New Stinger Recall

Can we just calm down a bit here. Perspective is important. It's a moving vehicle, you're far more likely to be injured actually driving the thing and getting into an accident then you are from your car spontaneously combusting. The car won't "burst into flames". If this was to happen you'd have boatloads of time to get out. Its also unlikely it'll just start on fire sitting in your garage at night and zero cases of this has occurred with the engine off. That warning to park outside is for liability whenever fires are concerned with a recall.

Nah, gotta find a way to enable the 360 camera for the duration of the car's visit to the dealer and record the entire thing. Add a camera under the body and another one under the hood. Then I'll be OK going to the dealer.

Of course I’m overreacting. I had a car do this once, no big deal - I pulled over, turned off the car, got it towed and fixed under warranty. I’m entitled to over react because #NewDadSyndrome Lol.

My point was to record. You reformulated what I was saying. Most cams have motion or audio triggered recording. One unit may not be capturing usable video all the time but you would have valuable audio.

THE DEFECT CAN RESULT IN A FIRE IN THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE COMPARTMENT, THUS INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.

Safety Risk

AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE MAY OCCUR WHILE DRIVING IN THE AREA WHERE THE HYDRAULIC ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (HECU) IS LOCATED, THEREBY INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY. I came back to this thread yesterday, I knew someone would update it, thank you turboAWD. It’s unfortunate that a remedy is still not available... Come on KIA you got this! <3 this car so much.

Just called and talked to my local service Rep at Kia. Told him I have 2019 stinger. He verified a recall is definitely underway. They are waiting for “parts” to be delivered before they begin scheduling. Could not give me any more info.
Told.me to call back in week or two.

What do you bet “the fix” turns out to be a fuse added to a certain circuit.
It makes sense to me with the reportedly small percentage of cars affected they might address in this manner as long as it’s not a critical safety system that goes down when the fuse blows.
This way affected cars would show them selves without burning and they could be individually addressed instead of having the entire 2019 production year come in to potentially replace major portion$ of electrical systems. It would be just a tad more cost effective.
I would actually welcome this fix
in a major way as opposed to
having a Kia mechanic attempt
a complete fuse panel change out for example.
I am one of the guys that is NOT OK with them even changing my oil.

If there is a recall applicable to your stinger you will receive a letter from Kia Canada. Thank you.

Typical response lol. Usually though, it takes awhile for Canada to get the same recall that the USA introduces, so I'd sit tight.

It makes sense that the Dealers know nothing. Until Kia actually has a fix for the issue there's no point communicating anything to Dealers because there's nothing they can do.

Agreed. They have to follow KMA’s suggested fix which isn’t ready yet. Funny how we can find out more via the Internet than the dealers.

I’d be curious as to who can provide an update as to what is going on behind the scenes.
