Paint/rust issues

I'm going to try the Iron-X. I will let y'all know how it goes. Thanks for all of the support and info everyone!
Good! I was wondering for a bit there if you are one of these people who actually enjoy feeling outraged. Once your car looks pretty again, at least you won't feel shame behind the wheel. The roof strips shouldn't be any trouble claiming paint warranty: clear case of failure.

Stung!,
This is an obvious case of rail dust contamination, as others have suggested. These tiny iron particles can come from the moving wheels of railroad cars and the tracks, brake rotors, and even as fallout from industrial plants. Your Stinger is not rusting. It is more obvious on lighter colored vehicles. Could be a gradual accumulation of spots or occur in a short period of exposure. Iron x will help remove the discoloration but additional paint correction (clay bar and polish/sealant/wax) would help resist future contamination. Another indication that this is environmentally induced surface contamination is that it looks similar on the silver paint and the metallic trim strips along the roofline. That metallic trim is actually stainless steel. The crackled roof strips are an entirely different story.... Defective paint or application process, but something others have had replaced under warranty.

Roof strips/rails: I've imagined going for the contrast look rather than try and match the body color. How do you think that these would look wrapped in dark chrome?

For example, this is, how much rust is on a car:
All "stripes" you see, are rust partikel. These will oxidide through your paint. Thats why you should spend some money into this issue.

However, if there will be some trace of rust on the surface, it is ruts but not from the material itself most of it it's a result of heavy air pollution particle which will be transferred through the air.

The brakes pads contains iron, the rotor too. So you will have rust on your car and rust from other cars, railraods and industrial factorys.

Brighter colours will get more visible paint damage from it. Darker colours will get these damage too, but its harder to detect.

Hmmm... I don't have any advice on the rusting issue, but I can give some advice on the recalls and other issues you have had. I've turned wrenches for Ford for the past 17 years. Recalls happen. Only having four recalls is pretty good. The new Ranger that just released had 2 recalls a month after being released. The F150 currently has over a dozen recalls. The Escape with the 1.5L and 2.0L engines have a TSB that says flat out to replace the engine in the event that coolant loss is present without any external leaks being found. I've changed 6 of those engine this month. Excuse my language, but, shit happens. Things break. The only thing I would be concerned with is how the company handles the issues. So far, it seems like you have had a bad dealership experience, but not necessarily a bad experience with Kia corporate. Maybe try a different dealer and see if they can help. Make a point of explaining how the last one pissed you off.

Update: Kia of America sent an email last night basically threatening me that if I continued with the Better Business Bureau then the offer to repaint the car is off the table...WRONG! The car is still under warranty! Obviously the BBB is tired of having to mediate between consumers and Kia due to the MULTIPLE complaints we all are having and turning to them for help. BBB has furnished an attorney for me and court date is set for Dec 17th. I'll keep you updated....

Did you try the Iron x as others suggested? You said you would post if it worked but I don't see any updates on it.

My husband tried it and it did work on some of the spots but most were too deep into the chrome. It took away the rust color but now I have holes in the chrome. I agree that some of it was probably the railroad dust but whatever it is ate right through the chrome.

Good to know. I hope you get some closure on this issue soon.

If it works , do a complete paint correction and then then seal it properly , I think this is the solution , fingers crossed for you !!

Thank you. I'm more upset with myself that I didn't research this car a little more but it'll all work out. I don't believe the BBB would go this far if they didn't have a legit cause. Kia is now at a B- rating with BBB and it seems from the research that it's not just the Stingers having paint issues but ALL Kia vehicles. Guess who's driving the Kia?? And guess who's driving the 2019 Chevy Silverado now....this girl!! Hahaha

Thanks...my husband drives it now hoping a deer will cross paths with him. He's just as sick as I am with it all.

Why in the world would you want to kill an innocent animal over your inability to properly maintain the finish of your car (the only exception being the painted trim pieces which are a known issue, which Kia has repaired/replaced for numerous folks)? I have no eye deer. The rust spots were 100% environmental contamination and had nothing to do with Kia. The 6 metallic trim pieces on the top of the Stinger are stainless steel and can be aggressively cleaned with cleaner wax or rubbing compound; it is doubtful there is any permanent damage to them.

BTW the BBB is not going to conduct any legal action on your behalf. At best they may weakly try to mediate a solution. But in reality all they do is extort companies for certification fees. If you really want to pursue action against Kia (not sure for what) with a possible real outcome, contact your state attorney general's office.

Hope that comment was meant to be " tongue in cheek ".....would hate to think someone would deliberately try to mow down an innocent and beautiful creature just to get their car " written off ", I despise people that deliberately Harm animals, plus their sick af.
You have other options........you can trade it in or sell it on if its all too much for you.

Not to mention the fact that hitting a deer has been known to kill people.
