25 mph. What an unbelievable feeling.

The car was amazingly stable and you could feel that it wanted to give more. I could have gone beyond 150 easily. I love this car so much. :)
Well, heck yes! I got to 150 and made an instantaneous decision to take it up to 155, just because the road was still straight and nobody was on it but me, so why not? Iirc (this was back in July) acceleration was still c. one mph per second. so just like you, my 3.3TT "wanted to give more". I reckon that would be true right up to the speed limiter of 167 MPH; then an abrupt quit. 155 was more than fast enough for me, for now. :D:P And after that I felt like I was driving residential, on the freeway man. I still had over 500 miles to go before home. So that was a bit of a trial of my patience. I kept finding myself above 15 MPH over the speed limit and having to scale back.

That’s totally irresponsible of you......you should have kept going to the max. then we would all know what this thing is capable of....;)
167 MPH. We already know that. Tune that away, do a few mods, and 200 MPH is possible (find the venue first, of course, heh!). The body will allow for it. The faster you go the more hunkered down it gets.

HP/Weight ratio, aerodynamics, and gearing are all things that keep you from hitting 200 mph. Let's compare to some other super salons.

M5: 600 HP, 194 mph top speed
AMG E63: 603 HP, 186 mph top speed
RS7: 605 hp, 190 mph top speed
CTS-V: 640 hp, 200 mph.

Not saying it isn't possible, but that jump from 190 to 200 mph is a lot harder than you think, a Stinger in the low to mid 500 hp range probably can't hit 200 unless he's going downhill or has a nice brisk tail wind haha. I don't know how car guys are over there in SK, but I used to hang out with a couple guys here from SK and all of them had a tendency to "Stretch the truth" when talking about their cars lol.

155 is bloody fast man, especially at night with limited field of view. I doubt I'll ever take my stinger that fast unless I track her, I'll live vicariously through you, strap a camera somewhere next time! hahaha

It was in the broad light of a summer's day. Miles of straight road ahead. Completely unexpected opportunity which I seized firmly by the tender parts. :D I'd do it again in a heartbeat. But, that is not likely to happen anytime soon. Not around here anytime, period.

The Stinger would not be able to hit 200MPH. Sure, the gearing might get it there on a dyno, but real world I do not think it could clip 200MPH.

That little extra speed, would take another 200WHP and better aerodynamics.

Somebody was exaggerating, then. On here some weeks back, I read somebody repeating what they were told: 203 MPH with all stops pulled. Nothing further was said or pursued, so I took it to be a brag/lie. But anyway, 187? That is fantastic, and verified, right here! Cool!!

The stinger actually has a .30 Cd, that's good, the same as an RS7, just .01 under the CTS-V. A 650 HP stinger with a bit of weight reduction could hit 200 mph I think, considering bolt on and tuned stingers are getting up to around 550 already I think we'll see 600+ hp stingers within a year. A 100 HP bump from upgrading turbos is fairly modest, it just depends on when the supporting parts are actually created.

But is this actually on pavement??? Or just on a Dyno?

Not my video but it looks like on pavement. You accelerate a lot faster on a dyno, plus you can tell the car isn't on a perfectly flat surface like a dyno drum (camera shaking from bumps), and lastly the drum gets REALLY loud at 190 mph, I'm talking you should probably wear ear plugs loud.

Fast is fun. I've made a habit of taking every car I own to it's top speed. 112 in a 1992 Chevy Corsica, 102 in a 1987 BMW 325e, 115 in a 2011 Ford Fusion, 109 in a 2017 Kia Sedona (With 6 adults in the car). All on a track, of course... Out of all of them the BMW was the scariest. The thing was falling apart, had bald tires, and was missing about half of it's horsepower because of age.

I don't think I'll top out the Stinger though. Theoretically, if I was to find a good spot where it was legal, I would hit 135 and be surprised by how solid the car felt, and then I would have slowed down with a giant grin on my face.

I've never been to Mexico, and I'd be fairly easy to track down in real life, so I'm glad all of this was done on a track or in my imagination.

Until proof, 200mph is hard to believe, indeed.

However, it is interesting to compare the Lap3 G70 with the Unichip Stinger.
According to Lap3 video, the G70 hits 300km/h (btw, that is 187mph not 190) but is it the end of the video? it is suddenly cut so it could have gone upper few km/h, or not... but who knows?
Now as for power, the Lap3 G70 of the video has 450WHP vs 465+ for the Unichip Stinger I am talking about. And as a matter of fact, until now in all rolling races (done in mexico) the Lap3 pro tuner (released 1-2 months ago here) lost vs Unichip. Lap3 pro tuner is probably a safer/better tune BUT no tune has yet beaten Unichip.
Also, the G70 has HTRAC vs RWD for the Stinger, which means they are the same weight.
Also, the G70 has worst aerodynamics than the Stinger (no numbers to back up this but I have read several times that the drag coefficient of the G70 is higher).
So, ==> if that G70 is able to make it to 300km/h, it does not seem crazy to me that the Stinger is able to go a bit faster. Now, by how much? 200 may be too much of a stretch but I would guess somewhere in between.

PS: The guy that claims 203mph is not my friend so I have absolutely no interest in proving that he is saying the truth. I am just trying to analyze the facts.;)

I was wondering about the aerodynamics of said stinger......lot of gulping air going on...

I visited the Lap3 shop today (for the first time) and talked with the manager. Very nice person btw.
He is the guy who tuned the G70 from the video and all other Stingers mentionned.
I asked him what was the maximum speed with the tune and without hesitation he said around 320km/h for both cars (~200mph).
The guy has worked in the business for over 15 years and is highly trusted in the community..

I've maxed out a couple cars in my younger years and that G70 was still pulling when the video ended, I have no doubt he could have gotten that 190. Also that car in the video with the LAP3 dynoed at 485 HP, not 450. Just because a couple unichip cars beat a couple lap3 cars doesn't really mean anything, all those cars are going to putting down different amounts of power.

According to Hyundia, the G70 has a Cd of .29, which means it has lower drag than the Stinger but just a bit.

Ask him for a video then, he won't give it to you because no one has done it. He might think it might get "around" 200 MPH but until it's actually done it, it can't. I'm sure they've tried and failed, what tuner wouldn't want to be able to slap "200 MPH tune" in their advertising?

With that said, I bet that G70 could hit 200 mph with enough weight reduction, but just how much I don't know.
