Well while Stinger is a good first try from Kia I’m looking into a true GT car now. 2018 Porsche 911. Driving experience for me in 911 is just so much more engaging. Porsche feels more solid, sound is out of this world cool. Performance makes Stinger feel well a bit boatish. 911 is more comfortable and easier to get in and out of as I’m 6’4. More head room. And car is just drop dead gorgeous. Likely to jump into a 911 at end of this year.

Perhaps issues I have had with my Stinger are related to first model year but lots of little irritating things that I have never dealt with in my ownership of multiple Porsches. But still fun to try Stinger . I still think it comes up quite short of best from Germany but if you’re looking for budget $35k GT car I’d recommend the BaseStinger GT RWD with LSD. Hard to go wrong with a Stinger GT at $35k price tag. To me once Stinger goes over $35k it’s a bit out of its league.

I may hang on to Stinger as my beater commute car if I can get all rattles and sneaks out of cabin. Creaky dash, rattling sunroof , etc are driving me crazy. I have a long list of warranty repairs for when I drop car off to dealer. Other day my lsd made a big clunking noise as I put in reverse. Is that my next failure? Add that to wobbly rotors, paint defects, stereo issues, transmission hiccups. Suspect car will be in for a week to address all issues. If it comes out fixed I will likely hold onto it to keep miles off the much nicer POrsche.

Which 911? They all start at $91K plus. The Cayman is $3K more than the highest end Stinger. (Interesting question: why would I see "911 Cayman" on the back of a "competition orange" Porsche? I thought the Cayman is a 718; does the 911 come in a trim that says "Cayman" on it too? Or did the owner rebadge his Cayman to look like a 911? It sure sounded burbley and he loved hugging rear bumpers and goosing it to make it roar, scream and burble! :D Saw it yesterday afternoon on the freeway.)

I think your issue might be with the kind of car you’re looking for. The 911 and the Stinger serve totally different purposes and are in totally different classes...I can’t imagine anyone on the planet has cross-shopped those two cars lol

Please inform us what car <$50k bests the Stinger GT1/2?

...what? A 911 isn't a GT lmao that's a pure sports car. You absolutely can't compare the two, of course the 911 is going to perform better. It cost 3x as much and it's design built for performance, the Stinger is an actual GT so it's going to be much larger, fit more people, and have far more cargo space.

If you want to compare the Stinger to a Porsche it has to be the Panamera, those two cars in terms of performance are much much closer than you think, with the Stinger being faster in a straight line than the base Panamera at less than half the price. Fit and finish in the Porsche is certainly better and I'm sure it handles a little better. But seriously, who is going to look at a Stinger when they're looking at 6 figure cars?

Every brand of auto companies will produce a lemon car from the factory. I believed Calisting may have gotten that lemon and what could of go wrong went wrong on his. Sorry to hear about the issue you are having, but comparing a 911 to a Stinger is out of this world. 911 should be compare to Nissan GTR class.

Calisting, why you hitting the hornet's nest? LOL!

Will be one of first 2019 models off the line in Germany with delivery in Late January. These cars are so beautiful! Could drive it forever. Puts the T into touring. Comparing it to Stinger here are my observations.

First off the 911 is a true drivers car. Totally engaging , fun to drive , handling out of this world but civilized. Doesn’t float and bob like Stinger but is every bit as comfortable as Stinger. Also feels more solid than Stinger ....steering wheel feels higher quality and has better weight. Steering feel in 911 is far more direct and telepathic than Stinger. Close ratio 7 speed is so much fun but easy and has rev match makes me wish Stinger had a sweet 7 speed manual.

Interior quality hands down Porsche nails it. Everything is just perfect. Feel of Materials is just so much better, everything is well thought out and is ergonomically pleasing. Stinger is nice but everything in Stinger to me feels a bit cheap, lighter cheaper tactile feeling compared to more solid materials used in Porsche. Porsche Seats fit me like a glove! Stinger seats are good but lack support that 911 seats have. And I can get in and out of car without hitting my head like I do in cramped Stinger. Something that has always bugged me with Stinger is feel of doors when I shut them - they feel tinny and lightweight. Porsche on other hand feels like closing a bank vault. Just little things like that are what do set German cars apart from the spunky Kia.

Teachnology. Porsche technology is a step above Kia for sure but Porsche nickel and dimes for every feature you want. So my $40k Kia has way more tech packed into car than my $100k Porsche. Ask me if I car when I’m behind wheel of the 911. ...nope! But Kia does great job of stuffing tech into and affordable package for sure!

Visibility. Stinger side to rear looking visibility has always bugged me. 911 I can see all around me no problem.

Powertain. Ok Porsche should get award just for sound. Their twin turbo 6 just sings into the cabin. No fake sound need be pumped in through speakers like Kia. Lovely lovely.
Throttle response in 911 is immediate and feels less turbocharged than Stinger. Oh gosh wish Kia could come close to this experience. While Porsche is faster the mid range grunt of the Stinger still impresses . While Porsche has beautiful sweet note and motor pulls all the way to 7500 rpm that Kia 3.3 TT just belts out power between 2000 to 5000 rpm in a way that Porsche doesn’t. Porsche is still faster but it’s power is more linear. Numbers tell story . Smaller Porsche motor makes more hp but less torque than Kia . Aside from awful Kia sound track and wonky throttle response that Stinger offers they truly hit a home run with a cheap assessable power train that delivers good power with mid range punch that sill makes me giggle. Just wish that Kia motor was hooked up to little better chassis . I do have hope for Kia though. I’m betting next round they improve! As I have said I’m very impressed with Stinger. With few more rounds I’m sure they will improve the car.

911 T is very much a touring car. Much more relaxed than true laser focused sports car versions of 911 like GT3 or entry level sports cars like Cayman S . However 911 T does offer outstanding handling that only Porsche can offer. ....oh and I love fact I could order a Porsche fire extinguisher as an option mounted on passenger side floor. ...so fun!

The 911 T base price of $102k is a deal!

Now sad news is Kia will get kicked out of garage late January and Porsche will stay dry over winter. Lol

While a loved fuel efficiency and better handling of my Honda Civic Si the Stinger will make nice high mile commuter. Well again if I can get all creaks and squeaks out!

Here is a pic of 911 I ordered. So cool Porsche changes pic with each option I loaded. Lava orange with big ceramic brakes.

I have always laughed at Kia for comparing Stinger to Panamera. No comparison in my book. Panamera is much bigger and wider executive touring sedan. Truly outclasses plucky Stinger even in its entry level spec. Sure Stinger is quicker than Base Panamera but that’s about it.

And I beg to differ ...new 911T is very much a two door European touring car that certainly is rooted in a sports car chassis but offers relaxed comfortable ride that GT cars are known to offer. And I for one think 911 is actually better GT comparison than bigger Panamera to Stinger . And you know it’s actually complement to Stinger that I compare 911 to Stinger than Panamera. I have many miles in a Panamera - great car but to me ...boring. But ask me if I cared that a Stinger is faster than base Panamera I drove? At wheel of a Panamera I’d be thinking Pshhh stupid Kia. Panamera is a grown ups car. Kias are for kids! Well kids at heart. Panamera is solid ,well appointed but borrring. Stinger is more lively engaging car like a 911.

I mean if you think about Stinger concept Peter S was going after he refering to those slightly bigger relaxed European GTs like Maserati and Ferrari . New 911 is just as big as cars he was modeling Stinger from. New 911 T also embodies the more relaxed high speed touring car concept. 911 GT3, GT3 RS and GT2 RS are true focused sports cars from 911 range. The 911 T is more livable long range touring car. Car for those trips to wine country or to the beach or to mountains to ski. I could see a pair of skis on top of the 911.

This just in: Porsche is nicer than Kia.

Congrats on the car though!

Forgot to mention I can sleep in back of Stinger! Carry bags of cement and trees from nursery too. Can’t do that in 911 . Lol
