Oil pressure light comes on only when car is stopped

Just had the same issue pop up on mine.

You've got the highest mileage I've seen on a stinger. What has been your maintenance schedule? The manual runs out of schedule somewhere around 100,000 miles. Dealership looked at me like I had five heads when I asked what the maintenance schedule is after 100k. Told me to follow the manual.

Dealer had mine last week, they claimed the oil was low (it was not, I had checked that morning before driving it over) and that car just needed an oil change. It was approximately 600 miles away from a scheduled oil change interval, so we did that. Dealer could not replicate issue after oil change, sent me on my way. Came back on yesterday, only the third day I've actually driven that car since. We'll see what they find this time.

Likely last time I'm heading to the dealer, but so far I've been unable to find an indy mechanic/performance shop in my area that seems interested in the car. All the euro shops declined, which is fair.

If they come up with some insane quote (in the $5-8,000 range like some in here have seen) I'm not sure what the move is. Likely move on from the car. Can't imagine a ~110,000 Stinger is worth more than 10-15,000. Not sure it makes sense to spend a third to half that to fix it.

You need to find the shop that would replace that oil sensor, or do it yourself. With that oil light on the car isn't worth a lot.

Has anyone, anyone with the oil pressure light on, has anyone measured the oil pressure?

My GT1 was just diagnosed with the same problem and dealer refuses to cover it under warranty.
What is interesting is that KIA Corporate DOES cover the SAME issue on the SAME engine type on a whole bunch on other models but NOT the Stinger.
Has someone reached out to KIA Corporate to see what they have to say about it?

Hey. Does anyone know the part number for injector seal kit?? Getting ready to tackle oil sensor.

353133L000 6 pcs. - injector seals
284113L100 6 pcs. lower collector gaskets,
292153L100 1 pc. upper collector gaskets,
Awesome! Thank you!

The culprit is a bad oil sensor. It’s a $100 part that is a $1,000 job and a full day to fix. A real bear to replace. I would recommend doing the oil line recall at the same time to save you from making two trips to the dealer. I would also FIND A DIFFERENT DEALER. $3,400 is outrageous! I live in Maryland where everything is expensive it seems and I only paid $1,000. I have 225,000 miles on my stinger now, and it’s the only issue I have ever had with the car. I can say I have a great relationship with my dealer: Timbrook Kia in Cumberland, Maryland. They have always been excellent and have serviced my Kia for the past 5 years.
How many miles you have on her now ? I'm in Frederick and the dealership here is horrible for service. Incompetent and rude. I'm at 135,000 miles and have had the oil pressure (sensor) light issue for the last four months. Comes and goes ... I wanted to thank you for your post. When I decide to deal with this issue, and the recall, I'll be heading to Cumberland. Bought my Stinger from Hagerstown Kia back in May of 19, and I'm not going back there either for service. Is there a specific tech you would recommend at Timbrook ?

Has anyone tried tapping that port yet on the oil filter housing?

I'm also amazed that we don't have a oil filter relocation kit that can put a sandwich plate there with some extra fitting for sensors.

Weird!!!

Apologize for the delay in responding- See Andrew;(Service Manager) he is awesome- RJ is the only tech I let touch my car for the last 6 years- he is great/ used to work at Hyundai down the street, so many years of experience. I have 238,000 miles on my car and still no leaks and drives like new. BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED…and I’ve had slot in my 55 years😀 Tell them Matt Trautwein sent you and they will take great care of you. They do all the work on my son’s G70 3.3T as well. They also are great with aftermarket installs. I bring my own rotors, pads, etc… and they just charge basic labor for install. They will also match or beat any tire price as well. They have never let me down. Worth the Drive! The dealer is under construction right now so they drive you down the road a short distance to another dealer while you wait.

Thanks for the super valuable information !! Hard to find a good, reliable, trustworthy mechanic these days. I had that at Hertrich Honda / Kia in Easton, MD where I used to live, but now they're two hours away ... Sounds like you are my twin as far as being car enthusiasts. I've owned about 25 vehicles from Corvettes to BMWs, to Subarus, to Toyotas. My Stinger is my all time favorite. It checks all the boxes in one car. Thanks again for sharing your information and happy motoring !
