New Short Engine Block

You and @Snicklefritz inspired me bro foreal. Besides intakes and exhaust I’m done with touching the engine again. Rather have peace of mind and reliability than random issues popping up.
Maybe you should do preventative maintenance stuff too, like a catch can. The only stingers that don't need them are cars on meth.

I hear so many back and forths about whether a catch can is needed im lost at this point. Is the bms catch can sufficient ? I had it on the car but took it off. Also what about just periodically getting the car walnut blasted . I know a little expensive but for peace of mind I would do it

As long as it's installed correctly it probably won't be an issue. As for walnut blasting, that's also a fine solution but expensive.

So bms catch can is good ? And I was thinking of doing both. Run the catch can and then periodically go for a walnut blasting

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I have BMS too. Install and forget.

Do you have an idea how much?
I was talking to a local stinger buddy today and we were talking about walnut blasting. He recommended getting a bg induction service done which is cheaper and a good alternative to Walnut Blasting. Bg induction consists of hooking up a pressurized container to the intake side and it sends cleaner through straight to the valves. Just looked online at how much Bg induction cost and it stated $150 but I’m sure it could be a few hundred bucks more.

Chemical removal sometimes comes up short, the walnut blasting removes nearly all the buildup versus some/alot-ish.

I like to have options but good to know. I wonder if you got the Bg induction service done more frequently would it have a good cleaning on impact on the car long term wise. Also are you running a catch cna by chance ? Do you feel stock Stingers need it ?

If you start doing the induction cleaning (like sea foam) on a regular you can stay ahead of the buildup. I'm not a fan of doing this for the simple fact you're ingesting some amount of chemicals into the engine. But whatevs, lots of people do it.

No catch can, just gonna walnut blast at some point. At the slow rate I'm putting on miles I may end up trading the car in before the buildup is even an issue. I'd say it's a good idea for people tracking/driving aggressively, or who put on a lot of miles each year and are holding onto the car for a while.

I’m approaching 50,000 miles and I’m highly considering doing walnut blasting if I can find a local shop for a decent price . But I’ll just put my catch can back on since I do spirit drive a lot.

I agree with @stoopid regarding the effectiveness of walnut blasting.

I wonder if there is a way to view the intake ports without having to take the intake off? Is it possible to snake a boroscope down in there?

If the boroscope is doable, it will make decision making a lot easier about when the blasting needs to be done.

I did a quick search on walnut blasting and:

$300 to $400
Takes about 4 hours
Do at around 40,000 miles

That's pretty inexpensive if you ask me, and the ports/valves look brand new again.

Yeah that’s not bad at all. I’ll definitely be getting that done sooner than later. Just need to find a shop in my area that does it.

Call one of the larger private repair shops in your area, even if they don't perform the work they'll likely know who does.

Got a price quote for walnut blasting not bad but I’ll still shop around

$500 is still not bad, especially if they do an excellent job.
