Not a 911 (extracted from lounge intro thread)

No sure why you compare a 911 to a KIA Stinger, make no sense to me or majority of the people here in the community. Congrat on your new ride.

Well congrats, one day I hope to order a 911 GT3 RS.

Something that has always bugged me with Stinger is feel of doors when I shut them - they feel tinny and lightweight.
LOL! You have got to be kidding/trolling for sure. The first thing I noticed when I got in and shut the door was "thump", soft, definite and solid. "Tinny"? That's where some of the best steel is put. A finger push and the door swings shut slowly and closes with the fullest, satisfying "thump".
Powertain. Ok Porsche should get award just for sound. Their twin turbo 6 just sings into the cabin. No fake sound need be pumped in through speakers like Kia. Lovely lovely.
I don't want to hear the engine in the cabin, above a purr/murmur. Interior quietude is one of the reasons why I like the Stinger.

Nice car, though. You are obviously excited. Porsche will always be Porsche. Kia is morphing, as you point out. The future is unwritten and may be very brief for any of us. The car I have is fun. There are others but I can only drive one at a time anyway. Then, money talks ...

Do me a favor go to Mercedes , Audi and bmw dealer. Swing door by internal door handle. Stinger feels tinny in comparison. If Kia is serious about taking on Euro competitors the car needs to feel Euro . I suspect rumors of no 2nd gen Stinger are well rooted into fact Stinger hasn’t been able to compete head to head. Suspect most owners of Stingers don’t come from typical euro car market buyers.

Lost in translation: When you say "tinny and lightweight", I am thinking of the feel and sound the door makes when it closes from outside. I didn't visualize you closing the door from inside. You already mentioned the difference in material quality/feel in door handles and such. I don't need to compare the materials used in the Stinger's interior with cars that cost twice as much! Seriously, this isn't even a topic for debate. The Stinger comes CLOSE in every particular, including interior quality and feel of luxury. Close isn't competing directly item for item, it is charging a lot less for something that comes close enough for those not insistent on paying a lot more for a total car experience. And no, I have not gone to sit in Bimmers and the like. My first experience inside a Stinger was good enough; far in advance of anything I have ever owned. Added to that were all the reviews comparing interior appointments with other like priced and more expensive cars. Not one of them ever said "feels tinny and lightweight" in describing the Stinger's shortcomings. But these things are subjective. You are "spoiled" by previous experience. And I am impressed by comparison with my lowly previous experience: so we are not really describing the same thing; our point of view is apparently quite different. :D

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
My neighbour has a new Porsche GT4 and asked to drive my GT , he's a car geek and drives nothing but German ( e39 M5 is his daily driver ) he was shocked when my long list of BMW 's stopped invading my garage in favour of a Sorento and now a Stinger .................his quote .........." I should have bought 3 Stingers ! of course he was being kind , but he was very complimentary On the door issue I would say the Stinger is not any worse or better than any of the BMW's I've owned ( 5, 6 , X5 , X6 , except the 550 GT with frameless windows which sounded crap ! ) I'm a practical guy so a 2 door just wont work for me/us . We had a 650 cabriolet and I hated it .................a GT4 would be an extravagant dream toy if I had the space and time though ..........

Congrats on ordering the car! I’ll say this is some good news for the Stinger to be compared to your new Porsche. For a first attempt they did a pretty good job and I’m certain they will keep improving.

Agreed I have tremendous amount of respect for Kia taking this risk. The Stinger does so many things well. Just like my Honda Civic did but I still don’t see it being direct completion to euro GT’s .

And who knows we may have a collectors car soon if Kia kicks Stinger to the curb and makes it a one model wonder.

With them planning on doing more GT cars, one would hope that they would give the Stinger a bit more tuning to make it better. I'm hoping for a factory sport package option.

I have a feeling this guy is just a troll, what kind of crazy person compares a Porsche 911 to a Stinger? What's next, is he going to tell us how much better the audio system is in the AMG SL63 he just sold? Or how his Ducati Supersport is faster and also gets better gas mileage than the Stinger? This whole thing is absurd.

@CaliSting seems legit to me: a track car guy who compares his Stinger to other much hotter, dedicated tracked cars. But he also says things that get reactions, so "trollish" in his methodology. I always find his posts entertaining and even informative.

He has been a member for a while, had his Stinger for a while and races Porches. I'll say he is a car enthusiast much like the rest of us. I look at his views on the car as an owner's perspective of a vehicle he owns and likes but has some concerns about. The Stinger as we all know is a great car which competes well against established vehicles. In the US it seems we got a lesser vehicle as most folks here don't consider KIA as a good brand even though they have made strides to surpass other brands that still get sales due to their time in the market and history. Many here, including myself, don't think they should have priced it the way they did seeing as how they stripped some things out and didn't make it a high end vehicle like the K900. That was mistake on their part, which knowing KIA, they will correct over time.

I also believe that some of the dealerships in the US don't have a strong belief in the product, or at least some of the people they hire. Canada pushed to have a loaded car and they got it at a lower price. We got a higher priced car with some options and features stripped out. Don't get me wrong, it is still a great performer and as we have seen, there is more performance being developed for it. As a race car driver, I like to hear CaliSting's viewpoint on the car. Although I think he should have spent that money refining his car more so we could all benefit from his experience with it. :) Seriously though, it's not a race car but it makes for a great performer for the everyday drive with a dose of fun when you need it. A comparison to a Porsche is a bit out there but as said, for the money you spend on the Porches, would it take that much to make the Stinger handle like a Panamera? I don't think so but to do that on your first try and price it at $70K, it would really be a hard sell.

Enjoy your Stinger how you want it, that's why we got it. :)
