New Stinger Recall

Agreed. They have to follow KMA (Kia Motors America)’s suggested fix which isn’t ready yet. Funny how we can find out more via the Internet than the dealers.

I’d be curious as to who can provide an update as to what is going on behind the scenes.

A mental image of a room full of hamsters running into each other popped into my mind for some reason...

Canadian owners can check their VIN's here for any recalls. Works for any Canadian Kia.

Edit: no idea why the forum adds random headlines to URL's, this has nothing to do with a Telluride.

Seems it's just the 2019's.

No open recall for mine even though it's a 2019. Huh.

There is. It’s all 2019s with the 3.3. The links above are Canadian sites so you’d need to find the American equivalent and it may not be up to date.

I see it now. Thanks!

Literally the day i swap my plugs and get my jb4 installed and i see this and know im gonna have to uninstall it again soon. Fml. And i gotta have the dealership touch the car. Hopefully a quick fix and they dont keep my car over a few days.

They don't have a fix yet.

For those with a JB4... I guess we can just unplug the 3 plugs form the harness and leave the obd2 cable hanging there with the chip removed, right ? I really don't want to fight with the grommet again

Here is something I found. It says all fires were in 2019 3.3 with electronic brake but no smart cruise control, but they decided to recall all 2019 3.3 just in case. n of 6 is low, but maybe the ones with smart cruise control are somehow not at risk. My letter says I have to park outdoors far from house, that sucks with winter coming soon

The GT and GT1 in the US. I don’t think any have been GT2s or Canadian spec cars. Our Trims have different options than the US cars so there’s a chance ours are fine.

I store my car for the winter inside. No way it’s sitting outside for a less than half a percent chance it could spontaneously combust...

Yea I saw that as well, others here mentioned it may not affect SCC cars. It’s hard to say if they’re unaffected, that’s just how it has (unfortunately) panned out so far. The fact that Kia is still recalling non-SCC cars leads me to believe that they are at risk too. I think to save face and to err on the side of caution it’s best that they did all 3.3. I mean, they’re still trying to find out root cause and the first stinger was affected over a year ago, kind of scary that a definitive fix doesn’t exist yet.

Parking outside sucks for me too, once it gets too cold out and I have to turn off the house hose, the winter crud can pile on without hitting up a weekly car wash. I’m going to ask my local dealership to detail the hell out of my car after the recall is completed. Asking me to park outside for months, then not detailing a $40+k flagship car would be a slap in the face.

I’d park at Kia dealership so the whole place would burn.
