Will you update?

Learned years ago to never apply an update as soon as it comes out. Let it it simmer for a few weeks/months. If no subsequent updates then it's probably safe to install. Hell, this windows box hasn't been updated since 12/2019. I go 60-90 days between reboots (sleep it at night).

What were the complaints with the apr 21 update?

something something xm radio presets or something... I never encountered the issue.

Went to download the update today and got this message:

Updates Temporarily Unavailable

Navigation updates are being prepared for this vehicle.

This service will be available as soon as possible.

I got the same thing just now. Ugh. Was really looking forward to the improved climate screen

I installed mine this morning everything went smooth. Did notice the new dark navi screen, updated climate screen. Only bad thing I noticed is before on my home screen my XM radio stations would show the channel Icon (Pandora,Hits,Etc) and now each channel just shows a generic XM icon? Wonder if anyone else noticed that.

Give it time. Mine originally just showed the XM icon, then it started showing the station icon, ie:60 Golden oldies, channel 73

I downloaded the update yesterday for my '21 GT-Line and applied it this afternoon.

I haven't noticed any differences in the few minutes of use. I only checked on one minor annoyance introduced in the April update: the steering wheel radio channel up/down toggle works differently depending on the screen you are on. From the home page (and presumably other screens), pressing "up" moves to the next highest preset (e.g., 97.1 to 98.9) like one would expect. But on the Radio screen, it behaves in reverse, where an "up" press goes down a preset and "down" goes to the next highest preset.

It's 100% obviously a bug that I can't believe didn't get fixed in this update.

I hate to say this but that's pretty much an industry standard. I have a TIVO TV box. If watching the TV and remote channel up, it goes to the next highest station. If I have the channel guide up, which lists the channels in numeric sequence from lowest to highest, and I remote up, it goes up the screen to the next lowest channel. I have found that this behavior is standard on cable TV boxes so it only makes sense that radios that now have station displays, would work the same.

Just downloaded the Nov 2021 build. Will be updating my back up SD card and testing it out. Nice to how two cards if it doesn't work put the original back in.

Thanks for the perspective. This approach makes sense if the station list was arranged vertically (like the channel guide) but with the stations displayed as a horizontal ribbon, I tend to think of up = right and down = left. Either way it's not a big issue, and your explanation really helps.

The update for 2022 vehicles is available now. Downloading it as I write this and will report back after install.

Updated mine last night. Minimal differences as already discussed but I do prefer the climate screen in this update over the previous one.

Agree, just finished my update

How long did the update take in the car? Did you do it in the background?

I noticed after the update its now asking me to log into UVO and set up an account. What does this do exactly? First time I have seen this prompt and I assume it was driven by the update.

Mine took about 50 minutes. I just drove around for a while so I wasn't just sitting there idling

I don't have any of that stuff. UVO will provide it? I have the top trim 2019 model. Is this something that became available on later models?

Mine is a 2018... it was always available. (In Canada)
UVO was renamed to "Kia Connect" sometime last month - so both terms will be used interchangeably.

Kia Connect = UVO Intelligence

Can remote start your car from your phone or computer.
