I'm not even getting the pop up telling me it's the same version as what's currently installed. It's looking like I may have to do a hard reboot of the whole system. Before I do that, I'm going to download the update one more time, I guess it's possible I had a corrupt download the first time. The only problem is the update has been removed from the updater, so I'm not sure how long I'll have to wait for it to reappear.

So I tried updating my 22 GT1 and think I screwed it up somehow. The update went through as far as I could tell, it took about 45 minutes, but now ai have no Map or Nav screen. The main page just shows a spinning circle like it's waiting for something to load. Everything else seems to work fine and it's showing the new build number. Any idea how I could roll this update back to the original and try applying it again?

Did you completely wipe old data before writing new data? My nav also didn't work untill I formated the card and tried again

The only option for updating the 22s is by USB thumb drive. I'm pretty sure they got rid of the SD Card on the new ones.

I am finding the infotainment to be laggy after the update. :-(

Nov 2022 update Recap for those who are just catching up now:

Carplay works full screen and shows the widescreen UI. It is very nice. This alone almost makes me want to go back to the iPhone. I would if Apple were not so anti-repair and a walled garden.

Android Auto does not run full screen and is shown in split screen in a 4:3 screen ratio; it will not work full screen. An AAWireless dongle may be used with dpi set to < 102 to force the widescreen UI but it will still use only 2/3 of the screen. I have found no way to enable the widescreen UI wired nor full screen at all. Android Auto is really starting to suck and lag behind Apple. Shame on you, Google!

HUD: unchanged. Still no nav hinting for carplay/android auto.

Audio: Radio favorites still show save number rather than frequency/channel. I haven't encountered the sound quality problems the patch fixed so I noticed no impovement nor any real differences.

Active sound design/fake engine noise: menu option has changed. Big whoop. I didn't check whether the setting stays put when switching user profiles. I gave up resetting it to off every dang time so I didn't think to test that.

G meter and lap timer still missing.
Gauges still suck.

Drive mode selectors bland and feature a generic car notimprovement. Very disappointing.

Themes largely unchanged, and are still bland and very ugly compared to pre-refresh Stingers. The Soul gets better treatment than the Stinger in the UI department. Did I mention the gauges suck?

Climate screen: OhMyGOD! This is one area Kia has HUGELY improved the Stinger! It is now very clear at a quick glance which air paths are selected, and accessing the rear seat heater controls is far easier and I have already used them to turn on the seat heater for a passenger. It is a small thing but very appreciated. Those controls used to be buried four levels down in the vehicle setup.
There is still much room for improvement. I mean you show me the outlets on the touchscreen, so why can I not just touch the vent on the screen? You have an AC indicator, so why can I not turn it on by touching the indicator? I don't want touch controls to _replace_ knows and buttons for those features but to augment them. Still, the update is an immense over the original design and you can clearly tell which outlets are selected.

I forget that the refreshed models lose the lap timer and G meter... and your performance gauges are different. I mean the new widescreen is nice but kinda lame that AA won't use all of it.

I've updated my '22 and I do not have full screen CarPlay. I still have the square off to the side for the compass, calendar, weather, etc.

** Nevermind, found the setting to turn the split screen off buried in the device connections menu.

Wait I’m totally confused. I have a 2021 Kia stinger gt2. Would it be worth it and even possible for me to update the firmware or is it exclusive to 2022’s? I didn’t know this was a thing to be honest.

Saw on the Facebook Stinger group that an update is available. Have to use the Kia Navigation Updater. Haven't done it yet. Was looking for other, forgive the term: "guinea pigs" who were successful with the update.

Hmm, downloaded the updater and plugged in the model Ckas.s5bmc.ca and it bounced back no updates.

I assume I don’t have the most recent version because I have CarPlay split screen.

Bad news. The 22’s are wired only. Some sort of software issue. I use Apple and bought a wireless CarPlay adapter. It works great. Not sure if something similar exists for Android or not.

I didn’t know there was a device to buy to go wireless! Man I’m out the loop haha. Which one would you suggest to purchase.

Mine is a 2018... it was always available. (In Canada)
UVO was renamed to "Kia Connect" sometime last month - so both terms will be used interchangeably.

Kia Connect = UVO Intelligence

My understanding is that 2020 and older KIAs have UVO. (I have a 2020 with UVO). KIA Connect is for those 2021 and newer that have remote start capability. UVO is still free for me. KIA Connect possibly a fee after the initial free period. I recently (Oct 2021) had mine in for service and for a radio update to get the UVO features to work. It could be different with yours or depending on country.

Earlier this week, I saw that this update was available for my 2022 GT1, but I needed to find an empty thumb drive.

Today I went back to download it, and I saw that distribution of the update has been temporarily suspended, effective Nov 19, for "inspection of the update." Maybe they found a bug?

I have the update on an SD card ready to load but I am going to hold off to see what happens with the November update. I am in no rush to add any issues into the system. I do wish that UVO was more useful in the USA. Remote start by phone would be awesome...

Does the new update allow you to order the favorites? I find it absolutely crazy that kia restricts you from re-ordering the presets. I am almost ready to buy a radio that has the original design and dump this horrible interface.

Good plan. It seems that some of the 2022 GT2's actually do have the Kia Connect functions that allow remote start, opening windows, turning on seat warmers/vents from your cell phone. (Stinger GT2 Special Edition...I'm assuming by special edtion they mean Scorpion?)

There is no way to remotely open/close windows or the sunroof. IMHO this is a yuge oversight. I'd love to be able to get a notification "hey dork you forgot to close your sunroof" and be able to close it remotely.

I can check the status of the windows and Hatch (but not the sunroof), but if I'm on a plane and see I left it parked with the window open what am i going to do with that knowledge other than stress out for ten days and hope and pray it doesn't rain and that no one f---s with my car?

If I leave the sunroof open when I shut off the car, it chimes at me and flashes the sunroof location in the console display of the car.
This is in my 2019, did they take that away in later models?

No, it still does that in my '22 model, but I have admittedly accidentally left it open before when I was in a hurry.

This is not applicable to my 2019 GT2 but reading this does make me feel 'hopeful' that a future update might be possible. "webmanual.kia.com/PREM_GEN5/AVNT/RJ/KOR/English/uvo002.html" This link I think is meant to show all the available features of the Kia Connect applicaton. I dont know if all this is available on the US models (which could explain why you didnt find it) but hopefully it is just a matter of enabling them.
